Hi man, nice content. Could you please advice a board that can be used for kite surfing and regular surfing, because I thought that for surfing boards are bigger than for kite? I am asking because I live on a baltic sea and want to start kite surfing but also heard that some people surf here when waves are big enough but that is not often. It would be nice for me to buy my first board that I will use for kite but maybe some day I can just surf on it.

      Hi, thanks for your comment!
Yes, you can wave ride while kitesurfing on Baltic Sea, it might not be a perfect place, due to the wave periods and the type of waves you get here but it is doable! I do kite surf on Baltic Sea (I mean I always use strapless surfboards, in kitesurfing known as wave boards or directional boards). One of my local spots is one of the best on Baltic Sea for surfing!
Here’s about the boards: surfboards are stronger, so to speak, in built construction than standard surfboards due to the fact that you spend 90% of time on top of your board in comparison to the classic surfing, where you spend 20-30% of time standing on your board.
It would be quite difficult to get one board to use for both (e.g. short surfboards are more difficult to ride hence they require some experience and skills from a rider and bigger board would be easier to handle at the beginning, yet if the board is too big it would be awkward to ride while kitesurfing).
If you want to experiment with one board I would advice getting a bigger board, like 5’8” to 6’2” (the surfboards have different volume and based on the weight of a rider you choose the right size but in your case to use for both, that is kitesurfing and surfing, you could choose a KITESURFING board with a volume higher to your weight, so you could also use it for surfing (which I have to highlight, it is going to be difficult at the beginning, so do not get discouraged and keep pushing 😉).
      Thanks again!
