I bought this jacket and took it on a 8 mile hike up a mountain in a downpour and it was a champ. It kept me dry and as a added bonus i got asked twice about the jacket. I would suggest keeping an eye out at the REI outlet to snag a discount.
Great review. You said your jacket is a large and mentioned it's roomy on you but didn't mention your specific height and wight. I am 5'10 and weigh 200. I have a 44.5 chest which is on the border between large and extra large. I'm going to use the jacket for spring/summer so maybe a tshirt or thin shirt underneath, not bulky insulation. Would you recommend a large or xlarge?
I was debating the Helium 2, and then I found this jacket on sale. This video confirmed all the questions I had about the jacket. Thanks! Got me the Ash color in medium; yellow was sold out!
@@robpelton Came back to say I've been wearing both the jacket and pants in the winter as a hardshell doing some serious ascents. Really happy with the purchase. Balling on a budget!
Hey brother, what’s your height and weight if ya don’t mind me asking? I’m 6’ tall and 210-215 generally. I usually wear a large. Would you recommend a large in this jacket as well?
HI! i really like the video, great job, just one question because you underlined one interest features, i wanna use this jacket for snowbording, mountaineering or mountain climbing, so sometimes I have to use it with a jacket, is it good idea? thanks for your time
Hilarious and informative review; I wish I had your sense of humor. I am between this jacket and the OR Helium ii hybrid for a jacket to use in 45-70f for shielding out some rain, a little wind, and adding a little warmth. I want it for very active activities like trail running and mountain biking, to take along and use when needed, carry when not, or stuff in my camelback. Which would you suggest? Any other suggestions?
Love the video. Nice touch of humor too. How durable would you say this jacket is? I'm a cable tech and I've been trying a few jackets. Some are too clammy and others aren't waterproof enough. Just trying to find that perfect waterproof to breathability ratio.
This jacket has held up well. It is considered a light duty garment though. Depending on the environment, it could tear. Just like anything else I spose. Thanks for watching!
that was a cool review. just wanted to get an idea of how to stow the jacket away into it's right hand pocket. though this video didn't go into detail you gave me enough footage to get it. thanks. -jdr
Cool review Rob! Too bad no rain just drive up north it won't stop up here the SHT is a muddy mess...I just put the lady version in my Amazon cart...love your humor...the WhiteClaw rocks!
Hi, Rob, thanks for the great video about my new Black Diamond jacket...I was hoping you'd explain how to tighten the hood, and you did!!! A great sense of humor goes a long way, but maybe tone down the occasional foul mouth...other than that, you are a natural, lots of great info!!
wow, that was a very informative and funny video! i decided to buy the jacket based on your video. i just placed the order for 80 dollars, was on sale. :)
after having used the jacket for about three weeks now, i can say: great jacket! very lightweight, comfortable, and totally watertight (i have put it on and went for a shower at home :D). i especially like the jacket for cycling as it blocks the wind and has large zips at the armpits. when hiking it fits in an outside pocket of my osprey backpack. when we had lunch at a lake i used the jacket to sit on so my jeans wouldn‘t get dirty and wet. a size L fits perfectly over a patagonia nano puff size L. one small negative aspect is that the hood is not detachable. when cycling i roll up the hood, otherwise it catches the wind and acts like a parachute. overall 9/10, can recommend. :)
Thanks for this video. I wanted a lighter rain jacket that wasn't as heavy and, often, unnecessary as my 3-layer, and initially I went after the Marmot Precip (an easy option), but I hated it. Terrible fit, plus a cheap feel to it... And in the store came across this BD one I wasn't aware (I normally don't think of BD for clothes to be honest). The stretchiness makes a hell of a difference, so does the design of the hood. I ordered my size, we'll see!
how about 4 to 10 hours in a downpour....how is the sweating and condensation....as anything works in the short haul.....I found out that only a poncho kept me dry....
I just got back home after wearing this under quite heavy rain for 40 mins and rain got inside this jacket. Very dissapointed. The quality is poor. BD products become more and more poor over the last years. So overrated.
Better video if he actually showed me how to stuff this into its own pocket. Too fast and the camera not even showing the method, pointing to high. This thing is not easy to figure out! Here's a video that actually shows how to do it. ruclips.net/video/LLSj9cztwl4/видео.htmlfeature=shared
Ah! My B! I’ve had a few jackets with that feature. So, I knew how it’s done. I’ve should’ve not assumed everyone else did as well. Thanks for the feedback and for watching!
Down to earth with a sense of humor. Love it man. Enjoy the great outdoors. I'm gonna get one
Appreciate the kind words. I hope the jacket works as well for you as it does me. Thanks for watching!
Dude...you’re a friggin riot. 😂
Ha! Gotta laugh at yourself sometimes. Thanks for watching!
Best video I've seen so far for this raincoat was lookin at gettin one and your hilarious too bud lol
Thanks! I appreciate that. Haha.
Is this jacket quieter than the usual rain jacket materials? Less crincklely?
Also what's the inside pocket situation? Any?
Not super crinkley. No inside pocket.
I bought this jacket and took it on a 8 mile hike up a mountain in a downpour and it was a champ. It kept me dry and as a added bonus i got asked twice about the jacket. I would suggest keeping an eye out at the REI outlet to snag a discount.
Very nice! Yeah, REI carried it for a while, but no longer. Thanks for the insight and for watching!
hello, for the down jacket and the waterproof jacket, did you take the same size? thank you
Yes indeed.
Very helpful. Love mine too.
Thanks!
Excellent! Thanks for watching!

Awesome review, thanks.

I am 5’ 8”. 205lbs. I would thing a large would be just fine for ya. Let me know how it goes. Thanks for watching!
Thanks, was wondering how to stuff it in the pocket lol. The pull-out pocket method, one might say.
Ha! Glad I could help!
Do you have the pants too? Wondering how they are.
I do not. I just have REI rain pants. Thanks for watching!
Fun review! Thanks for sharing all the info!
Thanks for watching!
I can’t wait to watch more videos from you.
I appreciate the support!

I think it would work just fine. It does stretch a bit. That helps, but keep in mind, it’s still a rain jacket. Thanks for watching!
Rob, you're hilarious! Thanks for the great review
Funny looking too. Thank for watching!

And here I was REALLY hoping you were walking to a waterfall to test it! 😆
Good review. A little weighty for me, but looks like a solid jacket.
I did actually. Lots of them! This was my go to while in Iceland. It’s also where the pic was taken. Thanks for watching!
Hey nice review can tell u had alot of fun making this- hows the durability after you posted this? still holding up?
Still going strong! I use it as a wind layer as well.
Awesome jacket
It has served me well.
Great review.

Loving the cholo reviews
That is not fully ajustible ;)
Semi-fully adjustable? 🤔😁
Maybe do a review after you have used it for 6 months? 🤔
