This video is a example of why I enjoy trucker videos and I am a subscriber to the channels I am.
I always enjoy beautiful scenery in my opinion truckers see the most breath taking scenery traveling all over that most regular people would never get the chance to see.
Thank you to all truckers for taking fans and subscribers along for the ride

Thank you very much for your ride along vlog, you're right, not great for a truck route but really beautiful. I enjoy the placement of your camera, centered on the hood ornament. It reminds me of when I was 9 we had a 66 Lincoln Continental. Coming back from Florida my dad let me take the wheel I asked him how to know where my center of the road was and he said just line up the hood ornament with the line to the right and you're in the center. So thank you once again. A wonderful ride with a delightful tour guide and a mind full of happy memories! Keep the faith. Scott

That's the kind of ride, on that kind of day, when you wish you had the person you care about riding along with you.

I once took what i thought was a short cut. It was on HWY 60 back in the late mid 80's. I was empty at the time, Thank GOD! It was just after night fall. It was before I-64 section was completed.
It took me over 2 hours to get from White Sulphur Springs WV. to Charleston WV. OMG, There were a few two lane hair pin turns on this section at the time. I had to put my tractor on the right shoulder, And my trailer barely made it around the turn using the other lane and shoulder while almost rubbing the guard rail. Before entering the curve, we had to call out on the CB that we were northbound entering the curve to warn oncoming traffic. I tell ya, It was actually a lot of fun. But yet very tiring after a while. It was quite the workout. It would have been much worse if I were fully loaded. UGH! Thanks for rekindling some of my old memories Cindy! "Happy Trails",........... Ken,....

I was in a Miata club for 10 years and we loved roads like that. However not so good in a tractor trailer! Roads like that make you really appreciate freeways.
Good of you to pull over and let the traffic go by.
I didn't see any other trucks, just a tanker by the side of the road.
Enjoyed the video, thanks for posting it.

Hi Cindy ! I went across Rt. 250 to 219 going to Snow Shoe W. Va. in 1977 with equipment for the ski lodge . The truck was a Mack with no power steering, engine brake, or air ride suspension or seat ! Brakes were smoking a couple times and I was having thoughts about my life ! Safe travels !

Many, many, many, many years ago, we drove from south GA to western NY before I79 & I77 were built. Talk about narrow, winding roads! Even for a car it was careful, slow going. Then we drove the Pacific Coast Highway. Parts of it is only 20 mph speed limit. Then we went to Maui and drove the road to Hana. That road is 52 miles long with about 620 sharp curves (12 sharp curves per mile) and 59 bridges of which 46 are single lane - you learn to wait your turn and very few guard rails to keep you from going into the Pacific. Average speed 20 mph. That's a fun drive if you're adventurous.
Like your videos! Almost like riding in the right seat with you (or riding as a hood ornament). Keep 'em comming.

For me, & I'm not going out on a limb here 90% of the video good, bad or otherwise is the host/ hostess 10% is the the content. If you can go into the video with a pleasant attitude & leave with same you've got a win win. Your good looks ingratiate the video too. If you present like you've just had lunch from a mud puddle, followed by a mouthful of peeled lemons you're hitting after a stinker ball. As a retired trucker I watch & I watch because of you. Besides, Flatbed Chick is a name grabber. 👍👍

I live in Michigan .. I bought a Ford 8,000 Cab Over Utility Truck in Oregon just to get a good 3208 Cat Turbo Motor with Allison Auto Transmission in it.. that's 2,500 miles away .. It was the middle of the Summer during a drought .. So I recharged the Air Conditioning in my Geo Tracker that has a tow bar.. All the Refrigerant leaked out over night .. Thus I had no air on my dive at 90 to 100 F out. I slept in a Cow Pasture one night in Montana.. You can make good time in a car like 18 hours per day driving.. Just pull over and sleep a bit when you get tired..
Had lots of work to do on the Truck to make it drivable had all my tools with me.
Truck needed 3 batteries . I bought the Truck from a Salvage yard / rebuilder/ Truck parts store.. They sold me 3 rebuilt batteries which were a joke and failed.. Also the Alternator stopped working 50 miles into the trip .. I changed the fuel filter ect.. before I started out.. I made another Trip when I got home in MI and the Fuel filter clogged on that trip too and did not have a spare.. I had to climb on top of a Hill and call a NAPA and get a filter delivered to me on the side of the road... and a filter wrench It makes me sick to realize I drive 2,500 miles with a clogged air filter that looked ok visually .. I was down on power and it smoked.. .. but I was at higher altitudes too so was not as suspicious at the time.
Since the Alternator was not working and it was a very rare Ford One .. I decided to buy 3 new batteries a charger and an extension cord.
I left a Hotel Yuma Ca going south on I-5 made it 30 miles form Yuma .. going Uphill in one Lane Construction Zone . One narrow Lane blocked on both sides with concrete barriers. I could hear my Clutch fan roaring going up the 10 mile long hill .. I was 1 mile from the top when the Truck started steaming.. Turns out the belt that turns the water pump disintegrated .. The fan was turning but not the water pump ..
I had to drive almost 1 mile up a steep mountain Grade to get to some place I could stop with out blocking traffic. I shut it down flipped open the Cab .. The belt was totally gone but I had a Tape Measure.. and measured around the pullys.. Took my Geo Tracker and drove 30 miles back to Yuma on a Sunday to the same Murray's Auto parts store that I had bought 3 batteries earlier that morning..
They had really cheap belts.. I bought several different links .. Went back to my truck put belts on it .. Put Anti Freeze in it and I was on my way again .
I stopped in Redding .. it was 105 F I decided to replace all the belts with NAPA Gold belts.. Found a Local Starter / Alternator Rebuilder .. Who sold me a Moto craft F-6 Alternator to replace the Leese Naville the truck had on it.. Ford has to amke everything odd.. It;s a single leg Alternator.. Where as so many Trucks use the Delco style Double Leg Alternator.. that's what my Freightliner with 400 HP Cummins engine uses.. Many class 8 Trucks also use direct drive alternators with no belt at all .. Say Mac and Detroit Diesels..
I needed a 2 1/4" Wrench to remove the Fan Hub.. It would take NAPA a week to get one.. I went into the Truck Stop Garage .. the one where I was working in their Parking lot in 105 F heat.. and Offered a Mechanic like $40.00 for his made in China 2 1/4" Open / box wrench.. Then I went to a machine shop and had to have .. over 1/3 of the material ground off from the Open end. Wrench to make it a thin one that would fit behind the fan hub pulley ..I also had to loosen the radiator brackets move radiator forward remove fan shroud ect.. I think I stayed at the same Motel a second night.. Then was on my way again.. I made it across the Great Salt Lake Dessert .. but had a blow out in Nebraska.. I had to drive into town to a tire dealer and pick out a radial recap and a tubeless rim.. Ended up having to hire the Tire service guy out with his service truck jacks air wrenches and air compressor.. .. I probably could not have even carried the tire in my Geo Tracker .. Too small and too many tools and junk in the tracker .. I was only like 25 miles from that town .
YOU CAN SAVE A LOT OF MONEY IF YOU CARRY YOUR OWN TOOLS.. MANY OWNER OPERATORS CARRY SPARE BELTS AND A SPARE ALTERNETOR IN THE CAB OF THEIR TRUCK ..

I feel for you! Have done the back roads a few times. Every time I swear I will never do that again in a big rig! The stress level is to high. Thanks for sharing now I don't feel so bad... thinking I'm the only crazy person that made that mistake.....

A lot of people come to West Virginia for riding their bikes.... and of course the Run for the wall comes thru a small tow east of us called Rainell West Virginia.

That truck is fully in your hands! It's really time for you to get a better truck. I would go get yourself a brand new peterbilt 389 from Rush Truck Center. Paying the payment on a brand new truck is a heck of a lot less money than what you spend on maintenancing that old truck.

You handled those curvy roads like the pro you are Cindy!!!!
My boss at one time wanted me to avoid the tolls in West Virginia, I ended up on a small road with no stripes on either side or in the middle with a pickup truck and a piece of Machinery behind me. Just a word of advice if you're going to avoid the tolls stay off of Paint Creek Road!!!!

young lady, there is nothing wrong with route 60 across W Va. it does tend to separate the truck drivers from the steering wheel holders. try this road with a 1980 Mack F model cabover with a Maxidyne engine de-rated to 200 horsepower. Back when Smiths Transfer was in business, we pounded across thos route from Charleston to the Virginia line then up to home terminal in Staunton Va. I probably ran that route over a hundred times.

Diesel mechanic over 40 years. Very hard best a Cat if you do your maintenance & operator don't missabuse them. I keep hearing Cat going back in engines for on road again. I like Cummins too them some great engines themselves. Lot is proper maintenance is the key.
