Divinity Original Sin 1 was my first Divinity game as well as my first CRPG I ever played, but even now that I have played many more games like it, I still regard DOS1 as my favourite. I distinctly remember reading every single one of the graves in the Cyseal church just because I liked the witty writing so much. Cyseal is still one of my all time favourite zones in any RPG, and I can still hear the repeating dialogue from the market in my head to this day. "No man has as many friends as the man with many cheeses" are words to live by.
Ego Draconis, what a great game. I worked for the publishers QA at this time and testing this game was so much fun. And stressfull. We even needed to travel to Belgium for in-house testing which was a great experience
I love how so many people first played the Dragon Knight Saga and love it and would love either a sequel in the same genre of DKS where we see the end to the Damian storyline or a remake of the games. I love the game as well, its the one that introduced me to the Divinity series and I've wished for years for a sequel, it's my favority RPG of all time (very biased since its my childhood), along with DA:Origins, Dark Souls 1, Skyrim, Sacred, Kingdoms of Amalur and the first Metro games, there's surely some other I'm misremembering but you get the point. I've never really liked turn based RPGs but now that I've tried and loved Baldur's Gate 3, I'll probably give Original Sin 2 a chance.
Dragon commander was my first "Divinity" game. It is so different from Dos1/2 that i didnt even realize that the three games share the same universe until it was pointed out to me by a friend halfway through DOS2
I'm jumping into Divinity OS now and it's so much fun. A treasure to me, someone who couldn't wrap my head around it for years, and I'm so awe-struck by all the dialog and mechanics. Thanks!😊
Thanks for making this video! DOS2 may be my favorite game of all time and I just picked up DOS on steam on sale and I'm excited to dive into that one as well.
I played 4 of these games, I agree with all of what you said except divinity 2 ego draconis I would put it second in my list. It is the only game out of these that I finished multiple times.
#1 for me, I loved that game when it came out and nobody had ever heard of them as a company. I usually don't like turn based games, but I played DOS2 because I like Ego Draconis so much. DOS2 is great as well of course.
Recently finished a co-op playthrough of Original Sin 1with my girlfriend and we we're blown away by the system, story, combat, voice acting etc I've been trying to find a game with the same or similar combat system since. We started Original Sin 2 about 3-4 hours in and it has not been very stellar yet. It's odd to me how they shrank all the numbers and the ap system, needing to level Memory for more skill slots is some bs (maybe you get lots of attribute points later? We're only level 2 so far), and the UI is much messier like the small hotbar with 5 pages in the first game was incredible! I'm also hoping we get the Teleport Pyramids soon.
beyond divinity was such a drag to get through because i had just had a lot more fun than i was expecting while 100%ing divine divinity and then beyond divinity was a huge step back
Good luck with finishing it, you'll need multiple different saves kept at certain points in the game because of how buggy it can be and soft-lock progress.
Thank you for making this video! Divinity has been one of my favorite series for years now. I even named my first D&D character after Zandalor! I was very curious about Beyond Divinity and why it was considered inferior to the others, rushed development has been the death knell of many a promising title. You sir, are fast becoming one of my go-to gaming channels!
i played DOS2 like 5 years ago and over the last year or so have played all the other divinity games other than DOS1, definitely agree with your rankings
While I look forward to whatever project Larian decides to work on next and they have tactical cRPGs down to a science, my hope is they consider developing another game in the vein of Divinity 2 (the third person fantasy game), featuring all the progress they've made as a studio.
It breaks my heart to see Dragon Commander so low, I actually loved it, flawed as it was. But it's also perfectly understandable that it's not a game for everyone, far from it. I actually don't know who I would recommend it to xD So it stays my guilty pleasure.
My favorite is still the one where you can turn into a dragon at will, but I respect DOS2 as the better game even if it's also the most frustrating to me (those line of sights !). DOS1 was interesting mechanics-wise and I prefered it without the "armor negates any debuff" system of the 2nd, but it's one of the only RPG I struggled to finish because the story was so boring after the 1st act (and it's really long, doubly so because it's turn-based). I barely remember anything that happened, it's a good thing it had no bearing on the setting at all IIRC. so : 1/ dragon knight 2/ DOS 2 3/ Dragon commander (skipping the RTS part) 4/ DOS 1 not played : divine & beyond
Ego Draconis looks really good! I only have Original Sin 2 Definitive. Love it but haven't played it in a while and last time I tried I realized I need to start at the beginning to remember how to do it.
Divine Divinity is my favorite I think. It was my first RPG or one of the first - first I finished at least and I have a huge sentiment for it. Even now, after all these years, I still love it.
oh i really like dragon commander, had quite a lot of fun with, and i have to admit i really loved the dating sim part, it is a genre that i absolutely hate, but the characters in dragon commander are charismatic, i love them
I enjoyed the vn/management part of Dragon Commander a lot especially how each of the relationships had multiple endings. The rts portion was somewhat disappointing though.
Totally agree. The RTS part is really boring : rush with the units you bring or it's a slog - and turning into a dragon doesn't work with controlling your army. But on the plus side you can complete the game without ever setting foot (or wing I guess) on the RTS battlefield and just autoresolve every battle.
Ego Dragonis would have been awesome if it came just a bit later in the Larian timeline. Just imagine what they could've done if they've already had the Divinity: Original Sin behind them and slightly more comfortable position funding-wise. It played so much like Kingdoms of Amalur or something close to 2012-2013 ARPG and came out in 2009.
Awesome. Just a couple of days ago I was wondering about your thoughts on Ego Draconis. I remember playing it as a kid, never completed it but I liked it quite a bit. I'll just go and grab it on steam. :P
hey - happened to come across this after picking up the original sin games, trying them for a bit, and then putting them down for a while but now thinking about coming back to them after all the fun ive been having in bg3. Not sure if you'll ever see this comment, but I wanted to ask - do you have any advice (or videos of advice) for how to go about character creation and/or party composition in either game? i know D&D's system so its a lot easier for me to grok but i have no idea where to even begin for original sin 1 and 2.
Divinity 2 was the game that taught me that the way I was playing RPGs made them feel more like work than fun. I am compelled to "do" everything in a game, or else I feel I'm getting a fraudulent experience- or something.. I probably spent around 100 hours on fort joy alone while finding all the different ways to escape, and just got burnt out.. I think it's the combination of the "act" structure where I know I'll never be able to come back, and the open-ended nature of the game. I still haven't gone back, and I still struggle to not think of RPGs as work nowadays..
The series that made me found your channel! DOS 2 is still my favorite game to date, so much that I ear the OST almost every single day (by the way, It would be a cool idea to know which game soundtracks are your favorite). I hope that one day, Larian do a remake of Divine Divinity to suit modern day hardware. And of course i'm still hoping for Divinity: Fallen Heroes.
One thing that makes Divinity 2 DKS special is the ability to transform into dragon anywhere anytime, probably the only Rpg game that gives you the freedom to do so
As someone who only recently got into DoS, I would be interested in hearing how you would build "Lone Wolf" characters, if you haven't covered that yet.
man i wish fallen heroes werent cancelled, the fact it's expedition devs doing divinity tactics game is just amazing. i have a soft spot for eco draconis. objectively , DOS 2 is a much better and polished game, but eco draconis was really unique and bizzare
Beyond Divinity and Dragon Commander are the two entries I skipped. Beyond Divinity because it was panned by everyone, and Dragon Commander wasn't a CRPG. I would probably rate Divine Divinity lower than Original Sin even if Divine Divinity is a game many people missed when it first came out and it is definitely an often overlooked game, but I can't rate it higher than Original Sin. I really liked Divinity 2: Ego Draconis though mostly because I have been a big fan of the "euro-jank" genre.
Hey! So, I am playing BG3 and loving it. I haven’t played any of the Divinity or Pathfinder series. Do you think I should just get DOS 2 or is it worth my time to play some of the others?
Ego Draconis is a game they just don't make anymore. They took a ton of risks with that game, and a lot of them really didn't pay off, but the game is so unique and the concept is so cool that everyone who played it as a kid or whatever loves that game. It's very janky, and the combat is almost like an MMO to me, idk, but I have so much nostalgia for that game. Always remembered (spoilers) that when you become the dragon knight, you can suddenly jump like 5x higher than before. The starting area is really cool too. I still remember the layout of the starting zone to this day, lol. I got stuck there for so long as a kid.
Both Divine Divinity and Divinity 2 are embedded in my head, more nostalgic than pretty much any other games I played around those times. I think a big part of that is the music -- I can remember some piece from one of the games, and the experience all comes back.
Man, I remember playing Ego Draconis when it came out and really loving it, until I got my dragon power and the game broke and gave me like 9999 or so upgrade points (or whatever the system was). The game basically forced a cheat on me and that took all my interest to play it away. I even tried to use cheat software to get rid of the points, but they always came back, so eventually I dropped it and never went back :( Later when I played D:OS1+2 there where names and things that were weirdly familiar (especially Braccus Rex comes to mind), but initially I didn't really know why, until I realised the games were all from the same series. I had never played any other Divinity game other than Ego Draconis and though I had seen the name Divine Divinity before, I didn't really know those two games where connected either. I was mindblown when I found out and then felt kinda dumb XD
My first Divinity game was 2 didn't play very far but it was extremely fun. Dos 2 I had a blast with until my save got deleted getting back into it now a couple year's after that. I prefer Dos 2 over pathfinder for no other reason than pathfinder while very fun its system has a lot of crunch
This seems to be a hot take, though I can't understand why: DOS1 is much, much better than DOS2. It's crazy to me how everyone claims DOS2 improves on DOS1, when on average it's a downgrade. 1. Story/characters - This is usually sold as the biggest improvement. Don't get me wrong, it's an improvement, but only because the story in DOS1 is the most generic thing possible. It's literally like if someone told the writers of Fast&Furious movies to make a script of a fantasy RPG game. There are some quests/dialogues in DOS2 that are memorable Lohse/doctor story as a notable example. Still, most of it is still dumb and/or generic, at least compared to classic isometric RPGs it's trying to emulate. Pillars of eternity and especially Tyrany came out around the same time, and both blow DOS2 out of the water when it comes to writing. 2. Atmosphere/tone - A big downgrade from DOS1. DOS2 is all over the place, there is no tonal consistency in neither visual design or writing. One moment blood is splattering all over the screen as you are fighting religious fanatics that are also slavers and dr. Mengele enthusiasts, the next you are talking to a squirrel with a superiority complex riding a skeleton. It's like the writers/designers were constantly on mushrooms. Not only are the "darker" parts waaaay too edgy, the immersion is constantly being broken by goofy stuff so you can't even enjoy it as a dark fantasy shlock. Same dichotomy is seen in gameplay: both the mechanics and visual effects are very colourful and funny (MGS style sneaking is a great example), but the enemies are trying to be very dark and scary. DOS1 is dumb fun. Everything is bright, fun and never takes itself seriously. You fight a giant snow man in order to rescue a well from its life of loneliness. Fits perfectly with the dumb and generic main story. It's a lot like a fun tabletop D&D session with your friends where everyone is very high. 3. Combat - DOS1 has one of the best character building and combat systems in any classless RPG game ever. The only issues are numbers-related (attributes don't do much, a lot of useless traits, too easy to unlock high level spells etc.), it could be made essentially perfect through tweaks while keeping the core system intact. Instead, DOS2 ruins everything that was good, while not addressing any of the issues. The armor system is terrible (though there is potential), it makes any non-damage build useless. Alternating turns is something I'm convinced was added 2 days before game launched because I refuse to believe something this dumb passed through testing. Instead of high spells being overpowered, now low spells are overpowered, which is obviously worse because there is no cost to learning them on every single char. 90% of skills are unusable, while the other 10% are overpowered. Environment interaction is effectively gone due to necrofire. Overall, the game is too easy if played optimally (max damage glass cannon on everyone and targeting the next enemy to take a turn) and unplayable outside of easy/story difficulty if not played optimally. Overall, absolutely terrible, not changing anything from DOS1 combat would have made DOS2 a much better game. All in all, my ranking would be the same as if you switched DOS 1 and 2 in your ranking (i.e. DOS1, DD, DOS2, ego draconis, rest is garbage).
My only objection with the Original Sin series is that, as RPGs, griding should be a mechanic, even if it's purely optional. Onward to 200k. All glory to the algorithm.
Dragon Commander features many concepts that Divinity 2: Ego Draconis/Dragon Knight Saga was going to have but had to be cut. This includes uniting the races, creating a massive army etc although it was supposed to conclude after this with you as the dragon commanding your army to take on Damian at the end of the game.
I love your videos dude! DOS2 is easily one of my all time fave's. Being able to play thru the entire game with friends was an absolute dream. All games like this need coop.
The funniest thing about Dragon Commander is that the rts portion is completely optional I've beaten the game without even mastering the rts and dragon combat Divinity: Risk more like
Yeah its been a while but its also possible to very quickly spam one of the start units to the point of them being able to win in just a couple of minutes because they can be produced so quickly and cheaply that you overwhelm the enemy right as the round starts.
as for mentioning divinity 2 story and them possibly continuing it, I doubt it. Larian has been on record of saying before DOS 1 they didn't have actual story people keeping consistent story of everything. This leads to every game from divine divinity to original sin 1, breaking the lore in some way that makes 0 sense. Divinity OS 1 they finally brought someone in to restructure the lore and keep it pretty well contained. Then DOS2 they had someone else do it, possibly a team, and lead to a much stronger story telling with little breaks in the story. However there were still some hiccups that are found between DOS1 and DOS2 they've mainly focused on these being the true stories. Now I can't remember if it was the same interview or somewhere else where they say this, so take this with a grain of salt, but larian also said everything before dos 1, is essentially like stories told theought time and passed on. None of its 100% canon anymore and rather myths that are possible to be baked in truth. So I'm not sure they'll ever continue divinity 2 story, but they might "remake" the story in new DOS 1&2 style.
I really hope that some day Larian creates Divinity game in FPP - they already made most (sub)genres and perspectives except this one... Beyond had way too many resistances and higher difficulties were not balanced at all. DivDiv had difficulty spikes, while BD on hardest was one big spike. TBH I prefer Original Sin 1 classic version - no voice acting and balanced thrown off the window, with Lone Wolf+Glass Cannon being the highlight
Never played Beyond Divinity so I can't objectively rank it. Otherwise, I'd rank em': 1. Original Sin 1 2. Ego Draconis 3. Divine Divinity 4. Original Sin 2 5. Dragon Commander Enjoyed all of them tbh
@@MortismalGaming While I am aware a 'canon' playthrough of the games would be a massive time commitement, plus enduring Beyond Divinity, I think it could help highlight this series for those who are intrigued by the lore but haven't seen exactly what the games offer.
I really wish I had liked Divinity OS2 more, it was the only Divinity game I played so I don't know if the others were like this, but the skill system, where I have to buy books instead of gaining new abilities by leveling up certain skills, was kind of frustrating to me.
I really enjoyed Dragon Commander although I think it could have benefited a lot from having an Early-Access period. I found the RTS combat to be way too unbalanced even on easier difficulties. I ended up cheesing the game by only attacking enemies capital as that took down the whole faction. Divine Divinity does sound interesting although I don't know if it's better to play it or just watch a story playthrough.
I have only played Divinity Original Sin 1 (i have Divinity 2+DLCs and DOS2), so take my comments with a grain of salt. I wont specifically talk about the game i played nor compare it to other RPGs (WRPGs or JRPGs), since i believe its flaws (or quirks) were fixable and they would detract from the conversation. As far as i understand, Divinity games are in the same timeline, but removed from one another by multitudes of years. My initial thoughts were that perhaps its better if more games are located in a small period. That way the Divinity games will have stronger political worldbuilding (nations), they havent really explored that. However after checking a bit with the timeline, Larian can also put several Divinity games in the timeline (some examples -8800 BD to -1 BD any major incident, 100 AD Dwarves vs Demons, 600 AD Chaos+Legion of Damned, 1300 AD Order of Dragon Slayers). Perhaps its better if they stick to that formula, since it is what they do best.
Come on Beyond is not that terrible >.< It a step down from the first for sure, and a masterclass in frustration at times, but calling it "truly a terrible game" seems a bit harsh. It still has it's moments. Replayed it not that long ago and yeah, that first dungeon is... a thing, and it's very linear compared to the first game, but still I had a good time, frustrating and sometimes rage inducing time as well for sure, but still I like it.
@@MortismalGaming Hehe fair enough. Yeah I like the lore as well, I think that's why I give it a pass, I always get so caught up in Lore I tend to excuse a lot of jank in games.
I guess my big question is why do you prefer Pathfinder over OS2? You have always why you like both but like what puts WotR over the edge? I really want to get into it but man I hate the real time with pause. I have big hopes for BG3 to be true DnD but turn based.
I loved both OS 1 & 2 , but didn't finish either of them, and I put some serious time in the first one. Not sure why. I want to support the company so will probably buy Baldur's Gate even though I'm not so interested.
I am in the minority I know, but I like OS1 way more than OS2. OS2 is by no means a bad game, but I find the switch to the whole magic/physical armor system a bad idea. Every encounter basically devolves into a dps rush to be the first one to place CCs, which then trivializes it. I mean it is challenging, especially on higher difficulties, but I liked more the approach that OS1 had to its challenge, and also the fact that, with a little bit of luck and a lot of points spent into saving throws you could resist that clutch CC that got you the win. Just my opinion :)
Beyond divinity is the game that made me start the serie... I really liked it and I will always remember that moment when you need to tickle a spider and the black knight is offended and yells "BLACK KNIGHT DO NOT TICKLE !!!". No, really, I loved that game ! lol... But I was disappointed with the "create your own spells" thingy, it was very clunky and the result of your tinkering was never anything to be proud of. Dragon Commander is a game I had high hopes for mainly because I'm a RTS fan and the game turned out half baked ! I ended up doing mostly auto-battles though I liked controlling the dragon. The units, no matter what side you chose to ally with were always the same and disappointing. BUT and there's a BUT, the story was just amazing ! I really loved the story and all intricacy with all races, how you could marry and how it could change things. So of course, at first, I chose the beautiful elven wife ! But after a while, I received a newspaper with a story on the first page telling about the orgy my wife had... I wasn't too happy about that so I killed her ! After that, I chose the lizard wife... And gosh she was annoying and cold... So I killed her too ! Then I had to chose another wife... I decided to go with the undead one because she seemed to be less annoying and as a skelleton she wouldn't cheat one me at least... And gosh, what a surprise when she turned into a real woman, pretty beautiful and faithful... I kept her ! So, maybe dragon commander wasn't a great RTS, but it was a pretty fun dating sim !!! Also, I really loved the soundtrack of the game, they made a great job there. The other games, well, never tried the first divinity, but ego draconis was okay, everybody loved it but it was so limited... I could never really get into it especially when much better games were out there like the elder scrolls. Original sin 1 and 2 were amazing of course but I have to say I had a lot more fun with the first game, played it entirely in co-op (that has to do something about why I find it more fun) and we developped some sort of love for explosive barrels, using stealth to place them around a boss we couldn't beat and killing him in one shot making the barrels explode... It took quite some time to do but we laughed so much with killing mobs that way and creating chaos in towns, stealing and whatnot once the npc didn't have anymore quest and rewards. I don't think I ever laughed that much in a RPG and I totally loved it, the freedom and the stuff you could do were definitly the base of amazing games to come.
Ego Draconis was really amazing. One of the most underrated games of all time.

I'm jumping into Divinity OS now and it's so much fun. A treasure to me, someone who couldn't wrap my head around it for years, and I'm so awe-struck by all the dialog and mechanics. Thanks!😊
I remember playing Divine Divinity after playing Diablo and Baluders Gate and feeling like it was a really well made combination of the two.
EXACTLY those are my thoughts. It's an action rpg diablo style but with the baldurs gate depth.
Oh man Ego Draconis was one of the first RPGs I played. It blew my mind back in the 2000s. It made me fall in love with the genre.
Oblivion and divinity 2 where the best rpg's back then
i'm glad i found a channel who review the games i most like! i'm really glad :)
Larian Studios should definitely do a remaster of their older games
Thanks for making this video! DOS2 may be my favorite game of all time and I just picked up DOS on steam on sale and I'm excited to dive into that one as well.
Straight up awesome consistent content
I played 4 of these games,
I agree with all of what you said except divinity 2 ego draconis
I would put it second in my list.
It is the only game out of these that I finished multiple times.
#1 for me, I loved that game when it came out and nobody had ever heard of them as a company. I usually don't like turn based games, but I played DOS2 because I like Ego Draconis so much. DOS2 is great as well of course.
Divine divinity was just way to incredible for those times
"No one has as many friends as the man with many cheeses!" - Cyseal cheese vendor
As soon as I finish 100% bg3 I jump into this!
I recently 100% Wasteland 3 which is the first cRPG/TRPG that I enjoyed playing and did finish. Now I need to get into the Divinity series.
beyond divinity was such a drag to get through because i had just had a lot more fun than i was expecting while 100%ing divine divinity and then beyond divinity was a huge step back
I couldn't believe it after having played Divine Divinity myself, just a wild step backwards.
@@MortismalGaming luckily after that i really genuinely enjoy everything else larian has done, including dragon commander lol.
Great video. Love your style
Now that's fucking quality content man, the best YT rn fr fr
Ego Draconis is such an awesome title. Shame the budget wasn’t a little higher
The music in divine divinity is so good, definitely plan on finishing it .
Good luck with finishing it, you'll need multiple different saves kept at certain points in the game because of how buggy it can be and soft-lock progress.
@@Valkod23 I was going to finish it with a video guide but yes multiple saves is a very good idea!
I hope so too but this time with a way bigger skill system
It breaks my heart to see Dragon Commander so low, I actually loved it, flawed as it was. But it's also perfectly understandable that it's not a game for everyone, far from it. I actually don't know who I would recommend it to xD So it stays my guilty pleasure.
Divine divinity was surprisingly really really good, glad I gave it a try
My favorite is still the one where you can turn into a dragon at will, but I respect DOS2 as the better game even if it's also the most frustrating to me (those line of sights !).
DOS1 was interesting mechanics-wise and I prefered it without the "armor negates any debuff" system of the 2nd, but it's one of the only RPG I struggled to finish because the story was so boring after the 1st act (and it's really long, doubly so because it's turn-based). I barely remember anything that happened, it's a good thing it had no bearing on the setting at all IIRC.
so :
1/ dragon knight
2/ DOS 2
3/ Dragon commander (skipping the RTS part)
4/ DOS 1
not played : divine & beyond
I think the most egregious sin of Beyond Divinity was making Damian sound like a New York mobster. Bizarre creative choice from Larian on that one
Ego Draconis looks really good! I only have Original Sin 2 Definitive. Love it but haven't played it in a while and last time I tried I realized I need to start at the beginning to remember how to do it.
Dragon Commander was so much fun! I still occasionally go back.
Good to hear, I just picked it up on Steam.
@@Jeffmetal42 Hope ya enjoy it as much as i did!
Divine Divinity is my favorite I think. It was my first RPG or one of the first - first I finished at least and I have a huge sentiment for it. Even now, after all these years, I still love it.
oh i really like dragon commander, had quite a lot of fun with, and i have to admit i really loved the dating sim part, it is a genre that i absolutely hate, but the characters in dragon commander are charismatic, i love them
I'd switch Ego Draconis with Divine Divinity, but otherwise, I agree!
My first divinity game was dragon commander, really liked it at the time
Yeah its not bad by any means just strange next to the rest of the series
Original Sin 2 is in my playlist. It looks like a really great game!
Wow i wish we would get a divinity 3! div 2 is my absolute favorite game
Seriously 😒 that's what I'm waiting on
Awesome. Just a couple of days ago I was wondering about your thoughts on Ego Draconis. I remember playing it as a kid, never completed it but I liked it quite a bit. I'll just go and grab it on steam. :P
I do love this series, finally picked up Dragon Commander so next rather than jumping around like I have I plan to play them all in timeline order.
hey - happened to come across this after picking up the original sin games, trying them for a bit, and then putting them down for a while but now thinking about coming back to them after all the fun ive been having in bg3. Not sure if you'll ever see this comment, but I wanted to ask - do you have any advice (or videos of advice) for how to go about character creation and/or party composition in either game? i know D&D's system so its a lot easier for me to grok but i have no idea where to even begin for original sin 1 and 2.
I played Dragon Commander, I think I liked it!
Divine divinity was such a godlike game that it changed my life. It was so off the charts for a open world rpg with tons of options for those times.
Fextralife has a great vid on that. Lone wolf is a fun and powerful way to play.😊
I'd put Ego Draconis on second place, it was very good.
Whoa whoa whoa, there's more than two Divinity games?! This is like back in 2012 when I found out there's more Elder Scrolls games than just Skyrim.
man i wish fallen heroes werent cancelled, the fact it's expedition devs doing divinity tactics game is just amazing.
i have a soft spot for eco draconis. objectively , DOS 2 is a much better and polished game, but eco draconis was really unique and bizzare
DOS2 will feel the most familiar coming from BG3, the rest are a bit different
Are they worth playing this many years later?
I even tried to use cheat software to get rid of the points, but they always came back, so eventually I dropped it and never went back :(
Later when I played D:OS1+2 there where names and things that were weirdly familiar (especially Braccus Rex comes to mind), but initially I didn't really know why, until I realised the games were all from the same series.
Had a blast w dragon Commander.
Good show sir
I love your videos dude!
DOS2 is easily one of my all time fave's.
Being able to play thru the entire game with friends was an absolute dream.
All games like this need coop.
I think i actually found your channel, looking for content about 'ego draconus, which is the most underated game of all time
Dunno if it's the algorithm but literally every video is yours when I search "divinity lore"
*instantly begins to search your lore*
I doubt this would happen but I’d like to see the older ones updated and rereleased someday
The funniest thing about Dragon Commander is that the rts portion is completely optional
I've beaten the game without even mastering the rts and dragon combat
Divinity: Risk more like
Yeah its been a while but its also possible to very quickly spam one of the start units to the point of them being able to win in just a couple of minutes because they can be produced so quickly and cheaply that you overwhelm the enemy right as the round starts.
I would switch Divine Divinity and DOS1 in my list
as for mentioning divinity 2 story and them possibly continuing it, I doubt it.
Otherwise, I'd rank em':
1. Original Sin 1
2. Ego Draconis
3. Divine Divinity
4. Original Sin 2
5. Dragon Commander
Enjoyed all of them tbh
Starting with Divinity 2… on my Xbox 360, that poor old bastard. But he’s a trooper, ya know.
I'll be the first to admit dragon commander faults, but I love how weird it is. Is by far my favorite "6 out of 10 score" game of all time
Its a bizzare charming game to be sure
Divinity 2: The Dragon Knight Saga was a pleasure to play but still inferior to Original Sin.
Really wish there was a DOS 3 announcement
Ever consider doing a chronological playthrough for the Divinity timeline for all of the games?
I made a video explaining the entire timeline a long time ago if thats what you mean
DD is a special game, atmosphere there is incredible and it's just fun to play. Last act is a bit boring though.
What game do you think is "better", Lionheart or Beyond Divinity?
I never played them, but there is not many old CRPG left for me to play.
Lionheart but just barely. First half is great and the last half is a terrible dungeon crawl as opposed to BD just being all bad.
@@MortismalGaming Thank you for the replay!
No that game is terrible. I enjoy the lore of it and thats about it.
@@MortismalGaming Hehe fair enough. Yeah I like the lore as well, I think that's why I give it a pass, I always get so caught up in Lore I tend to excuse a lot of jank in games.
Any game with talking crabs just captures my heart.
...Empyrio AWAY!
I'm happy that my favorite Divine Divinity is hight tear XD still playing in 2023 with hopefully Larian studio will remake this good old game someday.
Do you recommend to play this serie in chronological order or release order?
I'd pick whichever ones look the most interesting. They are all pretty disconnected.
I guess my big question is why do you prefer Pathfinder over OS2? You have always why you like both but like what puts WotR over the edge? I really want to get into it but man I hate the real time with pause. I have big hopes for BG3 to be true DnD but turn based.
I enjoy a deep set of rules and the customization that goes with it, whereas DOS2 is a pretty simple system in comparison.
Wrath of the Righteous is either real time with pause or turn based, I play it 75% turn based...
Just my opinion :)
is it fine to start this series with D:OS 2? or would you be completely lost?
I would say most people have only ever played DOS2, so it'll be fine
Wait. There are books on the divinity lore?
Yeah, Prophecy & Child of Chaos
I loved the UI design, the aesthetics and graphics design of Dragon Commander! Too bad it was horrible to play ... :D
Divinity 2: Ego Draconis is one of few games I actually finished.
Dragon Commander is my favorite Divinity game.
