Really cool video! Like it a lot! If I can share some thoughts on RP side of stuff: 1. Aeon is probably the coolest path story-wise. A word of advise though: you REALLY need to understand that being an Aeon needs to stand above all else. I chose it for my first (ongoing) playthrough while also being concerned hwo a certain romantic interest might perceive my decisions, which lead me to being sub-par in the Aeon's eyes at the end of Chapter 4. Therefore, I couldn't do one REALLY cool thing story-wise. If you want to be an Aeon, you need to understand the laws of the universe you're in. Do not care about other people's feelings. Don't care about your feelings. Do not care about what you think is morally right - only about what's right according to the rules of the world. And those are sometimes (or even often) two different things. Which only shows that Owlcat really put a lot of thought into this game and this mythic path. You CANNOT experience everything and please everyone if you're an Aeon. And sometimes your decisions need to be inhuman. And, being a godly figure of cosmic importance, you probably shouldn't get attached to anything or anyone. There's no ego. Only Aeon. 2. Angel - kind of a default, frankly speaking. You need to be good, even if it sometimes seems (and is) really dumb. You're the goody two-shoes, though it (thankfully) sometimes makes you a bit dickish and judgemental. What I would like to see a bit more of (both from WotR and Pathfinder universe in general) is the ruthlessness and narrow-mindedness of angels - this is something that RPGs in general are kinda lacking, I think. Outsiders are really defined by their nature, so they don't really get to choose - so it seems reasonable that angels would have absolutely no mercy towards sinners. If that's lacking, then all that's left is an overall nice guy boy/girl scout character and that's a bit what happens to the player character with such an approach. Thankfully, there is at least one big example of this angelic bias in the game, but I am not gonna spoil it. 3. Demon - there's a lot of interaction with the world and the theme of personal power is pretty prevalent. What I maybe would like a bit more of is the weirdness of tabletop demons - in WotR both the enemies and the PC with demon mythic path are more or less humanoids with claws, which of course is in line with tabletop Pathfinder. I guess I just wish demonic entities played a bit more around various sins and drives. Incidentally, in Pathfinder the entities that are the most demonic in their nature are usually not demons as to their subtype (Attic Whisperer is one of the most disgusting - emotionally - things and it's simply an undead). But, of course, within the storyline the Demon mythic path is a really interesting choice. 4. Azata - mechanically probably actually the most potent one even if for having a dragon companion alone. RP-wise... Well, that's a matter of taste. Again, like in case of the Angel, I feel that the idea of "freedom at all costs" could be played out a lot more (both in cRPG and tabletop Pathfinder). I think we all consider freedom a universally good thing to have, but one could argue that in the setting of perpetual, possibly world-destroying war too much freedom given to people can be destructive. I actually didn't dig too deep into this path, but if someone knows, can they answer the following questions considering decisions: does the Azata path promote giving people freedom of choice above all else? If so, does it mean the player should allow people to pray to demons? Does it mean that the player is in any way encouraged to allow people to trade with stolen goods and such? I am aware of the notion that "one's freedom ends where another's freedom starts", but come on - at the very least, in case of beings defined by what they embody, this sounds bs. The moment you restrict freedom, it becomes a rule, and rules oppose freedom as the general idea. So yeah, if this notion of lawless chaos is not in any way enforced, then Azata has to be the easiest path RP-wise. You just do what you wish to be done. You allow people to do some stuff you like, disallow what you dislike or consider bad. Which, incidentally, makes you more of a dictator than a freedom-loving ruler, right? What's right? What you like, that's what's right. 5. Trickster - I think this video nailed the description of this one. You prank people and have fun, no one really reacts to what you're doing that much, you're a champion of being meta as hell. If you're one of those people who'd love to just derail whatever your tabletop GM has prepared, this is the one for you ;) The interactions you have with this path kinda resemble what happens if TTPRG players think everything should be possible with high rolls - I am almost bummed there is no "[Bluff] Convince them you're a tree." dialogue option for this one in the game. But it's cool. Just not very pronounced, but come on - can't expect game designers to account for all meta shenanigans a player would wish to perform. 6. Lich - during the marketing campaign I thought this one would be just kinda slapped on as this weird thing you can choose (along with another, more secret path), and I was both right and wrong. Lich for sure has some companions that cannot be recruited by any other means, but they are silent companions. The fact you have them is still meaningful from meta perspective, since you as a player should realise what it means that you have them, but don't expect them to have views on what you're doing. You can raise armies of undead, but they obviously won't give you much story interaction. And that's kind of the gist of this path and the other, secret one. Well, not secret, since it's been marketed from almost the beginning of development, but still. Those two paths are VERY meaningful and they change the whole storyline, but more by means of game mechanics than story design, really. The sole decision to pick one of them will change the whole game and you will be quite alone in your journey (not totally alone with Lich, but more than with any other basic path). And it really speaks volumes about your decision - you made it, now live with it. Is solitude cool for you? If yes, you're good. Does being disgusting to almost everyone else concern you? If not - that's the right path for you. There are also four additional paths later on (don't worry, you should and need to choose one of the above first) and I'm not gonna spoil them beyond saying that one of them is really badass in a way that Hector was way more badass than Achilles, two are really smart story-wise and fit it perfectly, and one that seems slapped-on (at least to me) because you just got to have this kind of a mythical creature in a fantasy story, apparently. After writing all of this I'm not actually sure why I did it. No one asked :D But it took a bit too much time to scrap it now, so just gonna post it - maybe someone gonna explain to me what makes Azata interesting! Thank you for including the RP perspective - most videos on cRPGs don't do that, which always puzzles me. When it comes to cRPGs, not "action cRPGs" which use the RP part only as a shorthand for "you can assign points to different abilities of your character", the roleplay part should be important, right? So thank you for that!
Thank you for writing this! I actually love having these types of dialogues regarding what is the best rping experience within certain aspects of a game. In my opinion Azata does not get deep at all especially in the way you described. Of course I played it in Beta so didn't experience Act 5 or any content that was added in the full game. It's fun and cute but not something that will blow you away with the ideas it delves into.
@@SlanderedGaming That's a bummer. I'm GMing a campaign right now and what struck me is that if you look at how different deities seem to work in Golarion, there is little to no explanation why anyone would choose to pray to evil deities - they can always get help from good ones, right? And deities like Shelyn or Sarenrae are known for being lenient, so if you repent, you'll get help. So why choose Norgorber, the god known for fooling others, or Rovagug, who just wants to munch on everything? Shelyn will heal your leg either way, as you might develop something resembling a morality later in your life! There's also no rule in the tabletop or cRPG version that would restrict followers of good deities from using their powers to help evil people who do not repent at all. If that was the case, it'd be interesting to see that you cannot heal one specific companion if you follow a good deity. I guess that's why Azata or Angel don't seem interesting to me, personally. I get it that people might like those, but it seems like those two are the most inconsequential ones story- or morality-wise.
@@GewalfofWivia Kinda wrote my stance on this in another answer above, so I just gonna copy it, therefore spamming a bit! Of course I know that my views on this matter are not what the tabletop says, so to be prefectly clear: those are my opinions. As I said in the original post, I think that even the tabletop version lacks some sort of depth as to how angels would work, meaning: they are boring and one-dimensional in the least interesting sense. I get it why you might like them though! To each their own.
@@synthjackalope8395 Regarding why an individual would choose to follow an evil deity: just got through Act 1 and in one of the interactions Daeran tells a story about the promises followers of demons make when recruiting. Something about a baker wants to sell more bread, so he says there's a silver coin baked in his loafs, hires an attractive actress to find that rare silver coin and the common folk will rush to buy the bread. Essentially offer promises of great power to people, and the hope that they might one day attain the power levels of minor deities will have them grovelling at your feet. Sure going to a good god gets your knee healed but it wont give you the power to get revenge on your ex and her new boyfriend; serrving Baphomet just might
I appreciate that you covered the role play aspect, which seems to get glossed over in other videos. I’ve started my play through, and have already planned out a second. This video was helpful.
Wow! I just loved your advice about doing an Aeon run as a second time through due to the nature of time affecting what would happen, such that it's better to do a non-aeon run first so that the Aeon run will be better appreciated. Fantastic advice that I will be taking. Thank you sir!
Dude, I'm enjoying your content as much as the next guy ... How you take the time to answer every single question anybody posts ... you should be setting around at least 10k subs easily. Keep up the good work my man :)
Thank you! I really appreciate that. If people take the time to reach out I definitely try to make sure I respond back. This is all new for me and I'm appreciative of the positive response thus far.
Came across your channel while researching about (and trying to be patient for release day lol) and really enjoying it so far, subbed good sir! For my first play through I go good path so its going to be an Angel Stonelord Dwarf of immovable justice.
@@SlanderedGaming I had a question for you, I noticed in your vids you mentioned playing both RTwP and Turn-Based. I vastly prefer turn-based but the devs have said the game isn't balanced around that. How do you feel it plays differently in your opinion? I can play RTwP if I must but its not my preferred style, however if the game is borked in TB mode (the AI doesn't know what to do etc) then I guess that would have to be my choice. So Im curious how it felt to you and what you think of it?
Just to add something, owlcat team answered some questions today on reddit and they said that aeon dcs would get buffed as well as the number of daily rages from demons and the number of minor demon aspects you can activate at the same time. Oh, and about the demon form duration, iirc it scales with your mythic caster level instead of your class caster level, so it is not low after a few mythic levels.
@@ragelion Aeon seems like it will be the go-to path for unfair difficulty because of what it does. Though it is a bit anticlimactic on lower difficulties, unless you SPECIFICALLY build your aeon to exploit the "everyone always rolls an 11" ability than can make you untouchable when paired with gazes.
And there is still Gold Dragon,Swarm that Walks.. and Apparently "Devil" to explore. This is gonna be fun. Also thanks for warning about Aeon for the story I was actually pondering playing it first lol
@@SlanderedGaming ill tell you right now without heavy spoilers you gain that path via azata and aeon so if you gonna go looking for it keep that in mind
IMO, I prefer Angel for my first mythic path to have a good understanding of the storyline, because the Angel playthrough is obviously closest to the main plot.
Great content, man. Yours are exactly the kind of videos I've been looking for these last few weeks! I was thinking about going with a LN character for my first playthrough, with Aeon as a mythic path. Haven't played the beta, so now you got me even more curious about these big changes in the story!
Demon made act 4 really interesting as a first timer. I felt I was getting a lot of benefits and concessions that most other paths were not and thst felt really cool
Great video! I love how you go into some details of how each path plays out without spoiling too much for new player like me! Dividing your ranking to story-telling and combat wise etc. is also great. You earn yourself a subscriber!
Really enjoying your content on this game. Don't have the time to watch other people play games but content like this video is amazing. Keep up the good work.
Yeah moving forward I am going to try and have a better balance between the longer playthroughs and the shorter content that is easier for people to consume.
It is good to see that Lich ranks so high on the lists. I know next to nothing about these paths because I wanna go spoiler free, but the option that I can become my favorite fantasy creature instantly sold me the game. Even tho I knew as a newbie a cruoromancer wizard would be challenging I knew this (adding atheist to it) is the one true path for me. So seeing not only it is a great combat option but the Rp is going to be almost as good if not better, really hypes me up to continue the game.
I'm new to your channel. I just started playing Pathfinder WotR. I love your positive attitude and appreciate non spoiler reviews (and the heads up when you give spoilers). I just subscribed. Merry Christmas!
I’m looking forward to trying to remember what the hell I was playing when I ran through the beta the first time. All I remember is Lich. Maybe at the end of the day, Lich is all we really need.
Great video man, nice to get some spoiler free feelings on them, your general advice on the caster vs. melee abilities of the different paths has pretty much sold me that Azata best suits my character for roleplay and combat!
Very much appreciate the detail you put into your videos. I am now fairly convinced I will get this game but still feeling overwhelmed by its potential lack of accessibiity.
Glad you enjoyed the content. There is a lot to figure out but luckily you have channels like this where you can stop by and get questions answered. As you run into things that seem complex do a search to see if I've already covered it or just drop a comment on my most recent video. I try to reach out to people who reach out to me.
IMHO none of the other mystic classes come close to Legend and the vast OP combinations that come with it. Haven't tried Angel yet, next play-through, great video thank you for sharing
Great video. My first character is going to be an Ecclesitheurge + Angel build partly inspired by your video of it. I might not do exactly what you did since I always end up putting my on spin on my builds but will use it for reference. I'm really appreciative of the work you put into these videos, there's not a lot of good content out there for the Pathfinder CRPGs so your channel is a boon for the community. Your skill as a content creator has really improved a bunch these last few months so keep up the good work. I'll be keeping an eye out on any new builds you post. Peace
Thank you so much I really appreciate the support! Eccle + Angel is exactly what I will run in my own personal playthrough of Pathfinder. It's so crazy powerful in this game.
This video made me flip from Azata to Angel for my first playthrough. Gonna go full Oracle and combine spellbooks with Angel, and get all the Abundant Casting abilities so I can use all the amazing Angel spells a lot... and since the spell caster level and DCs will be so high I should land a lot of them! I generally prefer the Arcane path (was gonna go Sorc Azata before) but I'm gonna make an exception this time haha
For initial playthrough I suggest everyone to go with oracle + angle you will become overpowered very easily and you will get bolt of justice by level 10 or 11. If you merge your spell books and this one spell is sufficient to destroy most of your enemies.
Trickster is very strong with a proper build. Angel is probably the strongest path and trickster is probably second place around lich or azata for reference
@@SlanderedGaming Trickster's strengths are about big crits. It lets you get very high damage numbers with martials. On second thought I'd maybe put lich 2nd place with angel 1st because merged spellbooks are just crazy strong but it's probably 3rd near azata for obscene damage numbers (e.g. 11-20/x5 is a thing :P )
I love how much variety they added into the game. Between story/npc interactions and mythic path choices you can easily play this game several times and have a completely different experience.
It was a great watch, thanks ! I have to say I'm a bit underwhelmed by trickster and azata, despite usually playing CN and CG characters. No matter though, I'm hyped about everything else !
You have great content. Thanks for making and sharing your thoughts! I'm at the Act 2/Act 3 transition and struggling so hard to commit to a mythic path. Demon was one I hadn't considered much yet but maybe that'll be the one. Fingers crossed lol
Nobody's wrong about anything when it comes to these things. Personally. What I'm interested in, in story wise. In order of ranking. Azata, Lich, Swarm That Walks, Trickster. Demon. Gold Dragon. Devil. Aeon. Angel. Legend.
Awesome. I am really interested in how they can make a quality story out of being somewhere who literally just wants to destroy EVERYTHING. I can't wait to see how that works out.
@@SlanderedGaming Yeah. Lich and Swarm That Walks are tied for number two. Out of the paths that have yet to arrive, that one is the one that most has me curious about their mythic powers. Or whatever they're going to call them. Maybe... Hives? Nest? Like maybe you add more and more insects, and each one does something... like a Wasp Hive/Nest adds more intimidation or whatever.
Swarm that walks abilities got datamined a while ago. Not reeeeeally what you imagined there. But it does turn you into a one-man-party. Well. “Man”. And “”””””one””””””.
Great video, was planning on playing this game multiple times and now I will avoid Aeon for my first time through to try and get the most out of this game I can.
Great video as always, one tip for your future videos would be when talking about demon for example, show demon gameplay onscreen, talking about trickster show trickster gameplay. Thanks for the information, keep it up!
Thank you. I did not receive a review copy of this game so I don't have any Demon/Trickster footage that comes from the full release. I didn't feel comfortable with using Beta footage because it's not an accurate representation of what the game looks like now. Once I have more playthrough I will definitely focus on editing more of those visuals in. Thanks for the feedback!
I only played through lich and azata in beta, Lich was definitely my number one pick though out of those two. I'm excited to see especially what legend brings to the table, As i think maybe it can challenge lich in terms of versatility.
I didn't get to experience the beta and Lich would have been my number 1 pick. How did they incorporate the Phylactery into the game? If your lich body dies and your allies go down do you just regenerate wherever your phylactery is kept?
For me trikster is top 1 combat mytic: great combat with perception feats, that can make sword saint crit on 13-20 for x5 damage, access to 7d6(with 2 feats) sneak attack for all classes, auto Greater invisibility, that is not detected by true sight. Trickster Sword saint or Arcane trickster is, probably, one of the strongest build in entire game. But, I am not sure about story...
That's absolutely true but everything you talked about is complicated. You need to actually understand the systems and combinations to make that work. Azata/Angel just work automatically even if you are very new to the game. That's why I placed them higher.
I think that in category "Min-max" Trickster would rank in 1st place. I'm planning to go with Arcane trickster myself and some of the passives just seem broken in combat. Dice buffs for entire party for any skill checks plus best items in game will tip this mythic over any other for highest difficulty.
The stongest trickster build is most likely a vital strike one. With a sword saint, fighter, skald or a barbarian you can crit at 11-20 with the right weapon and maybe go up to x6 for the multiplier (with the right mythic abilities and choice of weapon to spec in). Stealth rank 2 for improved invisibility, you get close by and vital strike, you can one shot anything in the game or close to it. I am thinking of a trickster kineticist, you get sneak attack damage and can improve your potential crit range a lot, it could be nice. It would be fine also with an elemental witch for sneak ray damage, and of course as you wrote for arcane trickster builds (i would go arcanist/arcane trickster and dip a level of thief for the sneak attack and get the second dice with a feat).
Hope you do another one of these after full release and for the other mythic paths. I will be really interested in seeing how things balance out in the full release and get your thoughts!
Good video man! I gotta ask though which trickster ability were you referring to in the combat section? I'm guessing the mythic persuasion trick? Super excited to be playing a trickster
Over 4k views at time of comment! Get used to it bro, in a couple of days once people realize what a hidden gem this game is, your content is gonna be recognized
I am on my first run as a LG Arcane bloodline Bloodrager with Angel path. So far so good! Glad Owlcats added more reactions and references to your deity, I chose Abadar and the judge has already been helpful 3 times!
I've got a lot of mine sorted in terms of what I'm doing. Angel as a first runthrough seems like the most thematically appropriate, and for that I'll be doing my Neutral Evil Rogue startup, probably an Arcane Trickster build. But for the others? I'm missing a few but I'm planning Kinetic Hellknight - Aeon (hoping I can figure a class arrangement that works well, I love this concept) Elf Sword Saint - Azata Elf Dragon Sorc - Swarm (Starting Azata because I enjoy the idea of falling so far) Heavy Armour Blood Rager - Lich (Might try something else but I'm absolutely chasing the Death Knight Vibe. Might even just do Fighter) Monk + Prestiges - Mythic Legend (I'm gonna punch god and nobody can stop me for I am a very normal farmer) Looking very much forward to a lot of my dumb ideas. Shenanigans await me Edit: Am I overplanning? Absolutely, fight me about it!
LOL That's awesome. Keep in mind you must have a Good alignment to do Angel Mythic Quests. Maintaining a Neutral Evil alignment as Angel will be difficult.
@@SlanderedGaming Yeah, I figured but the Redemption story is part of the whole point of it ya know? It's mostly the fun of the transition up the ladder
5:50 - Trickster's ability to use BAB = Athletics skill rank, get free L20 wizard book even as a non-caster and many other avenues to become a wrecking ball in combat requires synergy & planning but the end result can be insane imho. Currently rolling 10/10 E. Scion/EK - Azata though for duplicated spells & quickened spells after rapier spellstrike crit. Action economy of getting potentially 3 spells like Chain Lightning a round is pretty nuts
Nope, the Crusade was COMPLETELY broken so I had to set it to auto. Consequently I was missing a lot of content with the Demon playthrough. There was some other content that was halfway broken but you could still get through that was also removed with this release. So my Angel & Lich playthroughs saw more of the game.
I’m so looking forward to this game. My first build is going to be a cavalier hellknight aeon path. I’m surprised that I’m already planning this but my second playthough is going to be a wizard claric mystic thurge with lich path
Aeons might be able to switch into a secret, late-game mythic path that is very thematically appropriate for hellknights (and mechanically for cavaliers) in particular. But I won’t spoil more than that.
How many levels of Hellknight wil lyou take? Your mount won't level up with your Hellknight levels. You can take 4 if you pick Boon Companion, but mor ethan that and your horse will start dying really fast.
Currently doing an Assassin Core difficulty run. I'm feeling Aeon, Trickster and Azata due to their representations and playstyles. Problem I'm having though is that these paths revolve around alignment choices. As an Assassin I want to remain True Neutral (I'm good to allies, evil to demons, chaotic when appropriate and Lawful when Regill is around because Regill is best boy) so i dont want to go Angel if it makes me be a goody-two-shoes boyscout. Thoughts?
I'll try a role party and not just a main Char. Sylvan Sorcerer that becomes a Lich (Death) Regill multiclassed to Cavalier (War) Arueshalae stays as Ranger (Famine) Lann multiclassed to Druid (Pestilence) Four characters with Animal Companion, sooo Four horsemen of the Apocalypse baby! :P
The Azata dragon seems underestimated in your video. Mind you I will choose more based on concept/RP... The Azata dragon, Aivu, has a sonic blast at will, can cast high level spells, etc. It is basically a powerful extra caster companion (really not tanky). Way beyond an animal companion.
I remember feeling like the spell list was trash and that the sonic blast affects your party so it's usefulness was more limited. Could be wrong though.
@@SlanderedGaming Aivu gets ability that allows only enemies to be affected by his breath. And his spelllist allows to free divine casters spelllist from situational spells.
@@SlanderedGaming Makes sense that damaging AOE more often than not would affect everyone, BUT the sonic blast it modified later as Aivu levels (does not damage allies later).
@@АлексейЛогинов-ф6б Nice! I definitely didn't notice the first part. Regarding the second part I will pay closer attention to Aivu during my Azata playthrough.
Great video! it is also worth noting that there 4 more paths you can "switch over" into on the full release(gold dragon, swarm that walks, legend and devil) so this game is kinda of a replayability fest when you take the mythic paths into consideration Great intel on the aeon tho, I usually dismiss it cause its atrociously bad mechanically(it doesnt do much for the character) , its good to know it at least offers a great RP experience.
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed the content. Yeah I can't wait to dig into the mechanics of some of those other paths. I am really curious how a story about being a swarm seeking to destroy everything can be made into a pleasurable experience.
This is coming from me currently playing through the full game currently about to get to drezen, while being pretty much fresh in terms of what to expect with this game. Already have a plan in mind as to how I want to go, currently playing a vampire king dhampir curorormancer, with the danse macabre mythic feat tree planning to go azata. Curious if this is a solid build, will probably still stick with it even if it not terribly optimal. You have been my go to when it come to figure out the game, and while I am trying to be as in depth in terms of build, for this first playthrough it is more of a play what I thought was cool and have fun trying to rp as best as possible.
You can definitely make that work just be aware the choices you made have no synergy. Cruoromancer is pretty clearly meant to combine with Lich and being a Dhampir also folds in with being a Lich. Going the Azata route won't really help solidify the build you already have but if it makes sense to you then go for it.
Lol, maybe doing Trickster as a first playthrough wasn't the best idea. I still had a blast, but you're right, there aren't too many moments where you really feel like a Trickster. Still, the few moments were you unleash your power are pretty awesome (and so are the unique units).
You probably know what comes from me now! I hate being evil in any game, so for me Lich and Demon are the worst of em. Azata and Trickster are nice, but not my kind of thing. On second place for me is Aeon. The top spot for me is definetly Angel, and that is what i chose for my first playthrough, not sure which class i go, but definatly Angel mythic Path. 😉😃
For me like. Aeon scales up there with evil with Devil, Demon and Lich. I am... not a huge fan of the level of control the Aeon wants to install. To me, that's evil. Just. Pure evil.
To me, demon is anathema to the adventure path. I don't mind being tempted by power. I had no problem playing a LE tyrant in Kingmaker. And there are evil paths I could see working in this game. But the "hey, the people destroying reality have the right idea" paths, done at the seeming expense of the heroic arcs which the AP is about? That's my least favorite trend in fantasy today. And not just fantasy gaming.
Hey Samori, love your vids. Quick note: I'm not sure if your equalizing/normalizing the sound on your vids, but often your intro sfx/sound strings/genderal sfx and music are much louder than your narration.
Hmmmm I got that feedback before and thought I fixed it. Thanks I will look into that with my next vid. Tomorrow's slate is already uploaded but hopefully it will be fixed by Thursday.
Can't wait to play the game, I still don't know what my first build will be, I'm waiting to see the gold dragon mythic path because if I like it I will probably go for a draconic blood rager with a dip in dragon disciple with that path, and then my second play trough will be an evil lich
@@SlanderedGaming you can respec in game?? Thats great, how does that work? Can you respec all like race or class? Or feats or skills or is it just the mythical paths you can respec?
Looks like this video will be very successful viewswise. Congrats For mythics,I myself know I plan on being a battle oracle angel. Still deciding on weapon and 2nd mystery. Most like bardiche or glaive weapon and animal or wave or wind mystery. I love the depth this game will have.
Kinda sad to see trickster was last in the RP when I feel like it should be one of the highest. Someone able to manipulate the odds, take crazy chances, and completely reroll fate by playing with crazy things behind the scenes that no other mythic pass can do. All of that and it can swing in a good/evil or chaotic/lawful manner all depending how your trickster sees fit. Wish this wasn’t the case as it seems there’s so much potential there but it was all wasted and wasn’t built up to be as epic as it could’ve been. :/
I think it's just a big too silly at times. Both Trickster and Azata can be a touch on the immature side which doesn't always feel great at certain moments. A good example is in the start of Act 5 where you must pick between Legend / your original path, the dialogue options just seemed reductively stupid given the context and who you were talking to. They certainly have their own appeals, but more so for Trickster, I get the sense that it's certainly not one of the emphasized paths.
Nice vid, man. Can I combine demon with a CG or CN character? Or is it locked somehow to evil alignments? It seems fun to me thinking about a guy trying to do good, fighting fire with fire.
Thank you! To do Demon Mythic Quests you have to be Chaotic Evil. Outside of those times you can be whatever alignment you choose but honestly it's not easy to try and switch back and forth.
Mythic Trickster is a missed opportunity in my opinion, on the part of Owlcat I mean. It could have been focused on fooling the enemy, defeating demons not by brute force, but mostly by misdirection, a twisted lie, manipulation. For that chaotic fey feeling, I guess Azata is the way to go up to now.
Hey, wanted to ask how similar will an angel and an aeon playthrough be? Since they are LG and LN respectively I fear that I would pick mostly the same choices, which would leave room for little variance. Was going to play AEON first, but you did give a good point for holding it off.
Completely different experiences in my opinion. Aeon is much more focused on being a judge which leaves you room to side with VERY evil creatures. Angel is more focused on ending harmful chaos that is hurting people and ruining lives. There is room to be Lawful Evil as an Aeon, while there is no room for that as an Angel. All the Mythic Paths are very different from each other.
Concerning Trickster: I would probably rank both Flexibility and Combat quite differently. For me, it is indeed one of the most specialized paths, that only plays its strengths with builds specifically geared towards it: First off, we need classes that can make actually good use of Sneak Attacks, basically by high attack frequencies. (TWF; or at least close to full BAB) Then, these have to also focus strongly on some characteristics: Religion can, for example, give classes like Ranger or Slayer with a high Wis score , tons of Cleric Domains, and corresponding spells. Trickery, Stealth, and especially Mobility, ask for seriously high Dex, etc. And then, the "better" chosen tricks have actually quite a high combat focus: Persuasion, as mentioned in the video. Feels somewhat lackluster, compared to "simpler" methods (like Dazzling Display) ; though: The DCs are not through the roof.( On higher difficulties) Trickery: Powerful Dispel; followed up by "Powerword Kill vs standard mobs" UMD: Permanent Empower/ Maximize, or similar, on spells ( most handy for e.g. Magus types) Mobility: High defense; high movement; massive amounts of AoO per round. - Probably in most cases the strongest incentive for Trickster. Stealth: High Spell Res; basically permanent Invisibility Sure; Knowledge Arcana (might be pretty good, if picked early enough) and Lore Religion add rather to the general power level. But, one clearly does not pick the class for the utility provided by Lore Nature, Knowledge World, or Athletics, which all might prove occasionally handy. To summarize: Trickster, not that unexpected, comes mostly to its own on "dual-wielding" ( including 1H- Magus, with Spell Strike) melee Dex classes. Rangers/Slayers even qualify when geared towards Strength. - It is far more combat-focused, but far less versatile, than it might look at quick glance: Full casters, ranged chars, brute-force warriors all look better somewhere else. Aeon gives, afaik, probably more classes "decent" options.
The vast majority of people playing this game will increase their persuasion skill. As a Trickster this allows you to paralyze the entire room at the start of combat automatically. That is a crazy useful ability regardless of what class you are running. I don't disagree with most of what you said but I think you undervalue how much this ability allows people to run whatever build they want when using Trickster. The other stuff is icing on the cake that will make builds even more effective.
Well I plan to use dragon mythic path - complete with sorcerer golden dragon bloodline, 1 rank of scaled monk to at the end be all the time transformed in dragonform and just sling spells, dragonbreaths and claw attacks around :D
Good insights, made me feel a tad worried for considering Trickster. I was hoping for a more deep personal involment in that path. As well as a good story in regard to roleplaying, but hopefully the full game especially the last chapters and ending are better and give it a bit of whoomp! :-) The thing I really dont like in Trickster as a first impression is that you need to have specifik skills regard to get the tricks to work, like stealth and Arcana for a example. It would have been better if they all was based on the mytical rank so they where equally good for all classes.
The thing is you will be competent in certain skills way before you are able to get high Mythic rank levels. So I think doing it that way gives trickster more flexibility which is why it ranks high in that category.
@@SlanderedGaming yes true, but thats also make classes with few skillpoint less able to use Trickster Path as well as the classes with many skillpoints. They should strive toward getting the paths balanced for all builds. Also if you are lucky you get endgame items way to early something i think is bad for the balance of the game.
Dude ! I just realized why I was thinking you had an amazing but familiar voice ! You sound like Neil DeGrasse Tyson, one of the coolest nerds on the planet!...
Great content, enjoyed it so much!
Thank you!! Really enjoyed going through the beta with all the different Mythic Paths. Can't wait to see the end!
I really like that you ranked each mythic path with different criteria, instead of just an overall rank for each.
Thank you! It took more work but I felt like it would be more valuable for people trying to make a decision.
Really cool video! Like it a lot! If I can share some thoughts on RP side of stuff:
Angels absolutely can be merciful towards sinners. Some deities of the upper planes are very lenient, first and foremost Shelyn.

Awesome glad the video was helpful for you.
YES! I was constantly asking Beta players this and they always ended up talking about builds and mechanics!
Wow! I just loved your advice about doing an Aeon run as a second time through due to the nature of time affecting what would happen, such that it's better to do a non-aeon run first so that the Aeon run will be better appreciated. Fantastic advice that I will be taking. Thank you sir!
My pleasure!
I really like this breakdown. Would love to see an updated list of this (including endgame paths like gold dragon and swarm) when you get the chance!
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed the content. I will definitely update this once I have went through the other paths.
Awesome! Glad you are enjoying the channel. When I finish the game and can go back to making builds will definitely do some more Dwarf content.
At Mythic level 6 I had three uses of Demonic Rage. Looking forward to seeing those buffs. 😂
They're still bad, they haven't actually fixed why they're bad lol.
I managed with enduring spells and greater enduring spells to spend all day long in demon form...
And there is still Gold Dragon,Swarm that Walks.. and Apparently "Devil" to explore. This is gonna be fun. Also thanks for warning about Aeon for the story I was actually pondering playing it first lol
My pleasure! I really want to know more about Devil.
@@SlanderedGaming ill tell you right now without heavy spoilers you gain that path via azata and aeon so if you gonna go looking for it keep that in mind
@@OrochiFlame Yup after my full Lich playthrough, Aeon is definitely next.
@@SlanderedGaming Have you tried Gold Dragon yet? Don't see it in the video, wondering if you disliked it or just haven't used it
@@blackrican924 my only complaint with Gold Dragon is that if you did like me and went with Azata, you don't get to keep your dragon.
IMO, I prefer Angel for my first mythic path to have a good understanding of the storyline, because the Angel playthrough is obviously closest to the main plot.
Angel and Demon are basically treated as two sides of the same coin so both of them give you a lot more information regarding the main story players.
Great content, man. Yours are exactly the kind of videos I've been looking for these last few weeks!
I was thinking about going with a LN character for my first playthrough, with Aeon as a mythic path. Haven't played the beta, so now you got me even more curious about these big changes in the story!
Awesome! Glad you are finding the content valuable. Aeon is amazing you'll have a great time.
This was incredibly comprehensive, as a newcomer to pathfinder and this game, this was SO freakin useful in planning my playthroughs!
Awesome! I am glad you enjoyed it!
Demon made act 4 really interesting as a first timer. I felt I was getting a lot of benefits and concessions that most other paths were not and thst felt really cool
Yeah it is absolutely a unique experience.
Great video! I love how you go into some details of how each path plays out without spoiling too much for new player like me! Dividing your ranking to story-telling and combat wise etc. is also great. You earn yourself a subscriber!
Awesome thank you! Glad you enjoyed the content. Welcome to the channel!
@@SlanderedGaming please make a official launch ver. full ranking!
Nice! Let me know what you think of the path when you play through it!
I'm new to your channel.
I just started playing Pathfinder WotR.
I love your positive attitude and appreciate non spoiler reviews (and the heads up when you give spoilers).
I just subscribed.
Merry Christmas!
Thank you! Welcome to the channel and happy holidays!
Thank you for the video.. Trying to keep my mind busy till Thursday.. Planning on starting a Barb Azata Falchin crit build
Nice! Glad you are enjoying the content. This wait is BRUTAL.
Devil and Swarm that walks path - "Am I a joke to you"
LOL Those paths were not available in the beta so I hadn't played them yet.
Ooh, that's good advice on playing an Aeon. Leaving it for a second run makes much sense!
Thanks glad you found the content valuable.
I’m looking forward to trying to remember what the hell I was playing when I ran through the beta the first time. All I remember is Lich. Maybe at the end of the day, Lich is all we really need.
Surely you should know by now that Lich is all that's required. LOL
I had already decided on being a lich my first playthrough and came here just to seek validation. I was not disappointed, thank you lol
My pleasure! Let me know what you think of Lich after you play it.
Great video man, nice to get some spoiler free feelings on them, your general advice on the caster vs. melee abilities of the different paths has pretty much sold me that Azata best suits my character for roleplay and combat!
Awesome! Glad I could help you make a decision.
Beat video I have seen so far on Mythic choices, thanks for the work you put into this!!
Thanks it was my pleasure!
IMHO none of the other mystic classes come close to Legend and the vast OP combinations that come with it. Haven't tried Angel yet, next play-through, great video thank you for sharing
I haven't played through all the paths so you might be right but off hand I would say a fully leveled Swarm beats everyone else.
@@SlanderedGaming Crusade or Character build?
LOL Awesome! The best Angel spells ignore spell resistance so you don't have to worry about landing them. :)
Exactly the video i was looking for my first playthrough! Very informative and great work with ranking them in different categories!
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed the content!
For initial playthrough I suggest everyone to go with oracle + angle you will become overpowered very easily and you will get bolt of justice by level 10 or 11. If you merge your spell books and this one spell is sufficient to destroy most of your enemies.
Yeah Angel is super powerful so anything that combines with it will make you beastly.
Great video, thanks! Looking forwards to the update with endgame and other paths.
Thanks! I will definitely update it once I have gone through all the different paths!
I'm having an absolute blast as the Trickster, might not be the strongest, but definitely the most fun path to play
Trickster is very strong with a proper build. Angel is probably the strongest path and trickster is probably second place around lich or azata for reference
Yeah I am about to replay Trickster to see if my feelings change after going through the entire path.
Thanks you for bringing all this amazing content.
Thank you! I am glad you are enjoying the content thus far.
Great video! Just want to say thanks for all the good informative videos before the release. Really helpful.
Thank you! Glad you have been enjoying the content!
I love how much variety they added into the game. Between story/npc interactions and mythic path choices you can easily play this game several times and have a completely different experience.
Yup I agree 100%.
Found this video thanks to a recommendation on reddit. Great explanation and liked that you made different rankings for the mechanics and the story!
Thank you! Welcome to the channel and glad you enjoyed the content!
This is exactly the level of detail I was looking for!
You've got yourself a sub, mate!
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed the content and welcome to the channel!
It was a great watch, thanks ! I have to say I'm a bit underwhelmed by trickster and azata, despite usually playing CN and CG characters. No matter though, I'm hyped about everything else !
Yeah it might feel different once more of the game content is in like the Dragon's voice acting.
Also. Love your videos. It was actually your Lich walkthrough that piqued my interest in the Pathfinder 'verse and Wrath of the Righteous itself.
Awesome! I am really happy to hear you enjoyed the Lich content and it made you more interested in the game!
Thanks for the review! It was bananas!
😂😂
congrats on 1k subs brother ! looking forward to your full playthru next week
Thank you! I cannot wait to get started!
You have great content. Thanks for making and sharing your thoughts! I'm at the Act 2/Act 3 transition and struggling so hard to commit to a mythic path. Demon was one I hadn't considered much yet but maybe that'll be the one. Fingers crossed lol
Thanks glad you are enjoying the content! Hope you are happy with the Mythic choice you make. If not there always the late game paths. :)
Maybe an Evocation Swarm That Walks for my second or third playthrough. Cooked meat for my little Swarm buddies.
Yeah the legend seems like a waste of opportunity in my opinion. For the player I mean.
Awesome! Glad this content was informative for you!
Well done Sir. Video hyped me even more. Seeing ur channel today for the first time and will stick with it. Greetings from Germany.
Nice! Thank you! Welcome to the channel!
I am curious to see if there is actually a story mode with Legend or if you just pick it and move forward.
I didn't get to experience the beta and Lich would have been my number 1 pick.
How did they incorporate the Phylactery into the game? If your lich body dies and your allies go down do you just regenerate wherever your phylactery is kept?
Enjoying all the WotR content! Rally helping out with trying to figure out what kind of character I want to play!
Awesome! Glad you are enjoying the content thus far.
Oh yeah I will absolutely run through this again!
Would you recommend turn based or play with pause to most people?
I recommend you do both. Real time for trash mobs, turn based on boss fights. You can switch between the two at the click of a button.
@@SlanderedGaming Ah, thanks.
Good video man! I gotta ask though which trickster ability were you referring to in the combat section? I'm guessing the mythic persuasion trick? Super excited to be playing a trickster
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed the content! Yeah I was referring to Mythic Persuasion Rank 2. Crazy ability.
This channel deserve a ton of subs. Great content man!
Thank you so much I appreciate the support!
Great video, dude! You're killing it.
Nobody is more shocked than me! LOL Thanks for the support!
fantastic breakdown of the mythic paths, pre-ordered the game, can't wait to get my hands on it !
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed the content. Can't wait to get started on the full version!
Over 4k views at time of comment! Get used to it bro, in a couple of days once people realize what a hidden gem this game is, your content is gonna be recognized
Dude I am COMPLETELY shocked. LOL This is by far the best one of my videos has ever done. So exciting!
Ya, saw it got posted in the relevant subreddit as well so it's definitely getting some extra eyeballs. It's well deserved.
@@mduckernz Holy crap I just saw that. Wow that's incredibly cool. Thanks for letting me know.
I am on my first run as a LG Arcane bloodline Bloodrager with Angel path. So far so good!
Glad Owlcats added more reactions and references to your deity, I chose Abadar and the judge has already been helpful 3 times!
Nice! I definitely want to RP as an Abadar worshipper at some point.
I've got a lot of mine sorted in terms of what I'm doing. Angel as a first runthrough seems like the most thematically appropriate, and for that I'll be doing my Neutral Evil Rogue startup, probably an Arcane Trickster build. But for the others? I'm missing a few but I'm planning
Kinetic Hellknight - Aeon (hoping I can figure a class arrangement that works well, I love this concept)
Elf Sword Saint - Azata
Elf Dragon Sorc - Swarm (Starting Azata because I enjoy the idea of falling so far)
Heavy Armour Blood Rager - Lich (Might try something else but I'm absolutely chasing the Death Knight Vibe. Might even just do Fighter)
Monk + Prestiges - Mythic Legend (I'm gonna punch god and nobody can stop me for I am a very normal farmer)
Looking very much forward to a lot of my dumb ideas. Shenanigans await me
Edit: Am I overplanning? Absolutely, fight me about it!
LOL That's awesome. Keep in mind you must have a Good alignment to do Angel Mythic Quests. Maintaining a Neutral Evil alignment as Angel will be difficult.
@@SlanderedGaming Yeah, I figured but the Redemption story is part of the whole point of it ya know? It's mostly the fun of the transition up the ladder
Just started playing Wrath of the Righteous. I enjoy your content. I was wondering if you have played the the Tabletop rpg Pathfinder?
Glad you are enjoying the content! Nope I have never played the Tabletop version but seems like it is a lot of fun.
This is absolutely fantastic. I'm playing through Kingmaker just now but Ive subscribed anyway
Thank you! Glad you are enjoying the content!
Nice video 👍🏻
Thanks glad you enjoyed it.
Yeah Trickster is definitely amazing when put together properly.
is it possible that your demon playthrough being on later game versions might affected your rankings?
Nope, the Crusade was COMPLETELY broken so I had to set it to auto. Consequently I was missing a lot of content with the Demon playthrough. There was some other content that was halfway broken but you could still get through that was also removed with this release. So my Angel & Lich playthroughs saw more of the game.
I’m so looking forward to this game. My first build is going to be a cavalier hellknight aeon path. I’m surprised that I’m already planning this but my second playthough is going to be a wizard claric mystic thurge with lich path
Nice! I am going to be a Cavalier for my Azata path. Definitely looking forward to it.
Thoughts?
Oooo loved this!
Do you have one about the companions? I heard there's like 13 of them O_o
Not yet but I will. 😀
Hey, love this video. Have you thought about updating it post full release?
Yup I will update it once I have played all the Mythic paths.
I'll try a role party and not just a main Char.
Sylvan Sorcerer that becomes a Lich (Death)
Regill multiclassed to Cavalier (War)
Arueshalae stays as Ranger (Famine)
Lann multiclassed to Druid (Pestilence)
Four characters with Animal Companion, sooo Four horsemen of the Apocalypse baby! :P
Niceeeeeeeeeeee that's awesome!!
I love this concept !!
Leaving a like and comment so that, hopefully, the algorithm gods may bless you.
Thank you! I appreciate the support!
I like how the dragon actually is introduced through story rather than just snapping your fingers and bippity boppity boo there's an animal companion.
Great video!
it is also worth noting that there 4 more paths you can "switch over" into on the full release(gold dragon, swarm that walks, legend and devil) so this game is kinda of a replayability fest when you take the mythic paths into consideration
Great intel on the aeon tho, I usually dismiss it cause its atrociously bad mechanically(it doesnt do much for the character) , its good to know it at least offers a great RP experience.
@@SlanderedGaming Much appreciated man. Look forward to exploring more of this game as well as the advice you post through your videos and breakdowns.
Lich baby! I played all manner of summoners in Pathfinder so naturally I'm going Lich my first playthrough.
Yeah I can't wait to litter the battlefield with undead hordes.
Lol, maybe doing Trickster as a first playthrough wasn't the best idea. I still had a blast, but you're right, there aren't too many moments where you really feel like a Trickster. Still, the few moments were you unleash your power are pretty awesome (and so are the unique units).
Yeah I personally feel like Angel works best first.
Absolutely fantastic video
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it!
Angel was FANTASTIC. I know a lot of people can't stand being evil in games so I take one for the team and show them that content. LOL
For me like. Aeon scales up there with evil with Devil, Demon and Lich. I am... not a huge fan of the level of control the Aeon wants to install. To me, that's evil. Just. Pure evil.
@@TheRebelkid15 Right? So I presume you'll be doing Azata or Angel like me too haha
@@mduckernz Azata and Trickster, just from the descriptions, will be among my favorites.
Nice. Remember you can respec in the game so even if you don't like the build you can always change it to something else once you have Dragon.
@@SlanderedGaming you can respec in game?? Thats great, how does that work? Can you respec all like race or class? Or feats or skills or is it just the mythical paths you can respec?
@@jurgen4466 You can respec everything _except_ the path (because it would totally break the story presumably)
I went with Aion and was quite satisfied with my decisions to change history.
Yeah I am looking forward to getting deep into it.
Looks like this video will be very successful viewswise. Congrats
For mythics,I myself know I plan on being a battle oracle angel. Still deciding on weapon and 2nd mystery. Most like bardiche or glaive weapon and animal or wave or wind mystery. I love the depth this game will have.
So many options! Yeah it seems like people really appreciate this video. I couldn't be happier about it.
This video is bananas.
😂 I didn't realize until editing how often I used that phrase. LOL
I haven't went through the whole game as trickster yet so that might change my mind but from what I am hearing it is ranked properly.
Excellent video subbed!
Thank you!
Yeah I'm not feeling it but might feel different when I see the full release.
Thanks for your videos really like them. I hope you will have more followers soon.
Thank you! The followers will come I just have to keep making quality content. I appreciate the support.
The moment I combined Angel spellbook with my Oracle? Game changer.
Yeah it's major.
very nice, hmm wonder how your ranking will change once you get a hold of the dragon and the swarm myth path?
I am really excited to find that out as well.
Have been watching your videos and just want to wish you fantastic day. Feels bad if you dont get one :D Keep videos coming! love to watch them
Thank you! I appreciate it. Glad you are enjoying the content!
Great video. Basically reaffirms my plans. First playthrough is gonna be demon time. Second playthrough I'll build my own undead empire :D
Awesome glad you enjoyed the content.
Other mythic paths might be a bit too easy for you if you start with demons lol, lich is crazy late game
I'm new to the game so thanks for this
My pleasure!
pre loaded and ready to go they had to give a replacement key, LES GOOOOO!
AWESOME!! Glad to hear you'll be able to jump right in.
Concerning Trickster: I would probably rank both Flexibility and Combat quite differently.
For me, it is indeed one of the most specialized paths, that only plays its strengths with builds specifically geared towards it:
First off, we need classes that can make actually good use of Sneak Attacks, basically by high attack frequencies. (TWF; or at least close to full BAB)
Then, these have to also focus strongly on some characteristics:
Religion can, for example, give classes like Ranger or Slayer with a high Wis score , tons of Cleric Domains, and corresponding spells.
Trickery, Stealth, and especially Mobility, ask for seriously high Dex, etc.
And then, the "better" chosen tricks have actually quite a high combat focus:
Persuasion, as mentioned in the video. Feels somewhat lackluster, compared to "simpler" methods (like Dazzling Display) ; though: The DCs are not through the roof.( On higher difficulties)
Trickery: Powerful Dispel; followed up by "Powerword Kill vs standard mobs"
UMD: Permanent Empower/ Maximize, or similar, on spells ( most handy for e.g. Magus types)
Mobility: High defense; high movement; massive amounts of AoO per round. - Probably in most cases the strongest incentive for Trickster.
Stealth: High Spell Res; basically permanent Invisibility
Sure; Knowledge Arcana (might be pretty good, if picked early enough) and Lore Religion add rather to the general power level.
I watched for 2 mins but then I didn't want to spoil anything so ima leave BUT I'll be back !!! ♡
😂 I COMPLETELY understand, just come back when you are ready.
Well I plan to use dragon mythic path - complete with sorcerer golden dragon bloodline, 1 rank of scaled monk to at the end be all the time transformed in dragonform and just sling spells, dragonbreaths and claw attacks around :D
Nice. Unfortunately I know very little about how to become a Golden Dragon so good luck figuring that out in the game. LOL
😂😂😂 I never thought about that! But now that you mention it I guess we do sound very similar and I am a pretty big nerd myself.
