No Phil, the intent behind gifted memberships is to give perks to the community and those people are more likely to continue their memberships by paying themselves thus growing the community in an organic way with a little help from the gifted memberships.. RUclips gives preference to people who are active in the community first but in the case of these insane member "bombs" its defeating the purpose RUclips has with the gifted memberships. Phil, you didnt have enough active people on your stream to benefit from the gifted member bombs. Heck one way RUclips can help prevent botting to receive member bombs is gifted memberships can only go to people who chat in your channel a certain amount of times and a certain amount of chat volleys. That way the memberships are going to actual active community members rather than what happens with Phil where there are 200 people on stream and 500 gifted memberships drop. Phil, there's nowhere for the gifted memberships to go. Unless you'd like to send Doody a gifted membership to your channel.
Heck I'd go a step farther, if a sub is obtained through a member bomb and that user is later banned from youtube or channel banned, that gifted membership is lost. No money for the streamer from that gifted sub. If you have a robust engaged community, then there should be no worry about this. But Phil's community is so toxic and full of bots that are later banned for botting, Phil would have reason to worry.
Another reason why Phil pushes for Paypal rather than youtube money. He's terrified that RUclips wont give him every cent he feels he's due.

I know I've been given memberships to other channels (not Phil related. I like watching airport livestream) and that gifted membership showing me the perks makes me want to join when my gifted membership is up. Channels giving discord access, merch discounts, content released for members only, and of coruse, fun emotes for the chat. Those are actual perks. Not "I want to support the streamer because I love him and I want to give him money"
