Lyrics:
The Very Hungry Caterpillar
By Eric Carle
Adapted by Mr. Matt
In the light of the moon lay an egg on a leaf.
Everybody go to sleep (zzzz)
Mama moon said "Goodnight egg.
Goodnight egg.
Goodnight egg.
Tomorrow's the first day of school."
Can everyone say pop?
Out of egg came a tiny caterpillar.
"Hello!" said Principal Sun.
"Hello!" said the caterpillar.
The caterpillar was feeling hungry.
On Monday it ate one apple.
Chomp!
But it was still hungry.
On Tuesday it ate two green pears.
Chomp! Chomp!
But it was still hungry.
On Wednesday it ate three plums.
Chomp! Chomp! Chomp!
But it was still hungry.
On Thursday it ate four strawberries.
Chomp! Chomp! Chomp! Chomp!
But it was still hungry.
On Friday it ate five oranges.
Chomp! Chomp! Chomp! Chomp! Chomp!
But it was still hungry.
On Saturday the caterpillar ate
one piece of chocolate cake, one ice cream, one pickle, one cheese, one salami,
One lollipop, one piece of cherry pie, one sausage, one cupcake and one slice of watermelon.
Can you hold you belly?
"My belly hurts!" said the caterpillar.
The caterpillar had a belly ache.
So the caterpillar decided to go on a crash diet.
On Sunday the caterpillar ate on green leafy salad.
Chomp!
"What a relief! A tasty leaf!"
Now the caterpillar wasn't a tiny caterpillar anymore.
It was a huge. Ginormous. Enormous. Humongous. Great. Big. Caterpillar!!!!
It wrapped itself up in a chrysalis.
Wrap yourself into a chrysalis.
To turn into a butterfly.
Wrap yourself in a cocoon.
To turn into a moth.
The caterpillar slept for two weeks.
When it woke up it chewed once!
Twice! Three times!
It stretched its wings out and it became a
BUTTERFLY!
I want to fly!
Like a beautiful butterfly!
I want to fly!
Like a beautiful butterfly!
