Lake Day and Picking Up Trash at the State Park!

- We started going to our local state park after Pilgrim passed away. Hiking and swimming in the lake was the first thing that truly made us feel at peace, and so we've tried to go back as often as possible. Since we have been enjoying it so much, we wanted to help make it a little better by cleaning up trash caught in the jetty and left on the beach. We were surprised by HOW much trash there was - especially small rubbish like bottle caps, straw wrappers, cigarettes, and items so small it would be impossible to gather it all.

Hopefully, you didn't get too sunburned. Your cheeks/nose are looking redder than just slight exposure. Apply aloe Vera when you get home. Cool wet washcloth(s) applied to the "burn" site will help lower the skin temp......Hopefully, to prevent peeling.

Thank you both for caring.... Please be careful picking up trash .. fentanyl is everywhere these days .. we had a couple deaths related to this in my home town . Someone dropped some in a public restroom another picked up and died .. it can be on anything .. please please wear gloves and use something to pick things up ..love you both and wouldn’t want anything to happen to you ❤️❤️❤️❤️🙏🏻🙏🏻🥰

Really good video good therapy I have been suffering with depression so bad it's a blessing you have Alex to get out with you keep you going that's what I've got to do is motivate myself I have a park about 2 miles from me you have motivated me to go pick up trash at least I would be out doing something thanks again for sharing

Picking up trash is so good for the body, soul, spirit and earth. I have always been in the routine of cleaning up the mess left behind/blown in from others whether on the beach, on trails, at local park, or even parking lots. It just seems to make it easier to breathe, for me. Thank you for caring!!!
Thanks for posting , we are consumer wasters. It's unbelievable how much trash is littered. I watched a documentary on Plastics. In the beginning it was used for so many purposes . The plastic companies told everyone to not re-use. So people kept buying and trashing. I grew up in the 70's and 80's where you were still using paper bags, glass of water from the tap etc. When water bottles popped up in the 90's I thought this was a great invention. Where have you been all my life and bought into this nightmare. This past year , I bought a reverse osmosis system and reusable aluminum drinking bottles etc.. I wish I had done this sooner.

My gosh Kelly, I have never seen anyone else on RUclips so obviously earning their place in Heaven 🙏🏻 I love you guys so much! I do the same thing on the banks of the Atchafalaya Basin (you know that swamp underneath that mega long bridge on I-10 between Lafayette and Baton Rouge? That one). No one cleans up out there. I have filled an entire kitchen trashbag walking along a 20 yard area. And half of it is vintage lol. I’m careful to try to get as much plastic and styrofoam as I can, because those kill turtles who eat it thinking it’s food, and they never biodegrade. On the plus side, I have collected lots of super old cosmetic jars made of milk glass and extremely old soda bottles 🤣 Thank yall for being awesome!

I pick up trash whenever I can and you would not believe all of the people who say I'm nuts for touching other people's yucky trash! I do it because it needs to be done, I can do it and I am careful and wash my hands very well after I finish, even if I use gloves! I applaud you. Please stay safe and be careful! ❤❤

This annoys me so much, when me and my hubby go for a picnic, we take all our rubbish home. It's easy! I can't understand when you have somewhere so beautiful to relax, c'mon guys take your trash home. Your doing a great job, it's just a shame other people don't have the same outlook. Well done. 😚😚

This is so cool! I used to live in Austin, and love the Tx outback and waterways. I had a cool local friend who knew all about the geologic history. Born and raised by ancestors who grew up there, my friend took me to hilltops where there were rocks with fossilized shells, and told me about how it was all once under water in prehistoric times. Also, I am going to pretend I saw Alex check you out from behind, because I think that is kind of sweet (5:44)..

Bless you both for having such beautiful hearts! It makes me smile to know that younger people are taking our planet serious. A little bit goes a long way if we all help. I've taught my 5 yo great nephew the satisfaction of picking up trash around my apt complex and we've made a game of it and he actually likes to do it. I started with him as soon as he could walk and bend over without falling LOL

I loved this video!! I would love to see more of this kind of video from you, on top of the dumpster diving videos. My 4 year old and I watch your videos together and everyday he asks me “can we watch another dumpster diving video?” We pick up trash together everywhere we go so he especially loved this one. Awesome job you are doing to clean up the waterfront. It always boggles my mind that people still think it’s ok to litter. I live on a busy road and for some reason people think it’s ok to throw their trash out of their cars into my yard. I pick up trash in our local park too.

The trails look like a fun hike! I believe if you bring it in, you take it out; learned that when I first started hiking. I love how you guys are getting out in nature and enjoying life and you pick up trash while doing it. Be careful rubbing your feet along the lake unless you have water shoes on! You are my hero, Kelly. I wish I was as cool as you!
If you walk around and pick up trash about 4 times a week you will get in great shape. I started picking up trash walking around a 3 - mile jogging trail that goes around a city park and golf course. I started in 2016 and have totally transformed my body and improved my health. I use little 6" plastic party tongs and a long thin bamboo stick (to reach through the fences) My 'trash holder' has a shoulder strap. I get mostly food wrappers. Ricola yellow wrapper seem to be the most popular flavor - LOL. We are near a Jack in the Box and I find that trash everywhere - they just throw stuff out of their cars. I find that very disturbing. I do find a lot of the VAPE rigs/batteries. I heard they are made to be disposable but good grief. The wind blows the trash out of the trash cans inside the park. I have found money . . . just under $30. Watched people up ahead of me walking right past what looked like crumpled paper - it was a $5 and a $1. I return all ID's. Any license plates (3 so far) right back to DMV. I love doing it and get to meet so many people. Beautiful park and golf course.

So wonderful to see people that care and take initiative to make a difference. I live on the shores of a Great Lake and have a beautiful State Park. The trash we've picked up and continue to see is much more than you showed. It's sickening. Fewer and fewer people even try to be careful with their trash and taking care of it (or God forbid picking up something that wasn't theirs) is somehow beneath them & it's "somebody else's problem/responsibility". We have several reachers from the $1 store so we don't have to bend as much and can reach into the bushes. One time 3 of us picked up 2 jammed packed black garbage bags, 1 huge clear recycle bag filled with recyclables and a big pile of buckets/plastic/etc from 1 small area in less than 2 hours. The amount of smoking paraphernalia was overwhelming too (plastic tips, cig butts, lighters). Imagine if everyone would care & the difference that could be made? Our park has special receptacles for the fishing wire, lures, etc. Yours should too. They gather it and dispose of it so birds don't get it at the landfill. A big thank you to you both. 💛
Wow that trail is awesome! I wish we had a paved trail like that here in NC! I have mobility issues and would love the chance to be on a trail. You guys have a beautiful caring spirit and I love you both!

We have found 1 farmer here in Wisconsin where we live that grew it and they have since stopped. Its just so yummy. Maybe i should try to grow my own ? lol
We found the yellow watermelon at the farmer's market last weekend - it was our first time trying one and it was soo good! ☺️
I use to have a day care in my home and at least three times a week we would walk the neighborhood. I would give the kids Walmart bags and they would pickup trash as we walked. They enjoyed it and it was amazing how much they collected. Before they knew it we had walked a mile. Fun times.

Its always amazing to me when I watch videos of other countries, how clean everything looks. No garbage, no graffiti. Even when I leave the city, I can see a big difference. It doesn't have to be this way. Why is it so hard for people to just properly dispose of garbage?!

If you focus on where you are as a travel blog, and if you pick trash that's ok. You know most of what your picking up there has blown off tables, out of children's hands who don't know about wind or trash, and people try hard to keep trash and stow it but it looks like accidentally it happens. It's nice of you to enjoy picking it up, I'm sure the rangers will love that. There's so much to do in keeping a park cleaned up, and all the other stuff they do. I'm glad your getting excercise and getting out of the house.

Awe, so glad there was deer out and about when y’all were there, I had just discussed how rural 380 going east used to be, it’s nothing like it was even 3 years ago, much less 15! I don’t travel that way much anymore but every time I do there is something new. Hope y’all slathered on sunscreen, before and after swimming.
