Massive respect to Vincent for crying on camera and to Jon for being supportive by letting him get that out of his system. I love seeing traditionally “manly” guys openly express raw emotions, because I feel like there’s this misconception that traditional masculinity is always toxic. Not that there’s anything wrong with embracing your feminine side as a guy, but that shouldn’t be the ONLY way to be a man without being a dick. As a guy I find it really comforting to see guys like Jon Bernthal and Vincent Vargas who normalize traditional masculinity and basic human empathy in equal measure.
I was a full blown drugie before joining the Army. I decided that if for whatever reason I couldn’t get in that I would just end it. I was just like this guy, I was tired of being a disappointment and accepted that death would be a better option then continue to cause problems. Lol My plan was to walk into the woods and do it there bc I didn’t want to ruin the place I was staying at. Aka Even in death I would be a pain to my friends and family if I ended it at a house. Luckily for me I did join and totally turned my life around. It was the 1st time in a long time that I was actually proud of what I was doing. I know it’s crazy to say but I’m grateful for those moments, it made me who I am today.
