  • The very popular form factor created by Poly (formerly Plantronics Voyager 510, then Voyager Legend, and finally Voyager 5200) is now available in the Yealink BH71 Series, and Jabra Perform 45. This video briefly overviews the similarities and differences between the Poly Voyager 5200, Yealink BH71, and Jabra Perform 45. While they share the same form factor, there are differences in price, talk time, IP Rating, Bluetooth version, weight, speaker audio performance, and connectivity. But how do the mics compare? We test the mic against various background noises, including open office, vacuum cleaner, chickens, baby crying, barking dogs, and blender! Many years, and still no one can beat Poly 5200... 😊 I think that Poly needs to create new version and leave competitors far back :-)

    I swore by the Plantronics / Poly UC5200 headsets for years, but in the last 2-3 years they've changed something in the internal hardware and they're now unusable outdoors in the wintertime.
    Once the temperature drops the microphone quality becomes so poor people can't hear what I'm saying and I frequently have to turn off bluetooth and hold the phone to my head instead.
    It's a shame because these have been my go-to headset for nearly a decade, but I'm here looking for alternatives as they're just no longer a viable option. I found this morning I can't even use my 5200 in the car on a cold morning.

      You're not the first to mention that. I keep meaning to ask for Poly branded version. I still have my original "Plantronics" branded Voyager 5200 UC, which still works great after all these years. The only other comparable option is the Yealink BH71. The versions from Jabra and Blueparrott don't perform as well as the Poly Voyager 5200 UC or Yealink BH71. And Yealink continues to make improvements. I'll see if I can get a new Poly Voyage 5200 UC. Thanks for watching and supporting our channel!

    Thank you for your review. It's always nice to watch! It's a pity, when choosing a headset, you have to sacrifice something. I was already glad that I finally found a headset for my phone, but I didn’t notice the usb connection... Are there similar high-quality Bluetooth headsets, but for a smartphone?

      Hi @user-km4pk3ze5z! These headsets are all UC Bluetooth headsets that will connect/pair to your computer via USB dongle and your mobile phone / smartphone via Bluetooth.

    I've had to contact I.T. help to troubleshoot a problem in a server room, and that literally sounded like being next to a blender. I didn't have noise cancelling headphones at the time, so I had to walk away, talk, then come back. This was an exceptionally noisy server room. Noise cancelling headphones may not have been enough. I couldn't hear a single thing using my phone with no headphones. The Voyager 5200 did a fine job with the blender in your video.

      Hi Mathew! Thanks so much for sharing your personal experience and feedback. Yes, the Voyager 5200 has a fine NC mic however, you may want to consider the Poly Voyager Focus 2 for the scenario you described as they have ANC speakers to help suppress the server room noise you hear plus it has the same mic as the Voyager 5200.

      Thanks for the tip @CallOneInc. I bought a Focus 2 for some home-office/I.T. remote assistance work last year. I just bought, but haven't yet received the Voyager 5200 for work at client premises, as I needed something compact with a case that will protect it from damage so I can put it in a toolbag. Just wish the mics were a bit longer on these models. Some also have a flexible steel mic that would be more durable in away from the desk work. And I think the ANC is broken on my Focus 2, it does nothing in my perception to block out my noisy air-conditioner, and it sounds the same, bar a slight hiss sometimes when it's on as when it's off, although it still works fine as a basic headset with a mic that gives a natural-sounding voice, quite decent speakers, and comfort. There's a KB article that says to reset the headset sensors, 'power on your headset while pressing the Mute button for more than 4 seconds until the LEDs flash purple 4 times'. I did that, but the purple light only flashed once then became blue.

    Great info. Im seeing this after ordering the 5200 voyager. Im having trouble keeping the eartip in my ear. I've tried all sizes enclosed with it. I work in an industrial setting, kinda like being in your bathroom with a vacuum cleaner running. So I need a eartip that will stay in my ear. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.

      @CallOneInc  8 месяцев назад

      Hi Jeffery! Thanks for watching and submitting your question! This is tough. Poly, Yealink, and Jabra all make different sized eartips and include them in the box. They don't make any larger sizes. If you have tried all the sizes, and still experiences challenges keeping your ear, the only suggestion I have is to use the one that stays in the longest. The Poly Voyager 5200 is a solid performer in noisy environments. I'll reach out to now HP | Poly to see if they have any other suggestions.

      The EPOS Impact 1000 Series have one of the best NC mics I’ve tested. They are available with or without ANC speakers, single or dual ear, with or without a charging stand, and UC and Teams certified variants. Check it out Is This the Best Headset Mic I've Ever Tested? why does non of the reviews tell us how good is the hearing quality of the person I am talking to? background noise also effects ME the one with the headset, so how is the listening quality on these? I want to be able to hear clearly the other person with office noise. Kindly share your thoughts

    • @CallOneInc
      @CallOneInc  10 месяцев назад +3

      Hi sam t, great question. I will share my thoughts based on my tests and my hearing profile. However, please note, hearing is very subjective based on individual hearing profiles. Many people walk around with hearing deficiencies and are unaware. If I had to rank speaker audio performance:
      1. Poly Voyager 5200 sounded the loudest and clear
      2. Yealink BH71 sounded good but I felt the Poly sounded louder and better.
      3. Jabra Perform 45 speaker performance was ok. The Poly and Yealink performed better
      I hope this helps.

    I've had a Plantronics 5200 for years then lost it, I've tried 3 "Poly" 5200's they all drop words as you are talking, Poly/HP ruined the legion DO NOT BUY THE "POLY" 5200

    • @CallOneInc
      @CallOneInc  7 месяцев назад +1

      Hi Ray! Interesting. I haven't received a "Poly" branded Voyager 5200. I'm still using my original Plantronics branded Voyager 5200 and it keeps on ticking. I'll have to see if I can get my hands on a Poly branded version and do a side by side comparison. Thanks for watching and sharing your feedback.

      @@CallOneInc In my experience the change happened just before Poly took over. Most of the time they still work perfectly, but in cold weather the microphone quality falls off a cliff. It's a frequenty complaint nowdays in the forums.
