Great video. Just one thing!! I wish you would sort out your camera work. Please get a steady cam or hold the camera still please. I always feel dizzy after watching your videos... Sorry just had to mention 👍👍
If you ever come back, check out Elvis Shakespeare at the bottom of the same road (Leith Walk) and Almond River Records on St John's Road. Top places as well.
Love some Dread Zeppelin, a mix of Led Zeppelin and some Elvis, through rock and reggae styles, band fronted by Tortelvis, an Elvis look and soundalike.
I came to Edinburgh when I was 16, Vinyl Villians was one of my favorite shops, along with the small bakers at the bottom of Leith.
I remember selling all my Iron Maiden picture discs there during a period of unemployment. Loved buying albums on record and cassette there over the many years, sold many too. You could pretty much go through every record most pay days just looking to find something.
My dad was the same, continually looking for records and rarities from his 70's days. He would then sneak in past mum and secret his day's purchases into the record shelves.
Great seeing it on the channel.
I discovered Vinyl Villians in the late 80’s when vinyl was very uncool, CD was on the rise and people were ditching their vinyl. It was the ideal time to acquire records and I used to leave this shop with loads of excellent vinyl. I don’t live near but I always called in for a look every time I was in Edinburgh. I still call along but the prices have obviously gone up. One thing I can vouch for and that is the excellent quality of their vinyl.
You should call at the Leeds record fair on the way back to the land of watery lager. 😉
Would love to see a video of his collection!
I love your videos! We have such similar tastes. I'm a huge fan of 80's Heavy Metal and 70's artists like S. Quatro, Sweet, Slade, Deep Purple, and Black Sabbath. Your channel is an amazing source of enjoyment for me! Keep on digging....the crates.
Great as always, Edinburgh is such a beautiful city.
I can highly recommend the first four Emerson Lake & Palmer albums (sorry Dave!!)
Debut, Tarkus, Trilogy and Pictures at an Exhibition are outstanding. Uk Island issues sound better than later Manticore re-issues.
I really appreciate how you guys are all about the music! I’m turned off by a few VC/RUclipsrs in the US who are more about becoming celebrities in their own right. By the way, Robert Plant is a fan of Dread Zeppelin❤️
Hi guys. I love watching the videos…… I think 😂 A few months ago I moved to the Philippines. While I was back in England, me and a couple of mates loved to go to the record fairs, and visit different cities touring the record shops. But over the last year, I stopped buying so many, knowing that it would be difficult to send too many, I already had about 600 to send. Glad to say all my records are here in the Philippines now, but still waiting for part of my hifi. I really miss our record shop visits, so having just found your channel a few days ago, I’m managing to get a bit of the buzz of the hunt, but just end up jealous because I can’t add to my collection 😂 There’s is a few record shops over here in the big cities, I’ve managed to visit one so far and added a few albums to my collection, plus I got a freind to send me a new release, so not all back news. btw, I went the vinyl Villains about 1989, it’s been there a long time. Thanks again for the buzz of the hunt..
I went there on a recent visit to Edinburgh , great shop. Don’t forget to look up when you go. 😁
Really enjoying your videos. Saw you skipped the PT album Jake. Worth checking out, if you haven't already. Think you'd both really like them.
If you fancy a day out at the seaside. Felixstowe has two good record shops Groove Yard records and Onion vinyl. They’re bang next door to each other. Plus loads of charity shops and Nick Barber auctions shop also had lots of vinyl. I’ll even buy you both an ice cream 😬. Loving the vids guys. Thanks.
I went there when I first started collecting and thought the shop was very reasonable! Would love to go back now I’ve got a proper wantlist
Just started watchinng and subscribed few days ago and you guys here inn the burgh ! got a few good records down there before not too pricey !
First time viewer here. Really enjoyed your dig. If you have the two Taste studio albums, you don’t need the live album. Prices seemed reasonable. I’d definitely hit that shop up. Cheers. 🇨🇦🇨🇦
I own that actual copy of Samurai there (THAT copy, I bought it there around the time of your video). I was tempted by the Medieval Steel too, that is stupidly rare.
Nice video.....very cool shop....thanks guys.....
Amazing video as always! Absolutely love you guys and your content! ❤ Do you have a favourite band/artist? 😅
i did spot a STACKWADDY album in the s section .....that would have been a good score.
Backbeat Records in Edinburgh is a great shop and a real nice guy that owns it
You shouldn't have ignored that Heavy Pettin' album. Killer album.
Love it lads 🤘
Thanks for your videos I love you guys. It could be awesome to have some captions for non-english viewers and of course it will help with the engagement 😊 . It'll be awesome 🎉
The RUclips CC button gives you captions and subtitles, it's not perfect but close enough.
Would like to visit Edinburgh myself oneday for vinyl hunting. You guys recommend it compared to London?
Lets Go Mets
I’ve been looking for a bag like the one you have for putting albums in can you tell me where you got it from please?
I see that Taste often here in Canada.
Only been to Edinburgh once and there was a shop called Unknown Pleasures. No idea if its still there.
Gone unfortunately. Shut down during COVID and never reopened. Sadly missed.
Dread Zeppelin do Led Zeppelin in a reggae/ska style.
The wall stock isn’t well positioned, you’ll fall over while looking about lol.
Typical Scottish weather eh. Welcome to Scotland guys. Sorry it was such an uneventful trip, seems a bit far to to come to then leave more or less empty handed, better luck next time.
I go to this shop a fair bit, but rarely find anything. Bootlegs galore. It used to be good, but it's losing its appeal.
Dread Zeppelin 😂 I just listened to that album. Its terrible.
Elvis Shakespeare is far better, nice staff as well as Avalanche Records, the owner in Vinyl Villains looks at everyone as if they've asked him to donate a kidney.... prick
😂😂
That'll be the wee gay socialist then... 😅 Prat. I kept them in cash for years & always got that fkn look. They haven't seen one penny of mine since around '92 🖕 villains by name...
Got to say, I know it's personal preference, but that Dread Zeppelin is shite.
The shop is okay but I never seem to find anything exciting. The owners a miserable git.
Dont waste your time on stupid new bands that have no identity , get back to the killer metal n prog train🎉
Wonderful shoppe....pointless video. U guys best keep your day jobs as street sweepers!!
I hope you visited Elvis Shakespeare just down the road.
