Glad to be a part of your journey, Bob. These are truly awesome videos you are sharing. Having driven that same route several times, I love the open country but I also appreciate how scary it is to find gas stations out West. Once you get to the Mississippi, you find them every 20 minutes or so but I know the feeling of running on fumes and coasting into a station--where they like to gouge you on price but you're happy to pay it just to keep going. Looking forward to part 3.
Loving these videos Bob! My grandfather had an 1984 300zx turbo 50th anniversary. Interior is the same as yours. Beautiful Datsun! Love watching you travel cross country. One of my favorite things to do. Have fun!
My 1981 280ZX Turbo was $15k out the door. Beautiful touring car. Turbos were very weak. Replaced every 5k miles or so and I was not heavy on the turbo use.
Thanks for the road trip Bob....l saw you were going 85MPH lol and i am thinking this old fighter pilot has been mach 2.25 that is 1667.4682355047 Miles per Hour in an F-4 Phantom back in 1967 during the Vietnam War......Thanks again my friend.... Shoe🇺🇸
Hey Bob, thanks for part 2 with the Datsun Z!!! Other than the scare with the coolant, it looks like this beauty is doing great!!! I'm sure that you'll be happy to get home & get it washed!!! I'm definitely looking forward to part 3!!! 👍👍🙂
As someone who owned a 1983 Datsun 280zx turbo anniversary edition I believe, I know it was a special edition black and gold with tan leather with an inscription on the seats saying some kind of anniversary edition or something like that it's been over 20 years. Take it from someone that has been there do not run that car close to the top speed of the speedometer of 85mph. I did and it quit faster than you could believe. The speedometer cable is in the transmission so the transmission has to be torn apart to get to it it just isn't a very fun or cheap replacement. I loved my car, but I had a shop put in a distributer they said it was more expensive, because it had to have the turbo distributor. Well I paid the shop for all the work, and after they put the part in the car the turbo wasn't working anymore. What the problem was the shop didn't put the turbo distributor in the car and it went out almost immediately, then the shop said since I ordered the part and it was wrong I still had to pay another fee to have it put in again. I didn't find that fair. I mean I just didn't want to pay the mark up for the part when they already got it at a big discount for being a shop, and then they add a mark up from the price I would have paid the part store for it. Just not right how they do that it's robbery. To make a long story short I ended up selling the car because I was tired of not having anything to drive and I was 19 years old so I had to have something
Wish I still had my '73 Datsun 240Z, but unfortunately rust shortened the life of the body living in Illinois with all the road salt used during winter. I wish Nissan would bring back the body style.
🇺🇸 *Thank you for ALL of the GREAT content Bob* !! *Glad you made it to the end of the second day of travel* !! *Looking forward to the NEXT part of this epic road trip* !! #EuroAsianBob 🇺🇸
fact , the 280ZX Turbo was almost 20 grand, the most expensive 80’s Z was the 1984 300ZX Turbo 50th anniversary edition topping out at $26,000 1984 dollars , more expensive than the 84 Corvette loaded.
Great seeing the trip home beautiful scenery. When I saw that coolant leak most I was like omg hose busted or water pump hope it's nothing serious . Anyways can push the ck systems button for us and film that pretty cool it does a diagnostic test I don't any other car did that back then ...also if the weather is good not wet can you give a nice pull through the gears love to see her purr
Wonderful update Bob. Have a good trip tomorrow. I'd stick to the ham and eggs at Denny's. Wonder if there is wa way to get the speedo to display the correct mph.
Thanks! Mph limit is in the programming. No idea if it could be hacked. I remember having an 83’ Thunderbird with a digital dash that did the same thing.
@@michaelpepin6995 The heater core had a hole in it so the passenger footwell filled with coolant as soon as it was switched on. To say the car was rusty was an understatement. That Nissan 5-speed (non turbo) trans was still the nicest, smoothest manual transmission I've ever used.
We do sell cars throughout the country and the world. We have a great shipping broker. We do not finance but there are many collector car finance companies out there like Lightstream or Woodside.
@@euroasianbob9268 ok cool Bob I really enjoy your videos hopefully I can be a client sometime in the near future. I'm like this about the 280 Z my uncle had a 76' with a 4spd. I remember that car well. Once again thank you Bob.
Popcorners!!! LOL
Looks like a lot of fun!
Imagine someone from 83 seeing this video with all the doodads you're carrying. Looks nothing short of a scifi movie from that period.

21gallon/80L fuel tank. Not sure why it's so large.
I had one of these. I loved it, but it was such a rustbucket.
Had an 82 turbo tail happy car when pushed.
