Great reels. Penn has really stepped their game up over the last few years. The slammer III is a beast. The clash is a great reel too for inshore fishing lures. Its really light. And for my spread, I use squall 30vsw. And the fathom 2 speeds. You cant beat this spinV for fishing live bait.
I totally agree. I have been wanting a slammer lll 6k for awhile now. Those fathoms will be my next 2 speed for sure. They all just last man. Hell I have a few battle lls that I have had for a few years and I beat the hell out of them and they work like they did when I took them out of the box. I am a big Penn fanboy haha
37 Lbs so far with this reel, trying to top that this summer but have yet to succeed. I'll keep working on it though. Yeah you bet your ass it's a bad mamma jamma. I manhandled that 37 with this reel. Lol
I own two 6500ll one 4500ll and one 5500.. love these reels even over my 6500 clash.. but recently picked up a slammer 3 3500 for light tackle and one slammer 3 6500hs.. highly recommend that one when catching big fish like sharks.. excellent reels
@@FishWhistle. I actually sold it last year but was very reliable.. I have 3 slammer 3 also, the 4500,3500, and the 6500hs.. best reels for me now.. very strong and reliable
this great reel! You would also like to try others such as fast retrieve bg or azores.......low ratio?Socorro, spheros and cabo. If you want a beast you have the lethal100!
bro I have a question on this reel if you fishing regular pointing the rod at the water for the bottom drag to make it sensitive drag you turn the bottom knob left or right to make it the most sensitive thanks
Turning it to the right will tighten the drag. Make sure that line is tight and the drag is tight enough to where it isn’t freespooling. I usually have mine to where you can pull line the line out with your hand with minimal effort when I have it in the rod holder.
Hi there mate just bump in to your channel and Ive just purchased same reel as yours and got it straight from the box and ive noticed a significant handle play on the handle and also the live liner knob it also wobble if il try to move it back and forth, im pretty sure its not normal for a reel that new and the wobble from the handle that connects to the main gear? Do you have that certain issues? Your reply is much appreciated tho. I already contacted the shop that i bought it with but their closed on a weekend. Greetings from Australia 🇦🇺 cheers

Yes sir. It is the lever on the lower part of the reel that I was talking about. It’s has a whole separate drag system just for the live bait portion. I love it just for that fact. Hope this helps. Tight lines
No more Penn for me. Almost EVERY piece of kit i buy from them is a headache. Got Prevail 12" rod - chipped guide (the metal part). Another Prevail 9" - another chipped guide. Battle 2 6000 - bail flips on casts. Spinfisher 6500LL - uneven drag + LiveLiner locks every 2nd time i engage it. And it's all out of the box... The only reel i got from them that works fine (haven't opened it yet though) is Spinfisher 7500... Too much of a lottery for that much money...
RCT the only problem I have with penn is their rods. The last guide’s inner part always seems to fall off fairly quick for me,so now I just purchase the reels by themselves. In my experience the Penn reels really stand out. I haven’t had one problem yet out out any of my Penn reels. I mean I haven’t been nice to them either. So what brand you thinking about going to?
Thanks for the review. I've just purchased my first penn 4500 vi ll. I'm looking forward to catching some good fish with it.
You will love it for a long time
Have the same gen. as yours but is a 8500 ll. Great reels and great vid. dude
Man I love these. My battle 3s are still rolling too. I need to stop being lazy and make vids. So much great content right now
Have the exact same reel - strictly used in the surf no problems 6 years - lots of big jacks and sharks .
Yes sir. I have only had one fail on me. Threw a new gear in it and right back at it
Beautiful reels I love my 4500 v
I have been using my 4000 more than any rod lately. Such a versatile size.
Thanks for the info on the live liner!!! Just bought the Spinfisher v 8000

Hey what casting rods do you recommend for the 6500? fishing jettys/ surf?
did you ever find one lol
What pound leader you use with the 50 pound braid? I just picked this rig up. Im looking to use a floro leader. What pound floro you recommend?
What are you going to be fishing for? With this setup I’m usually using 50-100 lb floro.
Don't take the side plate off -- it's a pain in the ass to put back together
They definitely can be.
