  • Robert Brubaker was raised in Johnstown, Pennsylvania. Brubaker enlisted to join the Army Air Corps. He attended navigation school in Monroe, Louisiana. He was assigned to be the navigator for crew #55, 570th squadron, 390th Bomb Group at the air base located at Framlingham, England. Brubaker flew 35 combat missions. Brubaker's interview includes descriptions of his missions including a forced landing at a fighter strip in Belgium that had been captured by the Free Polish Air Force that morning. On another mission, his crew got credit for shooting down a German Jet (ME262).

    My dad was a navigator Bomb aimer with the RAF on a B 25 and B26 Flew from Italy to Yugoslavia bombing railways

    Great interview, brave man. I knew Louis Gavazoni, who had Keystone shoe store in Johnstown.
