Bronny is 19 stop treating him like hes fking 12. in 90% of the world right now and during 99,9% of human history he would be considered an adult. Hes also worth more money than most of us will make during multiple lifetimes and can do literaly anything he choses to. And out of all his options he chose to take roster spot and potentialy lifechanging opportunity away from someone who deserved it more.

    • @thetrib1
      @thetrib1 5 месяцев назад

Adults that delete themselves do it with a fraction of the intensity this kid gets. It isn't that he's getting babied. He's getting criticized for things he didn't do. He's getting "worst player ever" after every mossed shot. The discourse around him is extremely toxic. Not even lebron at this age was getting this much toxicity thrown at him.
So no, bronny's not getting babied. It's just a bunch of grown folks trying to demean a 19 year old for...getting drafted to the NBA? How does that make sense.
And btw...dummies like you don't realize that the "opportunity" talking point doesn't work for basketball. There's soooo many avenues you can go. Even more than soccer or baseball. That special kid that weirdo's like you all of a sudden care about actually will get another opportunity as long as he's young and talented.

I really dont get why people argue that LeBron hard forced LAL front office to draft Bronny, and that he f-ed them up or something like that. I'm pretty sure the LAL, as a business, would have pick Bronny even if LeBron didn't ask for it.
You'll (generally) not get a NBA player at 55 in the draft (even tho "you never know" as Rudy said, but that's wishful thinking, we have stats to back this up), so taking the non-NBA player rookie that will, at least, up your tickets/jerseys sales and make your best player stay with the team is a clear win. If Bronny, one day, become a decent role-player it's even better, obviously, but it's not needed for it to still be a good decision for the organisation as a whole.

So lemme get this straight, LeBron did all of the following but we're the ones in the wrong for calling HIM out?
    1) Name your son the same name as yourself.
    2) Tweet about how your Jr. is better than a lot of the players on the NBA and that he could play for the Lakers "right now".
    3) Get mad at people for calling out his subpar game when he falls below his father's oversold expectations.
    4) Have your podcast co-host with no NBA coaching experience (not even as an assistant) as the new Head Coach of the Lakers.
    5) Have your oversold but underperforming Jr. drafted into the NBA, specifically into your team, regardless.
    - People keep forgetting this! -
5.5) ENSURE THAT YOUR 55TH PICK SON GETS A 4-YEAR GUARANTEED CONTRACT DESPITE HIS TERRIBLE HS/COLLEGE STATS. This is NOT normal for a 55th pick, let alone a bum-stat-ed player.
    - People keep forgetting this! -
    6) Glaze your Jr. via interviews with media specifically designed to "soften the blow" on just how obviously orchestrated this entire situation was.
    7) Your Jr. then proceeds to prove that he was indeed "gifted the position", never earned it, despite your claims.
    8) Your Jr. gets ripped apart by the media and content creators, all thanks to YOU, his father.
LeBron made this situation, now we're "bad people" for not "letting the kid be a kid" and not "letting his game speak for itself".
His game has been shouting "overpromised and underdelivering" for a very long time now.

    1. When Bronny was convinced he was going to be a basketball player, he was probably much younger than he is now. This is what he has been working towards for probably a decade at least at this point, you don't just go "guess I'm not gonna go to the NBA" now.
    2. Yes it's nepotism, the Lakers instead of choosing some kid with a 6% chance of being a rotation player in the NBA, chose to keep LeBron happy and he chose to0 play with his Son in the NBA. I just can't get myself to find get actually mad at anyone. They still have 3 tradeable firsts and I would love for them to get a player like Poetl as a backup big. With that rotation, I think they can make some noise

I think this topic is basically beating a dead horse. Nepotism is prominent in a lot of sports leagues/businesses and the NBA is no different. Jerry Jones son Stephen is an executive of the Cowboys lol and nobody bats an eye to this degree. It's also LeBron James so he garners hate no matter what he does.

Honestly I'm basically apathetic towards the whole Bronny James thing, would I prefer he shot better, yes. But he's an okay rebounder and a good defender (at his size). We really should focus on what other things the Lakers will do to improve the roster with trades and signings.

I'm not sure the guy who lost his second round slot to Bronny was all that hurt other than missing out on hearing his name. It presumably means he got picked up as an undrafted free agent and got the same two-way contract he would have had anyway, except now he gets a bit more freedom to choose which team he wants to go to.

LBJ as a player is an all-timer, but his record as a GM has been horrid. Burning a 2nd round pick to assuage his ego isn't the biggest mistake in the world, but it's shameful to see the Lakers, arguably the premiere NBA team in the world, stooping this low. The Lakers need to get lucky in the draft and/or FA to have an actual shot at the title this year. Yes, they weren't particularly likely to find that player no matter who they took, but it's maddening to see a franchise that needs every little chance they can get throw it away so LBJ can manufactor some resume talking point that no fan gives a shit about.

admittedly im a bronsexual so know that's where this is coming from: But i wouldn't even say "i feel bad for him" i dont want to show him any pity or any emotion besides hope and support until he hangs it up. If i was 19 again and ppl were saying they felt so bad for me because I was in a bit of a nepotistic situation, i'd just feel embarrassed and shameful for my family.
All I can say is man go play and dont listen or look at social media. Go play as well as u can and see what happens, either way the opinions of polarized fans dont matter, once lebron is out of the league only a small amt of Jordan fans who make weird GOAT arguments will bring up his son's nba career.

I personally put zero stock in Summer League performances. Shit really doesn't matter except for the top level prospects who even if they stink it up the whole competition you want to be able to walk away from SL being able to at least see evidence of the talent that got them drafted so high even if it doesn't translate to stats.

I feel pretty on the fence about him getting a roster spot. If teams want players, they’ll sign them as UDFA or buy a 2RP etc. Also many teams end up just rostering only 14 players instead of 15. So I don’t think he stole an opportunity from someone really, but it’s still nepotism of course. No argument.
Also more players are getting longer 2RP deals bc of the new 2nd round pick exception. It’s actually bad for players a lot of times. If they’re good being on a min 2RP deal for like 3-4y is far from ideal. Especially with how much $ can be made overseas and in NIL. There are some cases it’s good and they make a little extra $, but overall it’s outweighed by the guys who end up as solid role players and get crazy underpaid for longer bc of it.
How do you feel about 2nd round picks getting forfeited as punishment? There were only 58 picks in this draft, p sure last draft too. Does that take opportunities away?
These are genuine questions, I find it interesting. You simply won’t find me saying bad things personally about LeBron or Bronny or really any athlete or celebrity I don’t know with VERYYYYY limited exception. Karl Malone ya kno lol. But ya I just don’t feel strongly one way or the other. I don’t think it’s some huge deal. It’s frankly quite annoying to hear about all the time and how gross the discourse is, but that’s social media and I mostly avoid topics like this.
LAL obv is a joke, Pelinka is bad at his job, it’s run like a mom and pop shop. Funny video situation, hilarious Nick appearance. Long time fan of your content, keep it up!

I think the argument of being the 55th pick has more merit than you believe. Historically the 55th pick hasnt played in the league for any amount of time. This is nepotism yes, but people out there are acting like they used a lottery pick on him when at the end of the day hes a second round pick and lebrons son.

I think everyone understands that Bronny does not make his own decisions. But it doesn't matter. LBJ after so many years of dealing with criticism and haters is very resilient. On the other hand, if you go after someone not so hard skinned, who whe probably cares about more than himself... Now that can be really tough to deal with for him. Just like in the movies when protagenists always get super vulnerable when their loved ones get kidnapped. So if you want to put cracks in LBJ's legacy, you put as much pressure on the kid.

I honestly disagree about the whole bronny getting lebron and rich in his ear because at the end of the day Lebron doesn't seem like the kind of dad who would force his kid to do a certain thing if they didn't want to do it. Bronny is here because he wanted it.

Bronny should have stayed atleast 1 more year in college and build a name for himself. For what I remembered, he does not have a good stats in his first year of college so staying for development may have been a better move. At least that way his way to the NBA won't be as forced as this one. Criticisms will always be there but if he had a better year 2 in college, it may not be as harsh, but the narrative is Lebron wants to play with his kid before retiring so everything felt forced. I don't blame Bronny on this fiasco but he's still in the middle of it all.
