Continuing the Seiko heritage of innovation and design evolution, Prospex introduce a new diver’s watch, evolved from a combination of two popular Seiko designs.
Nicknamed by fans for their unique case shapes, the ‘Samurai’ and ‘Shogun’ designs are popular Seiko models which are angular in shape and instantly recognisable. The new ‘Samurai’ inspired 4R Diver hybrid takes elements from both heritage designs, as well as adding modernised features.
Aesthetically, the new model takes the steep angled lugs of the Shogun, razor-sharp as if modelled by a Samurai sword, and echoes the crown design of the Samurai model with the straight contours of both blueprints.
In terms of size, this piece has a compact 41.7mm diameter case and slim design for comfortable wearability. It has new sharp design features such as a date window at 4.5 o’clock, pointed hands, and a newly shaped bracelet.
Compliant with the recognised ISO standard for professional diving watches, it features an in-house 4R35 movement with a power reserve of 40 hours.
Prospex is a combination of the words ‘Professional’ and ‘Specifications.’ Seiko Prospex timepieces are designed to be practical, reliable and durable; to meet the high standards required in extreme environments for sports lovers and adventure seekers alike.
Attractive and unique watches (especially the red), but rather pricey for 4R, hardlex and stamped clasp in my opinion! I'd pick one up if closer to £400
I dare say there maybe a deal to be had with these like all Seiko models
Im with you. I love my Seikos but you have to be realistic with price v specs
Wait a year or search the grey market, you can find these for below that and certainly will in the future depending on where you look

the red one got the right shade of red, not too catchy and not too boring to look at and its just exactly what it should look like

I’ve got this watch (black) arriving in the post tomorrow, can’t wait, finally a smaller samurai, love it, I like the date window but it would be better at 6, lose the top bit of the 6 index and put it there for proper symmetry.
If I was to by the red one I’d definitely want matching colour date wheel.

Sekio have done an awesome job on these. I like the way they have trimmed down and removed the distinctive shape of the case from the older model Samurais to make the new ones look so much more generic and unrecognisable as Samurais. Also love the fact that these new ones are the same price as the old King Samurais, especially since Seiko have also been able to get rid of the ceramic bezel and sapphire crystal of the King Samurais. To complete the new design I love the way they have used an AliExpress generic rehaut, used some coarse grade sandpaper to roughen up the finishing and make the new handset look truly agicultural but my personal favorite new feature is the new miniscule date window (or is it a mole?). I’m so glad that they managed so comprehensively to remove all of the distinctive Samurai features - case design, handset, lugs, strip out the uneccesary quality components like sapphire and ceramic (you know, things that noone really wants right?) and still increase the price. Bravo Seiko I say!! A true tour de force……
What can I say but some times you have to break the mould and do something different, at least their QC is getting a little better days, but yet even when its so bad that it became a standing joke if your bezel lines up you must have a fake people still buy them. Seiko can do no wrong it appears
Would love to see someone switch the black dial on the red bezel version. Imagine it could be fire. Too much red now...
Easier to swap the bezel over, red dial black bezel could look good

I have a padi samurai and a Shu-Iro samurai ltd Ed too. These fit me perfectly. I’d be tempted to try the red version of this shog-uri. But I’ll hold off for a while to see if the price drops.

Is the black finish a deep black or is it more like the SPB185 black ? I am hoping for it to be really2 black.
Tough to say this is one reason why I do the out door shots
But is it actually red?! Every time I buy a red watch it turns out to be maroon, or burgundy, or purple.
This is one of the reasons I always do outdoor shoots of the watches so people get a true idea of the colour Zach

I would have named it Shizoku if i am going to maintain the name starting with an 'S'....after all Shizoku is a terminology being given to former samurais. They are a different breed of Japanese warriors.

the case looks better but the size is to small for me.
Looks good on a 7.5 inch wrist I'm guessing you must be a lot bigger then George, I have you friend who always struggles with the bracelet length being to short
Not sure on this one, seems a bit bland and like they've lacked creativity, good to see the date the right way up but wish they'd use better movements for the price points considering you can get a shogun for a few bucks more 😎👍

seiko make great watches, have a collection, i think for watches below 300€ hardlex is ok, but above we need realy saphir glass !!!!! sush a beauty above with hardlex ?? it s realy a negative point to this watch to give it justice....

Do you not like nick names for watches @dhhjsjzjzjjhsjsjh . Seiko and Rolex are two brands which are known for it, After all if I said do you have a Rolex 16610LV you may not have any idea what I'm on about but if I said do you have a Rolex Kermit I dare say you would. So I don't mind them myself
@@ClickSpringReview the Samurai is larger than this watch, the Shogun is even larger than the Samurai, hence a nickname like Mini Samurai makes way more sense
Yeah the others are 43 and 43,7mm so what you say does make sense but I have to go with what Seiko sent out in their press paper work

@@dhhjsjzjzjjhsjsjh Bruce used to wear the old chrono 6139 which they would never bring back as it would cost to much, The new 5 BL did look pretty good and sold in big numbers
