Definitely on the boat. You’ve guide me twice on the Susquahanna and I learned stuff each time as I do from your tutorial vids. Thanks

The guys at TT did a very in depth testing on mono vs fluorocarbon. The stretch of some of the most popular line selections went h2h and the results were surprising. The MAIN benefit of fluorocarbon is it's abrasion resistance. The stretch and how invisible each were was very similar. Interesting read if you're interested. Lol

Finally somebody says that the FG Knot is overrated. Nothing wrong with a basic Uni to uni knot.

It's way overrated lol. I used the Alberto and it's just as small and strong

Your right about the line. I'm ready to junk my Pline leader. Keep breaking them off. But. .I see your still have fun!

I think you are a great fisherman. But I must point out, the point of using high #braid isn't because we need to. It's because it's easily the most manageable line you can get IMO. If you work on your knots you will get to the point where your breaking line but not knots. I never use the trilene knot or the Palomar because both in my opinion are not all that great. I use a double pitzen for FC and the fish n fool for braid because those knots are extremely easy. The Alberto knot is good but the FG and my personal knot which is a gt/j hybrid are the ones I use the most. I think the Japanese have it right with the whole slip vs knot with fluoro. Fluoro is so hard that if you pull tight enough on that hookset you can shear the line. The double pitzen is a slip type knot that I've never broken. I'm also in the category of only using a knot once I've tied it in practice and tested it about 50 to 100 times. I take my fishing very seriously it's more than just a hobby to me. for the double pitzen Shaw Grigsby shows it pretty good I'll be uploading mine soon as well. Also if your experiencing knot breaks it kind of sounds to me like you've burnt the line up which is a thing. I loved berkley vanish and up until about the last 10 yards has served me pretty well. But this last spool you can plainly see the line took too much pressure when they spooled it which is another reason why I don't think the whole level wind does anything other than create another possible unavoidable failure. I like knowing that if something failed it was because I did something wrong, not because the company did.

sometimes bending those little hooks out a little bit can keep the fish on - just a tip.

    Damn, son....you are LEGEND!
I wonder if your palomar problem is from pulling the main line to tighten? I see a lot of people do that instead of only pulling the tag to tighten.

RiverBottomOutdoors maybe. i’ve had it fail to many time to try it again. trilene knot suits me well.

@@jraymond115 Palomar knot burns when it's cinched. The trilene knot is good. Look up the shark knot. It's doubled at every point of contact. Never had a problem with it
