- In this video I take you through 10 bands from Australia that I think are underrated. I'd love to see in the comments more bands from Australia that you think are underrated or under appreciated.
Great list! The Drones are the #1 band that I hear people repping as underrated!

Love what you're doing mate! I do think you could dig a little deeper though. Most of these bands were big triple J bands and are from the 2000s. The Drones may not have been big on JJJ but have cult followings around the world, reviewed by the Needle drop and have a huge amount of awards.
I thought I might have seen some Snowman, Radio birdman, Hatchie, Pond, Jack Ladder, Jen Cloher.
Would love to discover something new through the RUclips medium. Haven't seen anyone doing a channel like this with Australian music. I think you're onto something and you definitely have my subscription.

Agreed with many of these, particularly the Panics. Richard Kingsmill thought Sleeps Like A Curse was his album of the year.
I’d also add the Sleepy Jackson. They did some US talk shows and had a really interesting second album, I was very disappointed when 2023 came and went and there was no 20 year anniversary acknowledgement of Lovers, great record. They were awesome live too.
Love the channel mate. Love seeing so much Aussie music being discussed, and introduced to me. My pick is Gyroscope from Perth. They're known, but I reckon nowhere near enough. Absolutely brilliant rock band.
I remember my band (Squire) playing with the Panics early on . I’m waiting to see if Even is in this list
More people should know about The Fauves, Custard, and Eskimo Joe. Great bands with excellent songs

I'd add Children Collide to this list as well. Couple of pretty well known songs, and incredible energy live.
Nice list, two bands from the early 90's that I still love today, and I wish they would get some recognition these days are the Falling Joys and the Clouds.
For me, the most underrated band I know happens to be Australian. Console Warriors. Between 2011 and 2013, they released 7 songs and nothing else. They could have been so big, but they didn't exist long enough for anyone to pick them up. Please check them out - they just have that X factor, I can't explain it.
A great list...Great to see the Panics on there. I saw the downstairs at the then Norfolk a few times (later Aardvark now closed 😢) some 15 - 20 years ago. There were 6 people there and they were from the other bands 😔. I think they suffered from their first album being by far their best. I just ordered it on vinyl! So many underrated Perth bands Kill Devil Hills, Carla Geneve, Downsyde should be massive. I'd add the Southern River Band. I saw them last night at the Guildford Arms. As always - it was incredible but 1/3 of the crowd left after support band the Floors. There's a bit of alternative snootery (tall poppy syndrome for alt music snobs) that happens in Perth. It gets a bit tiring. Maybe it's why so few Perth bands have gone global. Keep up the videos coming!

The Sleepy Jackson were very much under rated. Both albums are fantastic, such amazing art rock.
Something With Numbers and Faker would be up there.
Machinations - should have been on the world stage with the likes of Simple Minds, Thompson Twins, Spandau Ballet etc, etc

Have heard of Something for Kate, The Panics, TISM, Cog, Kisschasy and Karnivool the rest do seem a bit interesting.

I was gonna say the Drones too. I See Seaweed is a 9 minute monster of a song. Also love tropical fuck storm.
Hiatus Kaiyote represent. They are popular here it's just that NEO soul is not a big genre here. And it is still rather niche globally too. But those that know are hella dedicated fans.
Cannot fault your choices, even though i feel that tism was probably a little too well known to be underrated.
The only suggestion i will make, going forwards,is to say the name of the band, it was sometimes hard to catch the name of the band as it flashed on screen,
Apart from that, good job, need to see more aussie music reviewers on RUclips

Punk band - ARSE, The Motherlode
If they don’t make your top 30 Aussie bands Boom Crash Opera have to be considered one of the 10 most underrated

I wasn't aware that Karnivool were Aussies. My suggestion for underrated band would be The Butterfly Effect.

Agamous Betty is seriously underrated (on band camp) check out ‘Raw Meat’ or ‘My Heart is a Cherry Tree’ or ‘Savant Syndrome’. Drew Woolley also has the song ‘Hollow Betty’. The name derives from asexual plants that self reproduce and fighter jets. Can’t go wrong.

Monolounge is a great Aussie band that literally nobody knows
