I can so relate to this: My first horse, also named Lady, also a bay mare...I had to sell her only a year after getting her, but that was literally the best year of my life. I rode her every day that there was not ice on the road or I wasn't sick in bed. Just spending time with her, not necessarily riding, was so great. I knew every inch of her hide, every little twitch of her ears...and when I 'ran across' her several years later, recognized her from a distance as she stood in a paddock on the edge of the city. I just watched her for a time and she abruptly raised her head, scenting and watched back. When I called her by name, she immediately nickered and stepped along the fence. She knew me as well as I knew her. Wow, I'm so glad this horse found her way back to the right place!
How lucky!!! I had 2 stolen from me in Albuquerque that I never got to see again. I couldn't get any help on one because she wasn't registered or if she ever was, her papers didn't follow her to me, she was a chestnut Arabian I rescued. The other was my bay thoroughbred gelding I had shipped from San Diego when I moved to Albuquerque. He was registered and to this day I still have his papers. It's been almost 20 years now, I know I'll never see either of them again. I am so happy for this reunion and the fact that it occurred. Very touching and thank goodness Lady is healthy just hungry.
I don't know who would steal a horse, but someone stole my goats once. They did bring her back after 3 weeks, very under fed and now she maybe pregnant.
I hope that she does have the funds to look after her and to keep her. Things change money wise so much in 10 years. Wished the person who took her and whatever had happened to her inbetween would have been arrested for this.
A brown horse with a white star on its forehead, that got tangled in a barbed wire reunites with its owner after many years... wait a second... That's war horse! I'm so happy for both of them!
God. It would kill me to lose Stryker. Sunday we went to ride and the herd wasn’t in the usual field so I freaked out. Turns out, they were in another field, up on top of the hill in a corner so we couldn’t see them until they came down.
Wow!! I am thrilled for you! You have many good years ahead together. She looks great besides being underweight. I enjoyed caring for, riding and playing ground games with my mare until she became terminally ill at 34 years old.

my aunt and uncle had a horse stolen. It was an appaloosa gelding that was a foxtrot champion. They had all their horses tattooed for just such reasons. Almost 10 years after he was stolen, we was being registered for a show and it came up that he was stolen. The authorities were notified. The owner said that she had purchased him 2 years previously from someone else. Needless to say, my aunt was called and they picked up their horse. . She said she was glad the horse had been returned to the rightful owner, but she would miss him. He lived many more years and won a lot more shows.
+SamIAm ur an idiot to think that I would give her JUST apples, carrots, and donuts. I know horses like them...the point is that I would spoil her because she deserves it, shes been thru a lot, don't bother writing back I will NOT respond to useless, dumbass comments
When I finally found my horse that had been taken & then sold several years later (he was for sale on craigslist under his registered name no less), not only did the bitch in possession at the time threaten to kill me if I stepped foot on her property, I could not get the Nevada brand inspector to help, nor could I get the Saddlebred registry to help, or the cops either. No one would help me. He was sold a short time later & I have no idea where he went. He's a bay saddlebred gelding. His registered name is The Green Hornet & he is barn name at that time was stated as Dante in the ad.
Margriet den Tulp weighing 200 pounds and having balance and good riding feels fine to the horse but weighing 200 pounds and being bouncy and banding on the horses back would make the horse suffer when ridden.
Glad you got your horse back but let me gently suggest that you not ride her. You are morbidly obese and the mare is not designed to bear that much weight. Use your noodle and find a larger and stronger horse, a large gelding perhaps, if you intend to ride anything.
58landman thank goodness you are here to advise her, and so "gently" too! Do you not think that poor girl is aware of her weight gain, her teeth problems? Do you not think she has a goddamned mirror? Do you think she needs some random, incredibly insensitive jerk on the Internet guiding her "gently " about not riding her elderly, malnourished horse? Admit it, you just wanted to get a dig in at this chick. Admit you are a foul, mean-spirited person using words like "gently" to try and make the crap that you type not stink, and then maybe you can get on with your day and try to do better. You make me sick. You are ten times worse than any other dumbass on here pointing out that she is too heavy for the horse , and it is because of your guise of kindness. At least look people in the eye when you stab them.
I really don't care what you think. Telling the truth isn't always a popular thing and I don't care if she is the Princess of New Jersey, the truth is not only is this woman far to fat to be on a horse this size but there are hundreds of other thoughtless head cases who are too fat to be on some of the horses they ride. A great rule of thumb: If you're big-go big. And, the excessive weight on an older horse compounds the problem. Of course, there are exceptions, due to the strength of the particular animal.....but in most cases morbidly obese people should stay off of the back of any horse. According to The US Cavalry Manual of Horse Management (1941) a horse should not carry more than 20 percent of its own weight. This edict was routinely exceeded, soldier and equipment regularly weighing 250lb. Researchers at Duchy College, in Cornwall, England, studied horse impact from 50 riders executing 45-minute workouts and they too came up with the 20 percent recommendation. This was ascertained by monitoring the release of creatine kinase, an enzyme present in the muscle and released into the blood to restore muscle damage. This enzyme is triggered when an increasing heart rate releases plasma lactate to levels the horse’s body cannot metabolize.
Well I'm a little over weight and I have a 25 year old horse and he gets feed every day and I ride him at least once a week you could be a little nicer about it u know think about if you were in her shoes and she told you that and don't lie and say you wouldn't care because u would so don't lie think about it before you say it
Congratulations on getting your horse back. She will live out the rest of her years in comfort and security.

Holy crap ten years what are the odds. Whoa. That's just amazing, I'm really glad she found her horse, I'd be devastated, if my Blu was stolen.
So sweet! Truly a blessing...
The S.O.B's who stole her were lucky. In the olden days if you stole a horse, it would cost you your life.
i could not bear loosing a horse i mean what kid of sick person would steal a horse and let it starve!?
I recently reunited with my horse after ten years, horses are the best animals and they definitely remember you.
That's the sweetest story I've ever heard
So happy for you both and I know you will feed her and love her back to normal🥰
What a touching story!!! Together again!!! 🌹 🌹 🐴

Who steals a horse That's messed up
I don't know who would steal a horse, but someone stole my goats once. They did bring her back after 3 weeks, very under fed and now she maybe pregnant.
Wow sorry to hear that, that's messed up
Horse thieves were hung years ago.
Unfortunately, way too many people.
They're called horse thieves.
I hope that she does have the funds to look after her and to keep her. Things change money wise so much in 10 years. Wished the person who took her and whatever had happened to her inbetween would have been arrested for this.

Reminds me of Black Beauty, when Joe finds him after all that time, broken and abused, and gave him a new life.
Sharon welch...this horse did not die!!!!!

+SamIAm that's why I hate the internet, everyone's gotta be negative about a positive moment...dude you read way too much into my comment
+SamIAm ur an idiot to think that I would give her JUST apples, carrots, and donuts. I know horses like them...the point is that I would spoil her because she deserves it, shes been thru a lot, don't bother writing back I will NOT respond to useless, dumbass comments

The horse must of escaped and this is why was wondering alone and malnourished because he knew where he lived and went back to look for her owner
nice
I hope she's not trying to ride it. It would not survive...
+Margriet den Tulp Waar slaat dat nou weer op. Dat kan hij makkelijk houden. Wees blij dat het dier weer thuis is.
What are you trying to say
Margriet den Tulp weighing 200 pounds and having balance and good riding feels fine to the horse but weighing 200 pounds and being bouncy and banding on the horses back would make the horse suffer when ridden.
Margriet den Tulp.. I am glad to see you're 12 years old still!!! *GROW UP *
Yeah cause they’re American lmao the fat fucks
So sad rip.
That is not the same horse by all means
she's to heavy to ride any horse now...
she could still take care for her
Foals/Mares do not remember each other a year after being apart. So there's no way this horse would remember the lady.
Yet still a beautiful reunion.
I no hear
