I agree with Audrey Lenell....your project looks wonderful but letting your children help/be involved (and safely) was by far the best. Building strong bonds, teaching and when they are involved, they appreciate...Keep up the beautiful work and the awesome parenting. You guys rock!
Wow!!! All I can say is Wow!! How awesome is it that your kids are involved in this build. I freaking love it!! You are such an amazing Parent!! Keep up the great work with teaching them your God given craft. I just love it!❤
Love to see your boys helping. I do all kinds of work around my house and my son or daughter never see a guy in my house to repair anything. My son when he was little like your sons in the video he comes and asks me whether I want a coke, water or something but after when he was about 12-13 he abandon that caring. Now he is 18 and ready to go to college. I asked him to come and work with me but he never did. One day he will realize what he was missing when I am not around. I got little emotional seeing your boys helping you. Great ... keep it up and good luck. Time goes by so fast and you won't even know it.
Sam thx brother. Will show kiddos comment. The reflection is in our work. Out of necessity, their curiosity and willingness as well as concerns for time spent away from kids, the kids on board helping.
This is exactly what I was looking for to help me figure out how to do the same thing in my home! Thank you for making this video and I love how your family was involved!
So I started this project about 3 weeks ago as a challenge for myself. I'm extremely creative, but never explored the carpentry end of it. (I probably should have started a little smaller) lol In any event, I am following all of your direction, but on a much smaller scale as my living room could fit into yours about 2 times maybe 3. lol. i have a 65 inch tv and a 50 inch ts fireplace. I just love this design and how you and your family work together. Would love to attach a pic of how I am making out up to now, but I don't see a place we can upload attachments. I have to say...not too shabby thanks to your clear direction. All I can say is Thank God for Rewind , Pause and Play!!!!
Hey I do love seeing your patience with your kids! A lot of guys aren't capable of doing that! I got to say the wood working table you made is genius! I showed it to my boyfriend and he agreed that this world be perfect for his small garage. Do you have plans for this table?
Thx for the kind words.Oh my with covid 19 and 4 kids, its definitely a challenge getting school in order. Props to their teachers. I made a video about the work table. Just need to upload it.
Nicely done and I'm glad to see you used cement board for this. Do you have a video showing off your miter saw workbench? I liked that flush insert you have when the saw is not in use.
Awesome 👍I plan on making the same model. Can you provide the height dimensions of the TV and electric stove? Also, what did the child draw on the surface of the tiles? What role does it play?
Out of all fireplace videos, I like this one best. I'm definitely going to follow this one when I'm ready to build mine. By any chance do you have a video on that work bench? It's pretty neat
This is amazing!! So basic questions: 1. Did you remove the crown molding before putting up the framing? 2. how high is the hearth off the ground? 3. i would like to build something very similar but the stone veneer will only come up half way (so the stone will only be below the mantel beam). .. above the mantel beam, i want to mount a TV - should i just mount the TV directly into the wall studs? Also, how do i hide the wires in the wall and inside the mantel (behind the electric fireplace)?
Didn't have crown molding before. We had 2 ledger panel height plus quartz counter for height or about 14 inches. We have a pvc pipe behind the drywall for the wires to come down and hidden.
AMAZING!!! We will be using the same brand (not color) of stone for our build out. Did you build directly over the tile? I ask because we currently have carpet but will be replacing with tile and was wondering should I cut the carpet around it and set on the floor or just set it directly on the carpet? Thank you and Amazing Job!!!!!
Built directly over tile because it was level and solid. You could secure carpet w/ scrap wood to floor and attach fireplace frame to scrap wood to eliminate give.
@@CaliBoud So the front is 6" high--how deep is the shelf? 6" also? Our will be 72" wide but want to make sure we have wide and tall enough. Yours looks great.
Gotcha. The shelf uses a 6" x 10' pine board (really 5.5"). so 6" tall and 6" deep to get that bulky look. Good luck can't wait to see pictures of yours.
Thanks bro. There was no blue print but going forward there will be. I've been doing a lot of work with sketch up. Its really neat. The fireplace should have dimensions recommendations.
Great job!! On your hearth, I noticed you said it was 12” in height and about 18.5” from the fireplace. How far in total is it from the wall to the edge and from the 2x6 side frame to edge?
Congratulations that absolutely came out beautiful. One question did you by any chance make a video of how you build your tablesaw/miter saw work bench? It’s a really impressive bench and would love to build something similar.
Hi, thanks for the video. It looks great! How many inches did you allow between the top of the fireplace unit and the rock in order to install the face plate? Thanks
Great project! I am planning to buy the same firepace and start this project minus the Quartz . I have Vinyl flooring. Do you think I can build the frame on top of it , or should i cut it and place the frame lower? Thanks a bunch!
Thanks! I am following your guide and have built the frame/attached to wall. I ended up trimming the vinyl flooring around it . Did you build on top of tile that sits on concrete? Do you have a basement? I am building on a wood floor and have some concerns on the joists.I figured around 1600lbs of weight total😬 Lastly, are the framing 2x6 pieces in the middle 10 or 12in?The short ones used at the end. What about the horizontal ones? Thanks a bunch! Same fireplace is on order👍
@@alexandroid8654 That's a lot of questions haha. 1) built on top of tile 2) no basement 3) framing was entirely used 2 x 6 x 10. 4) we are in year 3 and it's been a conversation piece and a striking addition for any guests that swings by.
@@CaliBoud Thanks. Glad its holding great ,sure looks awesome. Last question for now :)I am wondering on the small 2x6 wood cut to reinforce the frame in the middle of the box. Are they about 10 inches? What about the horizontal ones? Oops that's 2 questions😆

Love this ! Great job !! Do you have a list of material you used for the frame and also dimensions ?

That's a lot of cuts. 2 x 6 x 10ft frame. 9ft hearth, 8 ft wraparound mantle.
Hey where did you purchase the stone and how much was everything to make this beautiful project..thank you
Msi stone at HD. Its pricey but its actual stone and not faux stone. $4k w/0 tv
I want to build this exact frame
Go for it. Have patience though. The end result is a complete masterpiece you've built yourself.
Can I please get a list of your material list?

1. Did you remove the crown molding before putting up the framing?
2. how high is the hearth off the ground?

Less than $6k which includes fireplace, soundbar and TV. Pre covid of course.
Love those kids

@@CaliBoud awesome yeah we have the same TV and I'm looking at the same size fire place we love what you did with it looks awesome
beautiful job. can you remove the fireplace if you have an issue with it or it needs to be serviced for some reason?
Yes, glass lifts up and out to access the 6 screws for removal.
How much was everything to make this beautiful project??
$4k without TV. Can't stress how beautiful and priceless it is when it's your own work. Do it and good luck!
Do you have materials list and dimensions?
Also, is that fireplace able to use the fireplace safety glass rocks/stones
No but future builds should have materials list. Didn't think anyone would want to try it. Yes on the glass rocks.
Looks awsome. What thickness of durarock did you use. 1/4 or 1/2 thick?
You want it thick. There's a lot of weight riding on it. Is 5/8 x3x5
Great job!! On your hearth, I noticed you said it was 12” in height and about 18.5” from the fireplace. How far in total is it from the wall to the edge and from the 2x6 side frame to edge?
24". Plenty of space for people's rear. The sides get used extensively for seasonal decor.
