Good work in celebrating the birthday of CPH3. I had a very enjoyable ride in CPH1 during this year's Steamfest. Have fond memories of riding them on the Richmond line when still at school, upfront with the driver. The one shilling (10cents) excursion ticket was great value back then, another favourite Saturday afternoon trip was to Camden and back. Came back home black with soot!
Great work with the dual video shots! Brilliant! Wonderful seeing the real close up and slow moving shots as well. Just a great souvenir of a significant event.
They looked great sweeping through the curves. We had many trips between Sutherland and Engadine when I was little, always wanting that prized seat at the front. 😊
I remember in 1983, I attempted to go from Unanderra to Moss Vale when it was operated by the government railways, we went up this long incline with 2 CPHs but unfortunately one of them overheated with water spilling out, so we set back to Unanderra, I got off and only one CPH made the journey, I had a connection the next day so I decided to go back to Central. I waited at Unanderra for about 30 minutes until 4 CPHs turned up to take me to Wollongong. I forgot what took me to Central, probably a V set. Eventually years later, I made the journey on The Cockatoo Run. At work, it was decided to make a patchwork wall hanging with everyone contributing a photo which was printed on fabric which was sewn together. I contributed a black and white photo of a CPH, the Victorian work collegues thought it was a tram.
J.G. Brill,St. Louis Car,EMC,Pullman, would be proud of the fact, that there are still Gas/Diesel Electric Rail cars, still up and running! Beautiful carbodies, and well cared for, thank you to the Aussies that never forgot! Thank you! Thank you 😇 😊! Merry Christmas, and a glorious New Year!! 🎉🎉🎉🎉!
Thanks Robert. The motors are GM diesel with hydraulic transmission, they were originally petrol with a 4 speed transmission. A Merry Xmas and Happy and healthy 2024. 😊👍🏻🎉
@@steelribbons5886 An addendum, must be added,as the drive system,was/is that the Budd RDC cars used, and since there are a few still running, its a case,of never say die!! Thank you 😇 😊!!
Thanks Robert. I rode the Richmond line once but only watched them on the Carlingford and abattoir lines now long gone. Cheers and all the best for 2024.
Fantastic video! Nice to see vintage motor cars being preserved and used. And the track quality seems to be exceptional, compared to most scenes from the US.
And again Steve, you have out done yourself and been able to be in two places at the same time, always looking for that better shot 😃, cheers, Garry, (Merry Christmas and Happy New Year)
@@steelribbons5886 It's the first time *I've* seen you aboard the Tin Hare shooting "Driver's View" and internal shots. Though you've done these before.
I wish I look that good if and when I reach 100 years old! Tremendous video, just love that rural scenery, so green and lush, although I found the split screen dual video a little distracting, each to their own. Was that Mr Phil (aka The Hat) driving? Thank you Steve for all those great, and professionally presented videos during 2023, enjoyed them and all the best for 2024! 😉
Thanks Dave. The split screen is because of time that I don't have with a very low quality internet and keeping my videos under 10 minutes as it takes between 1-2 hours to upload and that is 1080P while 4K is 3 times longer Yes that was Mr Phil playing with the controls 🤣 Cheers. A Happy and Healthy 2024.
I remember when one was being moved to the siding at Albion Park and they ended up running it into the old coal bunker at the end of the siding. Took a bit to get that back on the rails
@@neilforbes416 Some times it be just a fluke if you come across someone you may bump into Phil from Sydney Trains Vlogs for example he has a huge following on RUclips his videos are excellent to watch.
Yes Steven from 1945 till the end of the 40's when they were painted the Tuscan and Russet brown scheme as they were serviced and the final Indian Red and Chrome Yellow lining till the end. Merry Xmas and a Happy New Year, Stephen.🙂🎉
@steelribbons5886 thnkyou, I remember them on the Richmond line and once caught one from Central to Blacktown in 1983. I have a mate Dennis McCarthy, he used to drive them nd met is now late wife whilst driving no 37 . He used to chat her up as she sat at the front, what a great story.
Hello Madonsteamrailways, The Rail Motor Society's depot is at Paterson New South Wales Australia. The train run was on the North Coast mainline. All the best for 2024.😀
Amazing that we're now celebrating "modern traction " centenaries! Well done to all those who made it possible 👏

I wouldn’t call the DMU being shown as modern traction!! The modern traction is electric, and mostly EMUs.
We do have modern DMU's as is the passenger train at the Paterson station at the start of the run.
