It's established in the series that the more valuable a thing you're sacrificing to the gods and the more magnificent it is by that burning ritual, the more a god will listen to you if you're praying to him. Sally dropped a gas station match into an already eaten sunday only saying help, and he came immedeately. That's love right there, and the consequences of Olympus finding out about it would have been percy being killed by something from their world much earlier on. He had to be abscent, but even if forbidden he showed up by their rules just to talk to her and try to help her out. Zeus still found out about the conversation so he's warded away from talking to percy by the thunderclap, but never say that Poseidon doesn't love Sally and Percy.
I love this scene! We never got to see them interact in the book, so it’s great to see it on the show!! You can tell they have a deep connection and care for each other and once loved each other, but they can’t risk losing control again. I love the co-parenting dynamic they have figured out.
They did and I found it really disturbing. Sally blushes and is clearly still into him whenever they talk about him. I always felt Paul's presence kinda odd and I feel like he's just a substitute for the Poseidon Sally couldn't have a life with.
All the non-book flashback scenes in episode seven with Sally were fantastic additions and this Sally and Poseidon scene was literally the best scene/moment in season one so far for me and the ending of episode seven was literally the best ending to an episode in season one so far to me... Such a satisfying and epic ending to episode seven... This scene right here is definitely a real example of an addition that improves the story. This scene has great writing, dialogue, acting, directing, etc. 👍
This scene had me screaming. When she put the match out and the thunder rolled, I knew exactly what was gonna happen. Probably the most exciting part of the show for me, had me on my toes. The actors so nailed this. You can see the chemistry.
As much as my inner child is loving the show and watching the trio be kids, just like in the books, the adult in me NEEDS a prequel about Sally and Poseidon’s meeting and time in Montauk together. The chemistry, restrained emotion, heartbreak, pining between them was so masterfully done. You sense the deep care and regard they still have for each other, the forbidden love between them that can never be and keeping them apart, yet united in their love for their son. To convey all of THAT in less than 5 minutes, AND without once looking at each other?! Virginia and Toby nailed it! 🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽👏🏾👏🏾❤️❤️❤️❤️😤😤😤😤
I love this scene it really shows that Poseidon loves and cares about percy, when reading the books it took me until book 3 to relise Poseidon cares about percy
Navy SEAL slash struggling father from "Lost in Space" (I watched that show at least twice through) it didn't surprise me that he was cast but I was excited about it
For Black Sails fans. The writer and producer of the show, Steinberg, is also writer and producer of Black Sails. And of course we now have Captain Flint as Poseidon and Max as Medusa. Black Sails podcast Fathoms Deep host is also a co-writer of this show Anyways, im here to see Toby Stephens mainly. Edit: oh and of course Bear McCreary did the soundtrack for both!
While it wasn't my main reason it sure was a very big plus point and i screamed when i read he would be Poseidon. Thank you so much for the information.
I didn’t know who was playing Medusa from Black Sails, but from the CW’s DC live-action The Flash show. She plays Barry Allen’s and Iris West’s daughter from the future in that, so that’s how I knew her.
"I want him to learn who he is, before your family tries to tell him who they want him to be." As an autistic individual, and recognizes that this moment is a love letter to all of the families of individuals who are challenged by some form of deficiency, I can't help but fall in love with this scene.
I see Toby Stevens and Ruth Wilson played in Jane Eyre miniseries 2006 when i studier Jane Eyre in english and then Ruth Wilson played Marisa Coulter in His Dark Materials and Toby Stevens play Poseidon in Percy Jackson. They are super great than in the movies
As someoen who didn't READ the books but watch the show (my friend drag me into watching it LOL) holy shit..i was liek "wait is she doing the ask thing" before relise its raning and is liek "OH GOD!"
Was the thunder Zeus sending a warning to Poseidon not to or was it just Poseidon’s fear? Cause if it’s the former why didn’t Zeus kill Percy right there
its pretty known... Poseidon is the strongest of the 3... always has been but since zeus is the king of the olympians and plays "main character" persona, hes assumed to be the strongest... @@dreamsteddybearsmaster
Maybe it was to give a somewhat normal life, like any other kid who wants to find out what kind of person they’ll be, before his world is changed forever. As well as a way to keep him out of the city and away from Olympus, so Percy wouldn’t draw so much attention.
It’s not “safer” than homeschooling him. It’s just not possible, financially, for a single parent to homeschool a child without family support. That single parent has to earn an income, which homeschooling supersedes. Also, being in a boarding school rather than a normal public school, means that he will very rarely leave campus unless in a group surrounding him. They live at school, so he’s not going to be out and about attracting monsters, unlike if he were walking to and from school or taking public transport every day. Literally IN the city, near Olympus. 😊
Admittedly this guy did a great job, although I am a bit disappointed Logan Lerman wasn’t Poseidon. Dude deserves another chance. It’s not his fault his movie sucked.
Problem is he isn't close to Toby Stephens in the acting department, never mind the fact that he isn't nearly old enough to convincingly play Percy's father
AW STYX! Did they really have to cast the sad-faced dad from the Lost in Space remake? This is the main character's dad! Can't they use some one cooler? I mean I know they're going for big actors in this show but I'm sure they can do better. How about maybe Tom Welling?
Toby Stephens is way more than just the sad face dad in lost in space...... He is Mr Rochester, he is Captain Flint. He is much much more. He is an gobsmacking good actor

Poseidon wanting to talk to Percy, but the sound of thunder prevents him, masterful writing there
Omg yes! Such a great touch!!
I’m pretty sure that’s just Poseidon arriving since he can also control thunder maybe I’m wrong jus a thought
@@Herecomestheclips It didn't just happen when Poseidon arrived, but also when he was asked if he wanted to see Percy.
yeah that's just Zeus being a drama queen@@YSorrowYouths_Backup

Nice to see Poseidon and Sally together discussing their son Percy Jackson. Nice setup for Percy Jackson's battle with Ares.

They actually shared a short scene at the end of book 4, during Percy‘s birthday :)
They did and I found it really disturbing. Sally blushes and is clearly still into him whenever they talk about him. I always felt Paul's presence kinda odd and I feel like he's just a substitute for the Poseidon Sally couldn't have a life with.
The music in the background really adds to it, too. It's a drastic change between bright, loud and action-packed to dark, quiet and slow.
I love this depiction of Sally. She really feels like the type of person to have gotten the attention of the sea god
Finally the god of the seas appeared!
Poseidon is well characterized.
I'm really liking all the gods that have appeared in the series so far.

Just a friendly reminder that Poseidon is played by Toby Stephens who is the son of a legend himself: that of Dame Maggie Smith.
Srsly??????? OMG
@@sleepyboi5731 Yep seriously! The family is made for the supernatural I reckon!!!
I had no idea! That's so incredible!
@@Kelseyalicia I know right!!! Sometimes acting & other talents run in the family eg Look at The Skarsgard's , Eastwood's and Fiennes' for example!!!
So Percy Jackson is technically related to Minerva mcgonagall in a meta way
Toby nailed this.
That ending when he’s doing the voiceover when they’re on the beach hits wonderfully
I love this scene it really shows that Poseidon loves and cares about percy, when reading the books it took me until book 3 to relise Poseidon cares about percy
one of the most wholesome scenes I have seen in a TV-Show for a long time.
Captain Flint went from a great Captain to god of the sea
Was looking for fellow Black Sails fans
Yes! My thoughts exactly. Loved Toby as captain Flint, now he rocks as Poseidon as well 🔱

I wasn’t on board with all the changes from the books, but this scene right here solidified my faith in the series. Incredible acting and editing.
Hahaha well it's certified by the author & his wife!!!
I love that they never directly look at each other and yet it's still such a sweet romantic scene
If you say it, I will listen 😢

There really should be a parent group like in young justice for half blood families
This is by far my favorite scene in the show so far. Just felt so human and very well acted
I just love Toby so so much! He will forever be my Mr. Rochester....and he knocked Poseidon out of the park as well, of course
dam peak cinema right here

Percy is about to do to Ares what Kratos did to him in God of War.
Toby, who played Captain Flint in Black Sails, playing the God of the Seas is... oddly fitting.
Best scene in the show so far I think
This was a good scene! And a good show for that matter!
Poseidon played by the best pirate ever !

What is the name of series?
Percy Jackson and the olympians
Boku no Pico XDXD

Will we get Poseidon in episode8
Most likely because in the trailer it showed a shot of him in what looked like Olympus
Can somebody please explain what makes sending Percy off to boarding school safer than homeschooling him?

Still think Logan should have played Poseidon?
No, because Rick Riordan is responsible for the Casting Choice and he hated the movies so it’s clear that he’s not going to cast original trio
Plus in the books Percy looks like Poseidon and Walker Scobel looks nothing like Logan Lerman. He looks like he could be Toby Stephen’s son.
Nope, not at all!
Logan is too young to believably play Walkers father
@@padraicconway5985Exactly. If they really wanted to cast him, there are much better roles.
I’m going to watch Mangal Pandey
I feel sorry for Poseidon's Wife, she should get revenge against her cheating husband.
She probably cheated on him too TBH . The way of The Gods is they all cheat & backstab each other
