Ugh. One event doesn’t make it a negative place. Obviously, as you’re reporting many people have great memories and feel positive about the place, in spite of the 2004 tragedy.
@@nasticanasta yeah. I only went there once afterwards. It wasn’t the same. I hope the bands who played there continue to have a platform here in Cbus.
Ok I'm not trying to be mean... but news people get your facts straight. We were not closed for a few years. Last show was last March. Covid shut it down.. We had a bunch of sold out shows falling after that. That couldn't happen as the industry shut down....And sweet guy in the interview the rock will have a good home. As will the other special things. I have the dressing room mirror in my living room now about to be mounted tomorrow. All the mirrors in the dressing room are safe. ❤ I'm glad it means so much to everyone as it does to me . ❤. Much love
There were some great local and national bands that played there. Lotta fond memories of seeing Warrant. LA Guns. Jason Bonham Band, and many others. Truth be told, it started going downhill yrs before the Damageplan tragedy. They rented it out on the weekends for crappy rap and dance parties as Studio 69 I think it was. Thats about when it started waning. Just like the rest of the north side. Maybe besides bulldozing it, they should level the whole Morse Rd and 161 corridor and make it a giant park and ride for COTA
I just remember the reverend rick yelling “ALLLLLLRIGHT BITCHES! COMING SOON THE ONLY TWO BANDS WE EVER HAVE FLICKERSTICK AND CRINGE WITH SPECIAL GUEST MONKEYNUT” 🤣
I saw Toots and the Maytals play there. Magical. Of course leave it to Columbus city officials to level everything of any historical value, meaning, or function and replace it with a parking lot.
This breaks my heart to see it go😞as so many years ( menace 2 sobriety) played the venue..how do i know? Im mikey Myers a member of menace 2 sobriety ..to the fans and musicians we Are losing a great place🤘🙂🤘
Grew up within 5 minutes of this place. Like alot of others alot of good memories of just not music and a place to hang out. Majority of this area is light business/industry and putting low income housing here I have a feeling with not go over well here . Really hope someone steps up and can save alot of signs and other items before this is leveled.
This Ohio small town rock -a- holic played his first "Columbus Gig" at the Alrosa Villa back in 1988!!! I spent a short 5 years in Columbus playing in a band and spent a fair amount of weekends at the Alrosa before moving away - such a shame to see it go. It was truly a great rock & roll venue. RIP Dime and RIP Alrosa Villa.
I’m born and raised here in Ohio and I’ve been to many concerts there. I only live about an hour from Al Rosa villa and It was a cool place to see shows. Still can’t believe what happened to dimebag. It would be so cool if that rock would find a home near by so that fans can honor him around here or it would be cool if it would be taken to his grave in Texas. R.I.P. Dimebag 🙏🏼✌🏼🤘🏼
We need to make the mayor Nd city coucil and zack klien responsible for dumping drug addicts and violently mentally ill into affordable housing. Disabled people have no safe housing now. Zach klien hates the disalbed and the non drug addicted.
@@nasticanasta Thanks...I had already googled it...I just wish a story about affordable housing, a hot topic for me, would have talked about the new development instead of just sensationalizing the past of the club for clickbait...

It still was the ruin of AV, I played there many times, saw many great shows, but that murder was the downfall of this great venue

Many great memories at the Villa. Lots of music, and some really good times.
"Affordable housing"? Well, there goes the neighborhood.
There should be a statue of Dime there
Finally! Dime thumbs up from Heaven!

Yeah, Section 8 housing is 'so positive for the community'.

It was torn down for low income housing? Nice. Turn the area into a slum, way to go!

Affordable housing for the hoodlums. Excellent!!!
I mean I live government housing but I'm in Youngstown. I think tearing it down was a shitty idea honestly
The shootouts will come back
Saw Jake E. Lee’s band there.
positive community? Other than that incident, it was great. Now you think section 8 is better. Columbus has become so damn liberal
I hope the new apartments built will help the community.
If drugs is help, then yes.. It'll help.
What does your gut tell you? 🤣
More section 8 housing wont help that community. It will finish it off.
Taking a bad area and making it worse. Can we put the low income housing at the bottom of Lake Erie, please?
