- TRICK-OR-TREAT SAFETY
Spooky Season is well and truly here! As Halloween gets more and more popular across Australia, quite a few of us will be hitting the streets for some trick-or-treating tomorrow night. But while we're out and about, police officers are urging us to stay safe! And they have a few tips. One: only eat treats that are wrapped, not the loose stuff. Two: if home owners aren't participating, they might have a poster up that looks like this, so don't go and bother them. Instead visit households that are getting into the spooky spirit. Three: try not to get distracted while trick or treating, watch out for driveways and cars on the road, and be aware of your surroundings. Try to wear costumes that have a bright or reflective element, and glow-in-the-dark is ideal.
US ELECTION
Well, we're just one week away from finding out who the next president of the United States is. Democratic candidate Kamala Harris spent the day in Washington DC to deliver her closing speech, while Republican candidate Donald Trump held a rally in the swing state of Pennsylvania. About 46 million Americans have already cast their vote, and the polls show it's going to be a close race!
CHINA ROCKET
Now let's head to China, where the latest human spaceflight mission has blasted off! Shenzhou-19 blasted off this morning from the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Centre on a mission to China's Tiangong Space Station. So, who have we got on board, then? Well, there's a trio of ambitious taikonauts journeying through the stars this time, including astronaut Cai Xuzhe, Song Lingdong, and Wang Haoze. Commander Cai was also aboard the Shenzhou-14 a couple of years ago, but Song and Wang are making their space debut! And Wang, who's currently China's only female spaceflight engineer, is now just the third female Chinese national to blast off from earth! But these astronauts will be doing a lot more than just waving, waving, and uh, waving. Once docked at the space station they'll tag-team with the Shenzhou-18 crew, staying in orbit for around six months, working on devices to protect the station against space debris, testing out spacewalking, and conducting a whopping 86 science experiments.
WINGSUITER
First up, to top of Jungfrau mountain in Switzerland, where wingsuit pilot Peter Salzmann is about to jump. He's just set 3 new world records. For the longest flight time, furthest distance, and biggest jump, in the extreme sport of BASE jumping.
ROBOT DOG FACTORY
Now to a car factory in the UK that's testing out a new kind of guard dog. Rover can scan equipment, take temperature readings, even help out on the factory floor. That's one good boy.
ZOO ANIMALS EAT PUMPKINS
And finally to London Zoo where these lions are being served up pumpkins for Halloween. But it wasn't just lions, these meerkats also got around the festivities.
