Keep it up brother. Communities always need people to call out bad information in them, you may take some flack, but you're doing a service with this. Keeping people informed of the proper way to do things, and constructively criticizing needs to be more acceptable. Bad information costs people money.
I just asked my Dad, who is a professional diver for 38 years. And he does agree his method is rubbish. However, he did say 99% of all the lubricant used on his apparatus is silicone based lubricant, I'm an aircraft fitter, and all our lubricant for our air tools are silicone based so, have to say I'm on the fence with this one. However, I definitely wouldn't use it on threads .
Very insightful. I must admit I'd like to get more details on this we SHOULD do. I'm a propane user now thanks to your great propane adapter, but this is the first time I'm hearing not to use silicone oil :)
The main take-away from those CO2 capsule screws is that the design is not good. I've had to repair (replace...) tons of magazines from customers because it's too easy to misalign the threads and cause damage.
Mate hilarious, please do more reaction videos, also give us some informative maintenance videos, I watch you and bench all the time, I definitely have a better understanding of my gbbrs thanks to you, I've done mag mod on my akx mags and I'm waiting for your Alpha 2.0 arm to arrive.
As an avid GBBR user from the states. I must say............... YOU ARE THE MAN!!! I love your approach to these types of things, your humor in it and the commitment you give the community. THANK YOU Jaeger.
As a motorcycle mechanic I've seen some of the dumbest 'fixes' over the years from owners or owners friends, it follows that old maxim of 'a little knowledge is more dangerous than no knowledge' i.e. the guy with little knowledge will try to fix it and make it worse. As motorcycles can be far more deadly to a rider than a car if not properly looked after this becomes a problem but the amount of home fixes out there are more than you can possibly worry about and fix properly especially if the customer can't afford it etc... he can sign a waver at the front desk etc.. So going back to the video and your reactions which are completely justified I'd just say "don't worry about it" if it's not going to kill/maim anyone just let it be, stick to worrying about guys who can maim or kill people by accident by making mistakes with HPA and PCP that can inadvertently become bombs with a drop of oil in the wrong place! ;-)
I would only use silicone lube for o-rings not anything else even nozzles as silicone turns into gunk. To me for gbbrs like double eagle n4 I would use abby SM50 on friction movement parts like bolt but I don't too much only 1 finger print as that all you need or you'll get issues.
I am just curious, in your opinion what is the best way to clean an inner barrel, they say to use rubbing alcohol but after this I wanna ask someone who actually knows what their doing
The fact that he is saying you should just open the valve to drive out the exess oil (which would be ALL btw), and then he said to do the same thing on the CO2 mag is insane.
This is what happens when you have no knowledge in lubrication but have a loud enough voice. Lubrication is a precise operation that required great care and cleanliness.
I found this to be very useful i was always told 13-14 years ago to use silicone lubes for airsoft but seeing this iv just thrown all my silicone based lubes in the bin
Very funny but also sad that manufacturers like Novritch show it like that. Jaeger, don't you want to make a video on how to make CO2, gas mags... and what you use for them....
I’ve been airsofting since 2013 and I’ve always used silicone oil or silicone grease, because I was told to do so haha thanks for this video man, I’ll be looking into how to PROPERLY look after my gbb guns
Genuine question from an enthusiast: what would you recommend for 40mm grenade maintenance? My takeaway from the video is that silicone is not the way to go. I have a few grenades which started to leak or just not seal at all very quickly and have just become paper weights. Would love to know your opinion and advice. Ps, video is funny af
My biggest culprit of leaking mags has just been the baseplate screw not tight enough.. this all seems well excessive. Can you put out a cleaning guide please dude.
Off topic but just wanted to say, after watching your emg n4 mws Playlist. I bought one, and will reference your videos for any help, thank you for your work
After getting serious with gbbrs, I've started using superlube and ptfe based version of superlube. However, sometimes they just don't seal. I've had to support the oring with some silicon oil spray on top of the ptfe on my mws pmag, which finally worked and sealed. Do you have any suggestions other than superlube for stubborn situations like this?
You cant do this video without doing the "how to properly maintain your gas/co2 mags" it is like a correlation, dont do it this way because its wrong, do it this way because it is right and why it is right. I bet most of us dont care about quality filming, we care about knowledge and experience, and know i do need an explanation about why silicon based lubricants are not good, because that is what the airsoft brands are selling us, i dont use silicon oil or any type of oil because obvious reasons (hop up bucking), but i use silicon grease to maintain the o-rings, never had an issue but maybe it is because i replace the o-rings anyways from time to time so they dont really get damaged at all.... Another needed video is "airsoft myths", like PTFE tape everywhere to improve the sealing, washing your BBS, lubricate the feeding chanels or the barrel.... there are not enough videos about this topic, and they are necessary, because even manufacturers say you have to lube your magazines XD
It's a bad lubricant, that's all. Especially when it comes to metal-on-metal connections. Also, what is so user friendly about silicone? Lithium grease can also be sprayed, and I've never heard of any lubricant commonly available that is toxic or something.
I recommend you watch explosive enterprises video on the matter but silicone oil gets into places it shouldnt. and in terms of lubrication it really doesnt work all that well compared to super lube
Question, is there anything remotely similar to your ONE oil pen in the US? Please don't make me pay exorbitant international shipping costs for proper lubricant of my incoming mp7 gbbr. I'd like to properly maintain it, but international shipping is ridiculous.
Superlube has a oilpen called the 'Precision Oiler' if I am not mistaken. You can also get dropper bottles with a 'syringe' style tip. Very good at oiling small areas in a controlled manner. I bought a tub of super lub and a bottle of their oil like 10 years ago. Still got loads for years to come. Buying in volume can save a lot of money and you'll probably never need to buy it again. Get a grease gun from Park Tool, and a couple syringe tip bottles and you're set for life.
hi james please put out a gas mag maintince vodeo omg that was bad did he just drop it in as you said a gallon drum of silly oil please please do a video was shaking my head at this
None of these advice are bad, Jaeger is a snob, I've been spraying silicone oil everywhere and it never gets on the hop up. Try it, you will see for yourself.
@@britishbeef4890 Nah, oil just flies off moving parts if it's in excess. A bit of dirt won't affect your toy and if it's a lot then you didn't do a good job of cleaning it did you? Oil on hop rubbers flies off with the first 10 or 20 bbs the rest will behave normally and spraying it on nozzles is more of an annoyance than anything. Oil on gasket rubbers is good, even if they are nitril, it will keep them swolen and prevent cracks. No oil in your gas is what will kill your mags faster than anything else. Eventually they all crack and get plasticky no matter what you do to them, if they get exposed to moisture and sunlight.
Please do a maintenance video on magazines, GBBR’s using your Jaeger One Grease/Oil. It will be a winner!
Explosive enterprises has a great GBB maintenance vid and super informative info
this is like the airsoft version of the Verge PC builder video. you should do a proper video and send it to novritch.
This comment! Gold! Lmao
was looking for the verge comment xd
When he startet putting silicon oil on the threads, i lost it completly xD. ....
yup me too

So the only part that was correct is that you can store the mags with a little gas inside still to keep the seal?

You should do a vid on how to maintain those seals. I'd also love to know what you'd use on an AEG piston head o-ring instead of silicone lube.

Explosive Enterprises' GBB maintenence videos are the gold standard anyways. No oil, just Superlube 21030 grease.
