How does mime stack? Does it only stack with the original card's boosts? i.e. 1.5 (steel) x 1.5 (red dot) x 1.5 x 1.5 (mime'd) or do the blueprints stack the total mime amount as well? so (1.5^4) ^ 4 . I don't think mime doubles up on what Baron is doing.

This should be a win condition/achievement, like the whole screen just collapses in on itself and you get sent back to the title screen and Jimbo starts speaking in tongues.
Okay, assuming I understand the logic, here's the breakdown of the final score: The chips and base mult are pretty inconsequential, but they are 485 and 49. The real score comes from the Xmult, which is generated by Steel, Baron, Baron (Blueprint), and Baron (Brainstorm). This loop triggers 4 times (Initial, Red Seal, Mime, and Mime (Blueprint)). Final result is 16 total triggers per RS Steel King. The equation for this is: Xmult = 1.5^(16*n) where n is the number of RS Steel Kings held in hand. To factor in the chips and base score, they are converted to base 1.5 and added to the exponent. So the final score is: Score = 1.5^(24.85+16*n) Plugging all of this into Wolfram Alpha with n=255 after all cryptids were used, we get a final score around 6.73e722.
Actually, the chips are not inconsequential, because they are what all that mult applies to; adding just 50 chips in would make a world of difference even if he was getting a full (x1.5)*handsize LESS mult.
@@KainYusanagi adding 50 chips would move the total to 7.42e722. Not non-zero, but it’s only about a x1.1 increase. Adding one more card to hand, meanwhile, would bump us up to 4.42e725, a full x656 increase. For scale, the lowest possible base score (level 1 high card at 5x1) would give 1.41e719. This is the first time though that I’ve seen someone explain their setup like this though and I really appreciated it. Even though I’ll probably never go for an infinity run, I feel like that really helped me understand the game even a little bit more.
For some quick maths on getting that legendary in the arcana tag. The mega arcana tag is 1 of 24 tags in Balatro, having two tags appear per reload mean the odds of it appearing is 1 in 12 or 8.3…%. The Soul Card has a 2% chance to appear for every arcana pack opened meaning there is a 1 in 600 or 0.16…% for an arcana pack to appear and have a Soul Card. The Soul Card summons 1 of 5 Legendary Jokers making the odds of an arcana pack to appear with a Soul Card and that card to be Perkeo is 1 in 3333.3 or 0.03…%. And that is crazy that you got that on your first try! Also if anyone was wondering the odds of finding Perkeo or any one of the 5 legendary’s from any arcana or spectral packs from the shop it is a 1 in 250 or 0.4% chance. Okay, so originally this is where this comment ended but I kept thinking about this and realized that the odds can differ in two different scenarios that are basically the same. You can get two arcana tags in one reload either by getting two arcana tags or specifically have the first tag be a double tag and the second to be an arcana tag as if the double tag was second it wouldn’t copy the arcana. The odds of getting a double arcana is 1 in 264 or 0.378…%, this makes the odds of finding Perkeo in this scenario 1 in 1666.6… or 0.6%
The math of luck does put things into perspective. When I got the soul one immediately without even trying, or knowing it existed I thought it was normal. Turns out it’s not
Man I love me some Balatro. My brain didn't realize you'd get to INF that way. My brain thought you'd make negative high cards and use the upgraded telescope voucher to try and get there. Putting all the bangers on this channel I see.
I mean, it makes sense if you know CompSci. Lua internally uses doubles (double-length floating point numbers) for their number type, and the max value of a double is 1.798e308. Going any higher will result in positive infinity. So really, it's a matter of whether the game will allow numbers to get that large. Balatro does allow it, which is why we're able to see a score of naneinf
@@millie_the_beetle no, you fill your hand with steel kings with cryptid cards, then you copy mime and baron and have like hundreds of kings in your hand that retrigger multiple times to score off baron.
Perkeo and observatory are a potent combo (how I got my current record), but this is much more effective because each cryptid effectively gives him 130 mult per card (1.5^12) instead of just 1.5 per Pluto.
I literally watched a video just like this 30 minutes ago (seeded and slightly different strategy), but this is way more impressive and cool. Great video
@@AR-ly5zt you can see it in the end screen 6:00 it will say seeded on seeded runs so unless he edited it or modded it to not say which I highly doubt this is legit
Nicely done! I actually got basically the same run yesterday, with the exception that I got a Perkeo on like ante 9, after I had already built a mime Baron run. I barely had enough time to stockpile enough cryptids before the blinds outscaled me, but it ultimately came together. Unfortunately this means I need to return to the gold in stake grind haha
I mean, in the code it is infinity, since any number over the max value turns into positive infinity. But if the game used numbers that can be of any length (variable length encoding of floating point numbers, specifically), then infinity would be impossible to achieve.
specifically its Not a Number x 10^infinity which doesnt actually mean anything, its just bugging out when trying to do floating point operations on an invalid number (positive infinity in this case) maybe its doing a division by infinity on infinity in an attempt to get the part of the number before the E to display it? inf/inf = NaN in floating point so u end up displaying nan e inf on screen (but the internal value is just inf)
I love how he got another soul in the middle of the run from an arcana and doesent even comment as any other thing would give him such a lower score a legendary isent even worth mentioning
Optimal strategy with this setup is to balance your retriggers and your effects. With red seals acting as Mime and Steel acting as Baron, you want to put an equal amount of copy effects on Mime and Baron, with one more on Mime if you have an odd number of copies iirc. Importantly, this means that cjay was missing out on a lot of chips before he got the Brainstorm by putting both Blueprints on Baron.
Interesting. I guess that makes sense, logically, if not intuitively. Whatever the case, he won, so unless he finds out about the Double Mr. Bones trick, or balances his deck to make it to Ante 39, I imagine this will be the natural limit. Unmodded, at least.
@@emiel03Actually, putting both Blueprints on Baron didn't matter here. What you do is count the amount of times a card trigger gives you xMult, and how many times each card triggers, and multiply the two, which gives the number of "1.5x" happening total. You want the two quantities you're multiplying to be as close as possible for optimal scoring. At that point, without the Blueprints, he had 2 xMults per trigger (Baron, Steel) and 3 triggers per card (base, seal, Mime). The first blueprint had to be on Baron to balance it (3-3). Then the next one didn't matter because 4x3 and 3x4 are the same. However, when he got BS, it was then optimal to get another Mime in for perfect 4x4=16 (instead of 3x5=15), so he needed two Baron copies and 1 Mime copy, which is exactly what he was running. TL;DR: since your base cards have two triggers (base and seal) but only one xMult (Steel), Baron should be prioritized often while still overall balancing
