Yeah I’m usually very critical of women characters considering how poorly they’re usually done, I absolutely love Beth’s competence.
I was married to one just like her. She ain't strong she's just angry and she has nobody to blame but herself. I lived there 10 years and I never met one person that acted like any of these aholes.
I just can not fathom how this show and Kelly haven’t won multiple Emmy awards by now. Unapologetically honest characters and extremely well written script! You don’t find series like that anymore…

Beth Dutton is a character like I've never seen in a TV show or movie. It's like no matter how big the bear that comes after her, she not only wins against them, she utterly destroys them with prejudice. I don't know how many takes it took to get the look on her face when she was sitting on the curb after the explosion at the close of season 3, but it literally made all my hair stand on end. My first thought was "God help whomever did that to her". She has vengeance like few characters in movie or TV history can match. So much so that you want to pray for whomever she directs her anger toward, even though you hate them too. It's as it the devil himself is afraid to let her into hell for fear she'd take over. She is easily one of THE top TV (or movie for that matter) characters I've ever seen. She never fails to satisfy.
She gets better season after season with no signs of stopping.
I swear if this show is not nominated for more Emmy's
I do love the fact that while there are not exactly sympathetic characters in this show, the women are no shrinking violets that need a man to save them. Case in point these two. I can't wait to see them go up against each other in a few weeks. I hope the writing stays the course and we are going to be entertained by some epic fights - literally or figuratively.

The bomb wasn't as bad as the beating she took from Garrett Randall's goons. I just hope there's a season 5, one that heads in a new direction. The current one has pretty much run its course.

I've only watched these small snippets of the show, but it looks very well produced with original writing and excellent casting. I especially appreciate this lady who plays Beth. Well done. Not often does a show come along that checks all the boxes.

Indeed. We lost our beautiful places to richer than rich out of staters and that town /valley list seems to keep growing. Land values have skyrocketed in the more far off mountain ringed valleys now. Look at Hall & Hall's Colorado real estate portfolio full of large, unknown outside of their county, ranches for sale all over the state .
This is filmed in Utah. Another state that is going crazy with ski resorts, especially Park City! They are ruining the quaint mining town with massive over building. It’s not as fun any longer to vacation there!

Beth is a character created by Taylor Sheridan. There is a part of himself in every character. Sometimes I see Beth when he is talking to Jimmy in Season 4. Taylor must know and rely on good advisors to create such a wide variety of dazzling characters. Beth's understanding of the business world and treachery came from somewhere and some good advising. But the writer is everything, no matter how many good advisers there are.
Oh, I suspect Taylor Sheridan patterns a lot of his characters in gangs/families from his time as an actor in the machine. I'm sure more than a few of those execs he had to deal with were just like Beth, but with outie balls.

I know this is a TV show., so taking some plot points seriously can go overboard. With that said, if you live in Montana do not become California. I live in Southern Cal and have seen the deterioration. Don't do it. Keep the ranches and the small towns. If you don't you will become like Seattle, Portland or Denver. They are all LA except colder, wetter and more trees.
"Smurf" vs. Beth. This is gonna be sooo delicious. Whether they team up together and work effectively or they become devastating archrivals, it will be delicious to watch.

Jacki has been a household name for decades here in Australia. I'm 62 and I used to see her in local movies and TV shows when I was a kid. It's only in relatively recent years that she has begun appearing in mainstream American films/TV. Wonderful actress, she never fails to deliver.

Jackie Weaver ( Caroline ) is Australian so she may have a tough time per certain names/ words just like Beth who's admitted its hard for her sometimes because she is English and trying to speak American country accent. You hear her slip sometimes like when she was drunk taking bath in the water trough outside talking to Rip.

And Colorado has turned into Californication with ski slopes. One reason Dutton is ruthless anout hanging onto his ranch because in process he is hanging onto soul of Montana or the West at its best. My folks live in the *new* Colorado and they hate it. Watching as their neighbors sell off 140 acres at a time to people escaping mostly California. Peooke moving in who have turned it into yuppie latte drinking hell hole. They never go near Denver any more. Hollywood and the ski bum crowd not to mention the new influx of home workers or home equity crowd have ruined it for everyone.
Binge watched the entire show in a few days. Think I looked at Beth's face maybe twice. Thanking I'm gonna be sending the wardrobe guy a Christmas card next year🤣

This show is a great exercise in make-believe Its depiction of life in Montana vs. what it's really like to live there couldn't be further apart. The scenery is pretty great though. I watch with the sound turned off.

Nope. Take a little and then take it all. If you put all your cards on the table the table knows your hand too early. Beth is patient but angry and people get fooled ALWAYS by her anger. She is the personification of the application of logic with no emotion. That is what her bear trap is. Everyone thinks she's emotional and unbalanced. She is the most balanced mind in the group. Rip is rage, John is nostalgia and holds the line, Kaycee is too whipped by his whining wife to stand and stick. Beth acts like a hurricane but she is a tornado. She can take out a whole neighborhood and hit just what she wants to hit. That is the genius of her character.
