I love that it’s mercedes mums first wedding and it’s her 7th wedding 😂😂❤️
That is what makes Myra, as a character, interesting. She is a devoted catholic who have had 7 children with 7 different men, but never been married - and when she finally takes the plunge, it is with a transgender who also is the father of one of her children. The contrasts in her character probably makes her one of a kind. But at the same time those contrasts says so much about both society and the catholic church, individuals need for both a belief and the freedom to be themselves - and for their kids to have the same freedom - it justifies the character being made as seemingly not very authentic as she has been drawn to be. Cause what Myra is open about being, many other people of faith are in secret. An unmarried woman and mother of 7 to be a catholic is perhaps not just unusual, but could be unique. But for a married man or woman of the catholic faith to also have children out of wedlock, is far from rare. Still, since it is regarded a shame, is not talked about - instead those children often go through their entire lives not knowing who their biological parent or parents are. But Myra, not being married, but still being a devoted catholic has never had the luxury of choosing what people should think about her. She has had to live with a scarlet letter attached to her, since she was a teenager.
Hollyoaks being so fond of flashback storylines and episodes, maybe should do something involving Myra before she became pregnant with her first child? Who she was back then, and what she hoped for the future. Was it meeting the now Sally, and he leaving her unwed with a child, that sealed Myra`s faith and future? Had she met someone who was not transgender - and who had married her - would she have been with that man still, and been seen as a respectable catholic woman, wife and mother? Was it the brand of being a single mother that lead to the other men she met were as they were? Would she had a different life if she hadn`t been both an unmarried mother and a devoted catholic at the same time?

@@danielblair9535 He didn`t really. Because of what Sylver did, Liam has a hold over Mercedes, and is free to extort her as much as he wants. And it seems to be his favorite passtime.

It already is...tell me...are British people in general obsessed by weddings? It seems a little backward. The Mcqueen´s are stupid yes, but this is too much, it´s not even fun. Please Hollyoaks, make people more real.

@@rachelb1502 Just curious, how is the time in the UK now? Are you only allowed to go out one hour a day or how is life?
@@ann-christinenilsson4046 We're allowed out for essentials, work and 1 form of exercise a day (they recommend and hour but haven't put into force). Its not too bad, a few more cops out to make sure people are social distancing etc I'm in Bristol though where rates seem to be fairly low, I think maybe London and Birmingham are more strict. How about you? Where are you?
@@rachelb1502 I come from the strange country up in the north where we haven´t locked down the society with force except for not visiting old people at nursing homes and similar. The schools are open and the government let people use their own common sense to do what is the best thing to do to keep the distance and not transmit the virus. Restaurants and similar are open but many volontarily close their shops etc. It´s better to be outside if you keep the distance than being inside with people. It´s a matter of balance with healthcare capacity, herd immunity and economy when making decisions to not prolong this situation more than necessary. I think we will have some difficult weeks ahead within the healthcare system and an economic downfall like many other countries in Europe. Future will tell.
*Joe* and *Mercedes* deserved so much better. *Joe* was meant to be one who *Mercedes* marries! To this day, I still ship them. But I also ship *Sylver* and *Mercedes.* And I’m glad they’re getting married, I really hope *Hollyoaks* doesn’t ruin their relationship. But *Joe* and *Mercedes* really did deserve better :(
