    RIP Torchilight. TL1 and 2 are classics in genre. TL3 they were sold as an IP and you could begin to see the Mobile monetization creep in ever so slightly. Now I see they went full in. Oh well at least we still have those first two.

      Ohhhhhh I didn't know that! But now I really want to go back and play the first two and see what made them so good originally...

      I will say, the gameplay is fun and shouldn’t be skipped simply because it’s a mobile game. It feels very Path of Exile with the monetization. I’ve played both seasons and haven’t felt like I NEED to spend a cent.

    Yooooooo . . . I came from Undecember as well . . . this game is fantastic. Any arpg fan would enjoy it. Great review!

      Agreed! Even though I like Undecember, for some reason I feel a little more relaxed playing Torchlight... lol

    Hated this game when I first installed it. Played for 15 min and uninstalled.
    Then I randomly saw some end game gameplay and decided to redownload it and forced myself to get through the story. Now I’m hooked because it is just a fun casual arpg that takes way less commitment than a game like PoE does.

      That's a big reason why I think it has so much potential. Creating a viable character, getting to end game, and even progressing in end game, doesn't take a career's worth of investment. Its not an incredible achievement, but not every game has to be. Its just fun.

    i think the game is fine for casual who have one hour of free time but above that everything its kinda too shallow they did a rly good job on the QOL and the crafting but imo they failed a rly big part of an arpg for me witch is actually fixing your build and improving it, just the fact that when you reach maps your build is already clearing at its maximum potential doesn't force you on actually improving it and trying different setup with that build.
    also the endgame felt insanely repetitive without any real kind of flavor to it i may be wrong on that but i played till level 96 and about 69h of playtime but im pretty sure i saw most of what the game had to offer at the time

      100% agree with you. I'm hoping that future updates will switch that up because right now, there may not be much longevity in the end game. If you do it once, you've kind of seen everything you need to see. Then you just have build creation, but after a while, building a character to do the same content gets a little too repetitive.

      i think its going to be pretty hard for ppl to comeback to since the game didn't do really anything wrong and doesn't have any real strong point ppl will just forget it or just not replay since there was not enough to create any sort of nostalgia feeling to comeback to
      also i think there may be too much QOL witch can reinforce the feelings that i have about the game

    I've played about 5 minutes of it on my phone while waiting for a bus. The intro didn't hook me and I haven't played since..
    But visually, it looks really cool. Gotta admit. I get the battle chasers vibe as well, also some dauntless vibes as well.

      Those were my exact thoughts when I first started playing. Love the look of it, but damn is this slow. Honestly, if it wasn't for the fact that I was playing to review it, I may not have stuck with it to get to the good part and that's seriously my biggest issue with the game. The end game character customization is so much fun to play around with, its a shame that you have to get through like 50 levels to get any sort of exciting combat or progression. At least to level 30 to start feeling like you are doing something meaningful.

      @@AllTradesJackReviews yeah that's a real bummer. Why can't ARPGs get that right?..

    • @AllTradesJackReviews
      @AllTradesJackReviews  Год назад +1

      In my humble opinion, its because ARPGs are in a mad race to see who can build the best repetitive end game system character building simulator. That's kind of what sells in the genre today. Everyone wants a game they can play for hundreds of hours and year after year. So why build a campaign that people will finish in 20 hours, if the devs can focus on building an end game system that will keep your attention and is able to be updated with seasonal changes. just my opinion. I dont like it, but i feel it to be true.

    “I would really like to not have to click on everything to see the details on it”
    My biggest nuisance with the UI. If they can just implement hover pop-ups on PC, the QoL is all there. You really shouldn’t have to click on anything to see it’s details on PC.
    I gave this feedback a while back, I really hope they fix it…

    • @AllTradesJackReviews
      @AllTradesJackReviews  Год назад

      Definitely. Its not a deal breaker but man does it cheapen the experience just a little bit. makes it so you definitely know you are playing a mobile first game and the version you are playing is an after thought almost... maybe I'm being a bit dramatic lol.

    I found the end-game to be somewhat overwhelming. I like the build variety, the ridiculousness of the combat, the art style, and how quickly you can get to end-game... but once you get to end-game it feels like *so much* is just vomited at you at once that my eyes start to glaze over. Compasses, embers, crafting mats, Flame Sand/Shards/Dust whatever, keys, random affix cards, the Void Sea treasure and trait mechanics... like none of this is really explained *at all*. It's just... here's end-game. Here's 18 currencies. Go do things.
    I've played ~20 hours and I still have absolutely no idea how crafting works, which is supposedly a big part of end-game. It's just not explained in any satisfactory way whatsoever.
    I stopped playing after several hours at end-game because I literally didn't upgrade my gear at all once I started mapping. The game just became a treadmill, the rewards seemed to stop improving, and I hit a wall. I assume this is where the grind/crafting starts, but it felt like rewards stopped scaling up. Games like this are only fun as long as you keep getting that dopamine drip feed.

    • @AllTradesJackReviews
      @AllTradesJackReviews  Год назад

      Hmm yeah that does seem like a problem. Like there’s a huge progression wall at the end to achieve the heights of the end game, but there isn’t much direction on how to reach it. Compared to how simple the rest of the game is, that would completely blind side anyone willing to get that far…

    • @xTazerTx

      random peiece of advice from a 6k poe enjoyer when a when a game throws you too many mechanics, currency.... just ignore them and comeback to those when you actually want to dedicate time for those and yeah you might be missing out on things at first but not in the long run.
