    I found this one more challenging! But I had a lot of interruptions...care and feeding of one husband, three cats, and four dogs...plus everything else. I had to do a lot of frogging, BUT I finally finished it today!!! It looks beautiful, but mine will need blocking. I can't wait to see this blanket when it is done!!!❣😊

    Hi, I knit as well as crochet. Learning Tunisian is something I have wanted to learn so, i am so excited to find your tutorials for 2022 calendar blanket or afghan. I am doing the sample to get comfortable with these stitches. They are like purl and knitted stitches. Now to start this new square. Thank you so much Jada for your tutorials and all that you as well as Mr InStitches do for us. You both inspire me so much. Thanks again. Have a great day. Happy crocheting.

    I find Tunisia crochet very confusing but keep giving it a go. It did not help when I got the giggles half way through the first row wondering how many mouths were wide open or clenching a tongue , drooling whilst trying to get the stitches right. LOL I am determined to succeed. i can manage 10 stitches at a time on a crochet hook but I hold the hook English style, I think that is why I find it so difficult.And boy are these tunisian needles long lol.

    • @JaydaInStitches
      @JaydaInStitches  2 года назад

      It definitely takes practice! I'm still fiddling with how to hold the hook myself 😁

    Jada, I thought you'd enjoy this story. I'm working on this square and it's slow going, so I started a Double Stitch one. At the beginning of any project I speak out loud as if I am doing a tutorial. Well the plastic part at the end of my hook fell off and boy oh boy do I have some editing to do! Thank goodness for Super Glue! I don't know any one else that crochet's, so your the only person who would get this story! Ha! I bet you have lots of funny editing stories. The Glue should be dry, back to work! A most enjoyable job I will add!

    I am very new to Tunisian crochet and I am loving your tutorials on the subject. I have done the January square but have to redo it because my stitches were too tight. It made a great practice piece. I have had to restart February's square 7 times trying to figure out the correct hook for me (6.5mm/K/US 10.5), but it is worth it. These work up so quickly. I have a lot of siblings (5) and their spouses (4) and several nephews (3) so this will make blanket making so much faster.
    I noticed in some of the comments that some people had a bit of trouble keeping track of their rows and I would like to share my solution. I connected a stitch counter to the starting tail using a slip knot. When I finish the reverse pass I changed the number and because it is attached to the project I don't lose it. I hope someone finds that helpful. I took a picture, but I don't know how to share it here.

    Could this be made into an afghan? How many cast on stitches for a nice size throw? Love your tutorials.

    • @JaydaInStitches
      @JaydaInStitches  Год назад

      Absolutely! Cast on would depend on the yarn/hook size and how wide you wanted it. If you're not using cables on your Tunisian hooks then making it modularly (like this square) might be a good option, plus it wouldn't be so heavy. This square is approx 11.5" wide over 32 sts.

    It's 4:20 am here. I was just thinking - how do I make these squares into a winter ""keep me warm and the heat down" sweater to wear around the house? Will 12 squares be enough? I think so, but I've never done anything like that before so am not sure. I've got afghans/blankets coming out my ears so I have plenty to cover up with.

    • @JaydaInStitches
      @JaydaInStitches  2 года назад +1

      Hi Roxana! Hmmm, that depends on the size of the squares overall - if you use them this size (let's say they work out to be 12") then 4 on the front (is 24 x 24) and the same on the back...that's 8, then 2 for each arm, that's 12. You can add extra stitching to the sleeves once you have it all put together!

    Well, I’m not thrilled by Tunisian stitches in general. They are complicated and not always pretty, in my opinion. I’d rather knit. But I’d really rather just crochet. Plus, it’s already too thick and static to wear any of this in Texas. We have summer for about six months of the year, lol. So, Jayda, I’ll watch a bit of it, but for the most part, I’ve been looking at your baby blankets and accessories from previous years.

    • @JaydaInStitches

      Hi Eleanor, I haven't found a plastic Tunisian hook yet, but if they make really large ones (8 mm or higher) the may make them in plastic in order for them to feel lighter. But the length of the hook usually requires that the hook have strength, more so than an average crochet hook. Have you googled it by any chance?

    • @BS-ig7mj
      @BS-ig7mj 2 года назад +2

      Hi, I had the same (with 52 stitches) and it comes out really nice. You'll just end with two purl stitches instead of two knit stitches. Greetings from germany ;-)

    • @JaydaInStitches
      @JaydaInStitches  2 года назад +1

      Hi Shonda! Since these squares are mainly for practice, don't sweat it 😊 Your pattern will work out beautifully, it will just have an extra column of purl (which is still the ribbed stitch!). Stick to the same stitch count 💗

  • @Karen822
    @Karen822 2 года назад

    Jayda, I this one! It also seems to go very fast because we're basically counting by 2 going purl purrl, knit knit. I have a question. I'm sure I could just Google this, but how wide of a piece can you make with a Tunisian hook? I'm thinking about making a blanket out of this stitch! But you know me. I'll probably just start with a gift bag 1st. 😄 Since I've never gone wider than the 38 stitches, but there's always space left on the hook if you just push them down, I wonder how many more you fit on the hook? I guess I should just try it and see!

    • @JaydaInStitches
      @JaydaInStitches  2 года назад +1

      Hi Karen! If you want to go REALLY wide, you might want to consider getting one of those Tunisian Hooks with a wire attached. You can make blankets and sweaters on those 😁 On a regular Tunisian hook (they also come in different lengths) I guess you can use as many stitches as you feel you can handle on it. If you're ok controlling a lot (with some bunching up under your hands) you can get quite a wide piece going!
