Right? it was not even star wars lmao the poor client. If someone orders something from you and you don’t know anything about it, google it. the least she could do was add some resistance emblems or something.
Kinda wish these decorators would do a square or rectangle cake, I would love to see different techniques but they seem to all be round (except for like 1 heart)
As a baker, there’s definitely a reason they’re all round. Square cakes are hard, primarily because of corners, and they’re harder to cut, so people don’t order them as often. However, they are super fun! (To make and to watch)
Hey... at 2:59, they make flower decorations out of icing if I am correct. If anyone has made these before, please comment the recipe I'd like to make some for a cake...
I would recommend a Swiss buttercream or French and freeze it if you want the taste but if you don’t care if it tastes more like butter then buttercream then American buttercream is thick. Still recommend freezing it
I usually cut that one layer of cake into four layers. I mean who eats cake with so little Frosting? Also here most bakers use whipped cream frosting cuz it's light and fluffy. Buttercream frosting is used only for heavier cakes. Like wedding ones.
You can always find substitutes and combinations that will cost less and still be delicious nonetheless! Just start doing what you want to do cause cake decorating is fun but it also needs some time to practice and get perfect results
@@he11o_life it's not that, it's having to buy pans for baking, something to spin the cake so that frosting it is easier, a scraper, etc. I'll probably just decorate cakes when I get a job.
They apply a crumb coat first! It’s a thin layer of buttercream first and then smooth it out and pop it in the fridge for a little while. This should lock in all the crumbs. After that you just add the rest of the icing as usual and it should be crumb free so it’s more visually appealing and easier to decorate.
A real time saver and a way I like to flat ice a cake is using a flat icing tip (at least that’s what I call it but Wiltons sells it as “Cake icer tip”) and a scraper
Are cakes in the USA really this simple/boring? Like just the cake sponge and frosting. No jam, no cream, no fruit, no caramel. Where i live cakes have diferent kinds of layers, so this seems kind of meh.
So all these home bakers just in their kitchens getting orders….you don’t need a commercial kitchen to sell on the caliber they are? No hate…do you need a license or anything to do it at home?
no many people who are bakers start at home making stuff in their own kitchen until they build up a reliable client base. No license needed unless you want to turn it into a real business. If it's just a hobby, there's no real need i don't think
@@stormwright8300 I’m gonna have to look it up. I thought with selling consumable things, you need to use a commercial kitchen. Don’t know where I heard that or how that got into my head. Just like how people who serve alcohol have to be licensed, food prep and storage needs to be regulated also?

@@Ask571986 yeah np! it's funny, i've never thought of it as at all under the table - i suppose it just depends on where the line is drawn in the law; does a license become necessary when money becomes involved, or only when an official business becomes involved? but same here - as you can possibly tell, i have no real interest in the actual word of the law. i would do no research, get caught for committing crimes i didn't know existed, then get arrested. ideal.
Just you, they obviously clean their hands VERY well. And for me I can’t do cake as well with gloves for some reason. (Sorry if this comes off as rude I’m not trying to be)
At my job we wear snug gloves and hairnets, but since these decorators seem independent I guess their standards are different. But I do think they should to avoid any chance of food born illnesses

you just have to make a thick royal icing

Swiss buttercream makes the smoothest piped flowers!

Why did the second video sound like a 5 year old was narrarating

Normal cake for me is without frosting. Frosting is just an extra.
I want to get into decorating cakes but I'm afraid the supplies I'll need will be too expensive :/
