    For large projects and countless plugins, it makes sense to use sub-projects with tracks of smaller instrument sections. Subprojects, can be simply loaded in your main project as a track. This has saved my poor old computer tons of workload. All thanks to Kenny Geoia for this feature demo. I don't see something similar on the other daws I have used in the past. Reaper is now my main DAW.

    Instead of routing, just make a track folder that contains both tracks and apply the plugin to the folder.

    Thank you. Other things to think about:
    Some plug-ins don’t affect the audio like meters and analysers. Use ctl+alt+b (win) to offline them when not in use.
    Get to know the cpu profile of every plug-in you use. Multi-function plug-ins are often more efficient than discrete ones.
    Doing A-B tests and balance the input and output levels for each plug-in can sometimes reduce plug-in count.
    Learn how to control compressors with a side-chain.
    Learn how to shutdown background apps and disable unnecessary os services.
    Look into reWire and a separate computer to remotely host plug-ins.

      Thanks! Yeah good tips. If your on Windows make sure to disable fast startup as well as it only hibernates your PC when you shut down and can clog up your memory. Obviously a faster PC will always help.

    Useful resource - I stumbled across your video while troubleshooting some bias FX popping issues which I presumed were lined to CPU overload (even though my CPU never went above 50 percent). Lowering CPU demand didn't help, naturally, as my CPU had power to spare, but it was still helpful to eliminate it as the culprit. :)

    • @PylosLight
      @PylosLight 3 года назад

      @@brothersinmetal1922 Moved the tracks to a new project and that fixed the problem. I assume the issue was a poor BIAS FX programming when running multiple instances of it. I also have a suspicion that deleting half a dozen tracks with Bias FX on them in the old project didn't fully make those plug-in instances disappear so that may have contributed as well. *Shrug*

    Firs off, I meet the band HammerFall by Dec 17th1998 in their Templar World Crusade U.S.A. Tour. After the show, we sat down to talk and got the single Glory to the Brave signed. Joacim said: "I don't remember that this album came out"....lol
    (Back to the topic)
    I have a trouble shooting with no luck to find the answer.
    I use Reaper to practice playing drums adding a click track that I create from scratch (due to different time signatures) along with the song to practice with. Two tracks in total...nothing fancy, no plugins, fx's... nothing. Now...everytime I playback, randomly stops for a second and then continue.
    I delete it and re-intall it all back, even try to communicate with the website..but there's no use. The computer I have is a 2020 HP - ENVY x360 15.6" Touch-Screen Laptop - AMD Ryzen 5 - 32GB Memory - 256GB SSD.
    What you think I should do brother?

    Hi. I have a problem. My computer crashed so I had to buy a new SSD Hard drive. I installed new windows 10 and installed reaper again from a new download. I have not changed or bought any other new hardware. My problem is that when I use the plugin Cakewalk TTS-1 and MT-PowerDrumKit Reaper Dumps. Can you tell what that can be?
    And every now and then when I start up Reaper, without having any other program open, and try to play something, the sound is distorted and horrible, How to solve that? Thank you
    .

    • @brothersinmetal1922
      @brothersinmetal1922  3 года назад

      I know cakewalk sometime freaks out with older 32bit plugins....I would try to delete the plugin and re-install it. The stuttering might be a driver issue, but also look into disabling hybrid sleep in windows if you haven't already. It can cause some issues since it basically never fully powers your PC off. If you are still having issues with MTpowerdrum kit I would give Steven Slate 5.5 a try. Its free to use and honestly I think it sounds nicer and is more customizable. Thanks for watching man. ;)

    Question! I'm new to Reaper... I downloaded a bunch of orchestra VSTs from East West for a few specific projects, but now I find every time I launch reaper, it takes about 15-20 minutes to scanning these orchestra plugins... If I want to load a project and use piano only, is there a way to stop it from scanning these orchestra libraries? I thought about moving them, but then wondered if it would throw the orchestra VSTs offline for my orchestra projects? If anyone can help, it'd be greatly appreciated!

    • @brothersinmetal1922
      @brothersinmetal1922  2 года назад

      Not sure exactly what you mean by making them offline but you can right click on plugins in your chain and select "toggle selected FX offline". That will preserve your settings but completely shut the plugin off and keep it from using PC resources or loading next time if the project is saved.
      You can ALSO edit the folder locations that Reaper checks for VSTs in the preferences panel under "VST". Keep in mind it also checks folders under the specified folder. So if you have plugins under C:\VST\ and you have another folder in there like C:\VST\Guitar\ it will also check that as well. So if you want to exclude some plugins from being scanned, you can omit folders from being scanned or sort your plugins into different folders. There is also a checkbox in preferences to whether or not to scan for new plugins on startup.

    My problem is I am having the sound cut out for specific tracks at random times(vocals, guitars etc) Only happens with tracks with plug ins on them. One of the plug ins(drums does not do this). The thing is none of my CPU, RAM, Disk etc even gets close to maxing out. At the highest Memory/ram will go to 60 percent. CPU usually idles at 2-25 percent. Bleh wish me luck lol May be an issue with the plugins but not happening for anyone else

    • @brothersinmetal1922

      I would try to adjust your ASIO buffer to a higher number. Even if your CPU isn’t being completely pegged out it still might be struggling to keep up. Also if you are using a laptop, make sure all your power settings are set to performance and that you are plugged into AC power. While running off the battery most laptops with throttle CPU speeds to save battery. Hope this helps!

    • @tylerglossup8221
      @tylerglossup8221 3 года назад

      @@brothersinmetal1922 thanks! Never thought about the whole power settings part. I am on a laptop. I just set it all to performance. I think I did fix my issue though. One plugin I noticed every time the audio would "skip" it was due to a pop up advertisement. I fixed that. Then the other track stopped skipping once I turned off a plugin that is a double effect. Did not really need it so I kept it off.
