Well done guys! Nice thorough review. Can you please share the settings that you prefer or tested there are many options and important to know what was used for noise canceling ANC and Transparency settings. Also sensors on/off? Specifically liked the comparisons. I look at sound quality for calls first but music/media 2nd. Essentially dynamics for music Bass/Treble but most importantly business calls for professional virtual noise canceling mic proximity sensing for clear professional reliable call quality voice/volume/environment. I look forward to hearing your settings feedback response. Thanks again!

I have these and the tip to get the best sound quality and bass is using the right size tips AND proper fitting in them on your ear. These don't stuff down into the ear canal. Instead the rest on the inner ear and just seal the outer canal (the bass quality comes here). The longer mic boom should be laying in the part of the ear called the Intertragic Notch. This will point the mic boom directly at your mouth, which you are instructed to do in the manual. This also causes the earbud to have a 'resting place' that is stable and prevents it from falling out of the ear. This placement along with making sure that actual bud tip fills the outer canal and makes a seal, gives you the best sound quality and bass. It is extremely comfortable for all day wear. I'm in the field most of the day and have no issue wearing these, fitted as stated, the entire work day and beyond. I highly recommend these. Take time to learn how to fit them in your ear properly and I'm sure they will become your favorite and best pair of earbuds you have.

    a few questions:
-Can you dig into more about that last piece about choosing UC vs Teams compatibility?
-When covering these devices that have a USB dongle can you detail that a bit more, like when they are just a bluetooth dongle like what comes with the Skokz UC vs something like the Lightspeed dongle that comes with something like the Logitech G Fits, essentialy when it is just BT or 2.4 Ghz

    • @HeadsetAdvisor

      Thanks for watching!
      1. You can see the in depth difference of UC vs Teams here ruclips.net/video/f5AOrz8Exts/видео.html but to keep it simple, if you strictly use Microsoft Teams and cant download software, go with the Teams version. Everything else go UC.
      2. The main advantage of the USB Dongle is when connecting to your computer you get advanced features with compatible software like Teams (press a button to answer from the earbuds, mute indicator in your meeting app), longer wireless range and improved reliability to your computer vs connecting a headset directly to your computer with Bluetooth.

Great review. Thanks. I wanted to ask one question, which would help me decide whether to get the one with the screen on the case. Does the LED screen on the case give you the ability to mute/unmute your Microsoft Teams call? That would be the only reason for me to buy the plus edition. After returning both the Sony Linkbuds S and the Jabra Elite 5, I ordered the Free 60+ and have had them about 48 hours so far. Build quality is great, but I'm really disappointed with both the ANC and the mic noise suppression during calls. (I bounce from Teams on PC to Android all day) I have 3 other Plantronics products (5200, Focus UC, 8200) and they're all nearly flawless with regard to call quality, but these earbuds aren't even close to that level of performance. Honestly, they both sound bad. We knew that for the Apple ones but I am bored listening to new models coming out and sounding like we're in 2010. Or maybe your sound tests "show" them as bad? I don't want to believe that but when I got my Poly 5200, my recorded sound tests "sounded" on PC better to my ears. I make around 30 phone business calls a day using the 5200. The device is good, with respectable sound and great functionality too. I make so many calls a day that I don't mind even spending 500-1000 dollars in order to get the best device for my work. But there isn't one unfortunately, at least as far as I know (that's why I am writing this pointless comment). Which device sounds better with the same profile as the 5200 which i) sounds good, ii) is small and not a clunky headset, iii) can be worn and removed in 1-2 seconds, iv) has great functionality on aswering calls etc? I don't even care about the price. Can't someone create a better Poly 5200? Thank you for the review though, you guys really seem to like your job.

I’ve tried everything and it’s pretty incredible the sound you can get having a mic right next to your mouth. For wireless I like the shokz opencomm. 5200 is very old tech that has not been updated…not a hint they are planning an upgrade. Great headsets just ended once Polymetrics/Poly was bought and merged.
Add challenges of secure communications, it just is too depressing. Spend $500 for a product or have crappy experience - not that $500 guarantees a great or even a good experience.
I have a lot of headsets and they all have issues - comfort, noise cancelling/microphone, speaker clarity (we need to be able to block out the person next to us as well as the person on the other end), and battery life. Shouldn’t be impossible after all these years of tech.
      Very discouraging.

I couldn't easily find the UC variant in Greece, but I have a pretty expensive Bluetooth chipset, so hopefully I won't be facing any problems. I really like the idea of my ears being free. All the headsets get annoying after some time plus the a little bit better mic is going to be a plus. Thanks for the honest feedback! Listening back, you're right it seems we may have messed up the volume level of music on this video 😭

@@HeadsetAdvisor Thanks for listening. I often leave comments that might sometimes sound like criticism, but the truth is that I often love the content but feel that the videos could do better if the creators adjusted a few things a little. Just trying to help :-)

I don't like that you always compare with Apple AirPods not the Airpods Pro 2. This is what it is competing with and it makes no sense to not compare it with Apple Airpods Pro 2.

Thanks for the review. You convinced me not to try them.
For 3+ years, I've been searching for a suitable replacement for my Plantronics Voyager Edge (last produced ~2017). I am so disappointed this is the best Poly could do. To be fair, I've not tried the Free 60, but from your review and the comments:
    For starters:
    - the case is too big. The Edge AND it's charging case fit in a shirt pocket with room to spare for a pair of reading glasses.
Is the case for the base model (sans touch-screen and USB-receiver slot) any smaller? My notebooks all have bluetooth, so I don't really care about a dedicated USB receiver. Plus, a stand-alone USB BT adapter is like ~$20.
    - As others have asked, why compare to to AirPods, who's users are primarily concerned with music?
If this is for business users, we need a direct comparison with the 5200, and if you can find one, a Plantronics Voyager Edge. According to @someguynj, the call quality doesn't measure up. Perhaps update your review with more appropriate competition.
I've tried the 5200. It works well, but it is too big for my use. The case is nearly the size of a phone. Where am I going to put it between calls? I had two Bose Bluetooth Headset Series 2. That was ten years ago, yet, they were smaller and had great call quality. Only problem was, without a charging case, it was tiny, easy to loose, or send through the wash.

Great feedback and comments. We did a blind headset test and the results video will come out shortly all earbuds we’re towards the bottom of voice quality and noise cancellation. Of the earbuds Voyager free tested best. Always use the included dongle as it will allow firmware updates, adjust settings on pc, integrate with platforms like teams, zoom, ringcentral, etc answer/end calls, mute and unmute etc.
The only other model to consider is the Yealink BH71 has better mic and noise cancellation and has a smaller case than the 5200.

The Mic quality is far away compared with 5200,ANC is just so normal, not recommend。

Hi @headset_advisor, I got free 60+ and the call quality not the same as in the video even everyone is complaining from the background noise. Is this means that there is something wrong with the piece I got? So I should return them?

Our tests were done through the computer with the USB dongle connected, so not sure you’re exact setup but in either case the microphone noise cancellation for any earbuds we’ve tested isn’t the best.

@HeadsetAdvisor thanks for the reply, my setup is via Bluetooth on my smartphone. I still didn't try them on my computer. Can you make a test using smartphone? And even I have more concern, which is the earpiece is taking time to connect to the phone. Is this considered as an issue as well?

@@tortaw1 it sounds like you need good microphone noise cancellation, if so earbuds aren’t the best way to go and the performance may disappoint you. That being said, if you have iPhone or android there’s a setting called voice isolation or noise suppression you can turn on in your phone.
The earpieces once paired to your mobile phone should connect almost instantly.
