_The Chameleons - 'Script Of The Bridge'_, masterpiece of an album (imo, just like all their others in their own unique ways). *Hands down, one of the most **_seriously required_** discographies ever*.
modsleix6 Well said.
Second Skin and Up The Down Escalator are just epic tracks!
Verve Starsail Totally!
Not forgetting Don't fall.
The whole album is a work of art.
The whole album is great but second skin in my opinion is the best song on that album.

It's a masterpiece
You got this, you got 'Sleep No More' and 'Closer', you don't need much else. Except maybe 'Feeding The Flame' by Sad Lovers and Giants. Made high school bearable.
Amazing album. Everytime I dance it on the goth floors I get the goosebumps.
killer killer album i remember buying it 5 years ago and i sat there amazed
Great video on a great album. You said it best, an album just full of singles.
Echovoice17 Thanks Mark!
John Lever R.I.P...
Excellent! Represent!
dereckvon Aw yeah!
I have a vinyl copy of that fan and the bellows signed by Mark and a postcard too! getting Script of the bridge autographed soon.
Love this one Bret but it went with most of my albums in the 80's when I cut over to CD. So sad to no longer have it. Really hard to find now as unpopular. Thanks for showing, made me Happy/Sad
Jon Pickles - you gotta get this one back, Jon! :)
Monster LP! Great pick
VinylPatrol Thanks man!
I asked Mark Burgess and Reg Smithies to autograph my Script of the bridge album.
Tremendous band, and excellent album... Script of the Bridge's "Don't Fall" got me into them originally and then after securing an additional single "In Shreds"..Went back to discover the treasure trove. Have been submerged in their music ever since. I agree that the album is a great listen all the way through. Could be a singles collection, and it apparently was written in one of the music mag reviews at the time with that same thought.
Their Orange Cover -John Peel Sessions - remastered album, and the "Dreams in Celluloid" Album (collections of early tracks) are both terrific as well. (Great alternate versions of The Fan and The Bellows, Don't Fall, Here Today, Second Skin, etc.) The latter comes with a second disc which was their last release of the original Group: the 4 song "Tony Fletcher Walks on Water" EP, which is also great.
Cool to see them on your review...
Thanks Eric!
I am with you on this one Bret. The first time I heard 'Pleasure and Pain' I was sold. There was something about the energy and Mark's vocals that sounded unique and catchy. I ended up grabbing a copy of the CD and that was it.
My favorite song they ever did was 'On The Beach'. Reminds me of an endless summer past.
Thanks and excellent review per-use-you-ell~
Rob/Boston
Paneeks1960 'On The Beach' is excellent. It came on yesterday and I remembered seeing your comment here right before - I will probably always relate that song to you now, Rob! :) Hope all is well. Thanks for stopping by. - Bret
Great album
They were a band, as a few others have commented, weren't as recognised as they should have been
I've got these on CD, remastered version of this one - so much great music coming out all the time that doesn't get the exposure that it warrants
Great guitars, overall sound very cool and you've nailed it as always my esteemed RUclips guru - Chameleons very good.
Vinyl version looks mint !
paul elliott Right on, Paul - thank you. Not sure if you heard the news, but the Chameleons are booking dates for a Script of the Bridge tour. Be sure to look out for a show in your area. Thanks again for the kind words. - Bret
Great production, Bret! 1983 was a great year of music - you picked some good albums!
Enjoy your weekend :)
Armien
AudiophileLaws Thanks Armien! I hope you enjoy your weekend as well. Cheers!
Hi Brett. They're first two LPs are killer, got into them through my 2nd record shop boss, he was into some interesting stuff inc. Mark Hollis. In the same way The Church are even more unknown in the UK except maybe amongst those in the know, whens your Church video coming? Maybe I'll beat you to it?!
Martin Parrott Hey Martin, it's strange that The Church are so unknown in the UK - I've been hearing that a lot. The video is coming this Friday - stay tuned! :)
Great! Looking forward to it unless I still steal your thunder before Friday ;-) I've got around a dozen Church LPs but the latter ones on CD, not invested in '23' yet. An amazing live band too.
Got guitarist to sign my heyday!
Their second album "What does anything mean basically?" is even better in my opinion. Hope to see a review in the future.
mistermyers777 - Been listening to it and 'Strange Times' in the car all weekend so far. Seriously great. Thanks for watching.
nah.
Is there a connection between this album and Marillions Script for a Jesters Tear
in what way?
@@thesound-chameleonman3580 both albums were released in the same year and have similar names and also A Script for a Jesters Tear has a Chameleon on the artwork!
Great L.P. but I still like "What Does Anything......" better.
Script of the bridge is one of the best album's of all time.
