I usually watch videos of Yuzu's free skate or short programs on their own and I think he's amazing, but then when I watched this video and all of the skaters before and after him, that boy is something special. He is just in a league of his own...
Every time I watch other skaters I feel that. They can be good, they can perform certain movements beautifully but there is only one Yuzuru Hanyu. His body is so unique, so special, nobody can get even close to him. He was indeed born for figure skating! 😎

This was hands down the best worlds Yuzuru blessing us with the choreographic masterpiece that is let’s go crazy and, despite the mistake on the combo, performing the hell out of it. This program is just one continuous stream of highlights: That 4Lo at the beginning, unmatched in quality, height and flow. Beautiful transitions galore. That high kick after the axel! The crazy knee slide at the end! His murder gaze, staring at the judges! That final combo spin fitting the climax of the music SO well. Don’t even get me started on the purple pants - this is what commitment looks like Also here for Javi delivering the short of his career with the perfection that is Malaguena and Patrick finally breaking 100 with his wonderful, soft Beatles medley
Oh God, this competition... Yuzu popped his 4S-3T combo and ended up 5th overall. His closest friend and competitor (Javi) with a 10 pt lead. He seems so disappointed with himself at 4:47:00 and even his coach didn't know what they deducted him for. He wants to cry but smiled anyway 😭😭😭. The only time he lets people see him cry is when he wins. The pressure this boy must've been under for his free skate. Can you imagine? He is so afraid of disappointing his fans. He's also worked so hard for this and winning after the 1st place competitor has a 10 point lead is nothing short of miraculous in figure skating. And he did it anyway!!!
I wish older competitions would be uploaded as well! Watching all skaters of the competition is so much more entertaining than just see individual skates.
Rest in peace to Denis Ten. A true warrior. What u went through in your final moments is so devastating. It makes me so sad & angry. Especially the fact that it happened in your home country. We will remember you forever. Fly high 🕊
@@Seungminiminiverse it really is due to the time wasted. One of the rules I believe. Once the skater got introduce they only have 30 secs to be in their place and be ready. Yuzu spent 33 seconds I think. That's why. :(
@@blueflower711 I heard from a CBC commentary on this competition that previously skater who skate first after 6min warm-up usually get 5/10 seconds extra (I don't remember correctly), but apparently they had change the rule and Yuzu didn't know about it . So then he took time more than he realized was allowed. Just mere 3 seconds 🙄
I watched many times of Yuzuru’s performance and others‘ too of the last group, still feel Hanyu‘s score was very under given, but I am so glad that he skated perfectly in the long program and won the champion，even though he deserves more points to my view. So happy to see he still won。

Worlds men figure skating championship 2017 had the most interesting top 10 skaters. Patrick, Javier, Yuzuru, Shoma, Boyang, Nathan were all medal contenders. Worlds 2018: Yuzuru did not participate due to ankle injury, Javier and Patrick basically retired. Shoma Uno skated injured. Nathan was the only contender basically. Worlds 2019 was basically Nathan vs injured (again) Yuzuru. Worlds 2020: Not found

Can I say this was the best WC within 5 recent years? Just, for example, look at the slow-motion of Boyang Jin's 4Lz, the deep edge of Patrick Chan, and more...
They are judging him as if it's a horse race and he's the best so he gets a handicap before even skating. In 2021 it's much worse, still handicapping him and promoting Nathan Chen. The ISU judges for sure. If he wins a 3rd Gold at the Olympics next year that will be Awesome. Then he can retire knowing he's raised the bar and will always be the best! Not a skating gymnast but the best figure skater EVER!!!
It's such a shame that Yuzu could never skate LGC clean in competition. This short program has it all. The quality of every element, transition and expression is extra class.
@@ElanovaAutumn Yeah, this mistake was much more costly on the scoresheet than it actually looked on the ice. But at the end of the day Yuzu's skating had such a great quality in both segments that he was unrobbable of his second world title :D

The ending spin and the standing ovation for Misha Ge is such a great moment. I did not know this moment until now because I was focusing on the better technicians but this may be the most beautiful program of the night.

The final flight was a delight, I almost feel it is bad to talk about a favorite - all were masterful, each in their own unique way. Having said that, the artistry of Javi’s program was second to none. Patrick was sublime and so was Shoma and Jason. A shame that Yuzus program wasn’t as sublime as his other shorts in past years. This was without a doubt for me the last exciting final flight we have had since.
The last group of men? Just astounding skating... legendary... and the Quads were worth more but the skating skills of all of the men.... least charismatic-Kovtun. Hanyu, Fernandez, Chen, Brown, Chan, Just breathtaking! Thank you ISU.
