Sigh, while I really want to enjoy these performances, as any performances of the Chopin-Godowsky studies should be cherished, I just don’t love these. Delucchi clearly has the technical capability, but his voicing is really *really* lackluster, along with mainly other coloring/textural elements. It ends up making a lot of these studies sound clunky (the B section of the two-handed version of Op.25 No.3 is a notable example). Overall, he just needs to know when to keep the background in the background.
The op 25 no 12 and no 5 mazurka study I find to to sound better than the other recordings I've found on youtube, personally, but I haven't listened closely to many others to compare.
@@bbbmm1810 The man himself! Thank you for recording these monumental works. I'd love to hear your next recording, though won't blame you if you don't want to take another crack at it!
I agree. I might add that often the tempo is not good (too slow) and too metronomic. I do not think the making music on the piano is just playing the notes in "written time", it requires a lot more than that. That is a strong trend in general and here especially. I'm very sorry. I wish the artist to grow as a musician and to re-record those études with another approach.
You know nothing about these composers. The first concert version of Liszt's Transcendental Studies (the Douze Grandes Etudes), before he thinned them out, are easily as difficult as the Godowsky works, if not more difficult. The early pieces like La Muette de Portici and Rondeau Fantastique are extremely demanding and rival anything Godowsky wrote. Do research before spouting rubbish.
@@EliasCohen881 It is just because you don't like Godowsky way of destroying Chopin's originality of his etudes. I can understand where you are coming from.

こんなふうに演奏するショパンを聴いたのは初めてです。どんな演奏でも、ショパンは素晴らしい❗もちろんピアニストも。有り難うございました。
Thank you very much. You have made my day.But still struggling on how to begin on these insane studies !!!
Wonderful 🤗💞
Awesome!
Brilliant!
absolutely!
The ending for Wrong Notes ~ 49:26 sounds better than the original!
I consider this virtuoso dementia! Both writing and playing them.
However it is great to know them, and without Brilliant we wouldn’t! So thanks 🙏

So great this upload!! But why putting the three etudes in the beginning?
Best like to dislike ratio I’ve seen in a while - well deserved

Anyone knows the history of the missing no. 37?

And when you are done learning this simple stuff, you can try his paraphrase on Strauss' Die Fledermaus or his Passacaglia & Fugue. lol
Didn't Maestro Hamelin himself say that Ignis Fatuus is the hardest of the whole set??

@@EliasCohen881 I think you haven't even study the score andamake any attempt of playing any of them before making your comment.
The last one is in c minor not c# minor
The Chopin version is in c minor but the Godowsky is in c# minor.
@@hida7962 really? I didnt know that, thank yku
@@xmedian003x9 Yeah, the Godowsky version would be nearly impossible if it were written in c minor.
I wonder: did Artur Rubenstein ever play these?
I think he never like these.
He questioned Godowsky on many occasions about these studies.
Well I totally agree...while I enjoy transcriptions in general, some just don't do it for me, and these fit that group.
Thanks for that history, the very info I hoped for. Any record of their discussion? Thanks
