    I agree with Audrey Lenell....your project looks wonderful but letting your children help/be involved (and safely) was by far the best. Building strong bonds, teaching and when they are involved, they appreciate...Keep up the beautiful work and the awesome parenting. You guys rock!

    Love to see your boys helping. I do all kinds of work around my house and my son or daughter never see a guy in my house to repair anything. My son when he was little like your sons in the video he comes and asks me whether I want a coke, water or something but after when he was about 12-13 he abandon that caring. Now he is 18 and ready to go to college. I asked him to come and work with me but he never did. One day he will realize what he was missing when I am not around.
    I got little emotional seeing your boys helping you. Great ... keep it up and good luck. Time goes by so fast and you won't even know it.

(I probably should have started a little smaller) lol In any event, I am following all of your direction, but on a much smaller scale as my living room could fit into yours about 2 times maybe 3. lol. i have a 65 inch tv and a 50 inch ts fireplace.
    I just love this design and how you and your family work together. Would love to attach a pic of how I am making out up to now, but I don't see a place we can upload attachments. Thank you and Amazing Job!!!!!

    • @CaliBoud

      Built directly over tile because it was level and solid. You could secure carpet w/ scrap wood to floor and attach fireplace frame to scrap wood to eliminate give.

    This is amazing!! So basic questions:
    1. Did you remove the crown molding before putting up the framing?
    2. how high is the hearth off the ground?
    3. i would like to build something very similar but the stone veneer will only come up half way (so the stone will only be below the mantel beam). .. above the mantel beam, i want to mount a TV - should i just mount the TV directly into the wall studs? Also, how do i hide the wires in the wall and inside the mantel (behind the electric fireplace)?

    • @CaliBoud

      @@CaliBoud So the front is 6" high--how deep is the shelf? 6" also? Our will be 72" wide but want to make sure we have wide and tall enough. Yours looks great.

    • @CaliBoud
      @CaliBoud  2 года назад

      Gotcha. The shelf uses a 6" x 10' pine board (really 5.5"). so 6" tall and 6" deep to get that bulky look. Good luck can't wait to see pictures of yours.

      Make no mistake, when you're working with 4 young kids, it will consume time. But the flip side, it's time spent with my young apprentices.
