    I've been to Poros on Kefalonia twice but did not take a rod the first time which was idyllic snorkelling. I saw a lot of fish which was at the end of a long sandy track where a local was on his hammock! A remote circular house on a headland with lovely people but I wish I could have spoken Greek better then than I could later on in our travels. We cut a trip short in Crete and because of a free passage to Kefalonia and made a terrible mistake it was stormy the whole week. The harbourmaster said Winter had come a month early so I never got to launch the boat I was towing once!
    Later years in Crete we experienced some great fishing between the two northern peninsula's ( paradise) with the local tuna and Dolphin fish which the locals call 'Lambuko' --- I may have misspelled that! My wife caught the first one (beginner's luck?) She said something's pulling the line so-----I said pull it back then!
    If the local style of Paragadi continues I don't think there will be many big fish caught in future years because whatever the size of fish ( the ones I would put back) if the hook is swallowed that fish is dead. Then again it IS at least eaten in soup.
    I found any toby works well but the locals find plug baits good but in hindsight live bait would probably be the best as a mackerel is for a bass in the UK.

    Είμαι από την Nafpakto, και μόνο πιάνο τσιπούρες και λαβράκι. That’s a great catch! On the islands are fish caught more frequently?

    αναρωτιέμαι πως η παραμάνα μένει στη θέση της...πολύ ρίσκο Ηλία να χρησιμοποιείς παραμάνα με τέτοιο μέγεθος ψαριών. Χορταστικό το βίντεο.

    Hello love the vid mate. From the U.K. heading the kefolonia in June is there much chance of catching many of these or anything really ? I do loads of pike lure fishing and have heavy casting rods with deep spools to throw these pencil lures out a long way. Any tips for where to look? Thanks

    Hoping to sail around the south Ionian and Kefalonia in August so able to do some trolling during the day and maybe spinning off the boat early evening. Any tips for lures or one of your other techniques at that time of year?

    • @EliasVassiliou
      @EliasVassiliou  4 года назад +1

      that sounds like a lot of fun... i would troll with one top water lure, and one a few meters deep...

      @@dabbyhill A diving pal of mine became a master mariner and brought big yachts from the Greek Islands to the Canaries for years until they started shipping them wholesale on ferries. I was having a natter to him and told him I had caught a few dolphin fish in Crete with a toby spinner. He said just a minute and produced a photo with a nice dolphin fish he caught with waht he described as a rubber thing ! I suppose it could have been either a squid or an eel.... I don't think it would matter much as regards the lure effect of either and especially in 'open water'.
      As time has gone on there are some very lifelike indeed fish representing lures in very soft rubber which saves catching livebait.
      I used to catch salmon when no one at the Scottish Hotel 'had a sniff' on a plastic object that was crossed between a prawn and a shrimp. It was quite legal at that time due to it having bucktail in its dressing as whiskers. It was a very big treble but that made no difference to the salmon!
