Levis Silvertab line of jeans is definitely worth checking out. Some notable features of the Silvertabs: - Affordable, $40 - $100 will get a pretty mint pair. - Popular models included loose and baggy fit - Vintage made mostly during the 90s and early 00s - Made in the USA - Levis Branding - Heavier denim and more rugged than modern Levis - Silver tab on the back unique to that line. - Vintage pairs discontinued Note: I have 2 pairs of Silvertabs Loose Fit and couldn't recommend them enough. They are a little more roomy in the thigh and more comfortable than my 501s. Levis actually brought back this line in 2022, DO NOT buy the newer ones, please. The new ones are mostly made overseas in China and will not replicate the same quality of denim as the vintage ones at the same price point.
Oni 222 owner here 🙋I think the 222 cut in particular fades slightly slower because it's wider and you can't really get those honeycombs and whatnot. The low tension fabric does make the fades look interesting though. I noticed a lot of vertical/streaky fading. Love the vid!
I’ve been looking for an elevated selvedge pair the past few week but there’s SOOO much out there. Thanks to this vid I decided in the Taiga Takahashi lot 705, they were 400 not 280 but still amazing. Thanks for the recommendation.
Nice video! Keep 'em comin'! The Unbranded Brand UB201 were my first selvedge denim (perhaps I should've gone with the UB301, though), and I bought some Burgus Plus 771-99 at Hinoya in Ueno when I was in Japan in September. I haven't worn that second pair, yet, as the weather is still too hot here for denim. FYI, the "tate" in Tate + Yoko is Japanese and is pronounced as if there were an accent on the end. So it's more like "taté". It sounds like the "é" in "café".
Just wanted to add “Redcast Heritage” to the denim retailer list! They’re out of Spain but offer very fair pricing to export markets! Also, have a pair of Oni 15oz ishikawadai jeans and they are to absolutely die for when it comes to fit and texture (visual and tactile)
Definitely will say that you did inspire me to buy the sugarcane 1947 and the Okinawa pairs in NYC and went to self edge to buy them, I'm 175 lbs, 6'1 and got both pairs 34x34 and they fit perfectly, I will say the first couple of wears will be tight but after they will stretch out a bit and feel amazing. Some pairs of denim I'm actually looking at buying are some RRL, I believe they make some dope stuff and the price point isnt to crazy especially if you already forked over some money on some japanese denim . Another thing I think you'd like Drew are those new ALD timbs that just dropped recently (especially the brown ones), also next time you go to Dover street market you should smell the fragrance Edward Bess Kiss the sky, smells amazing, one day I'd love to talk clothes with you and possibly in the near future you make some vids covering some accessories like wallets, simple watches and little accents like that, that elevate your style. Thank you for making videos, you really inspire me a lot and seem like a cool genuine person, much love from Texas
Love this bro! Currently on Okinawa Japan, and going to Tokyo next week! Been looking for a full denim set! Thank you so much for the recommendations, you inspire me!
Always love your videos Drew, but this one might be my favorite that you've ever done! Incredibly thorough, and I can clearly appreciate how enthusiastic and passionate you are about denim. So many great points and tips. I missed the window to give a recommendation - which based on my history with raw/selvedge, I guess my top pick would be Oni, specifically their secret denim. But this video has inspired to dip my toe back into the denim market and explore more. Well done!
Brands also gotta have wider waists for the short guys out there like myself. I prefer to rock a 40 or 42 in the waist and between 30 and 28 on the inseam.
$280 for jeans?! That’s my paycheck 😂😩😩😩 Can I request a video? Getting into fashion and a certain style.. like 90’s, vintage… timeless fashion… how to tell parents or family what to get you for the holidays, if it’s mostly second hand or very expensive? Especially nowadays when we’re all broke af and everything’s only going up? And can you give us just ideas how or where to go? On our own time💜
Ask them for the money and tell them what you’re gonna do with it, because unless they themselves somewhat are a bit into fashion it could be pretty hard for them to understand what you’re looking for
@@Justmebeee or even better, ask some of em who u know that would be down to just spend a day with you that they accompany you when you go so that you can bond with them and they might get a feel for what you’re looking for🤔
to those feeling too broke... if you do the research first (which you are doing), save, then buy a single pair that meticulously matches everything you want in pants, wearing them 3-4 times a week for 4-5 years (and for more if ya want, get em tailored here and there), they will have paid off tenfold. do it second hand, get proof that they're legit from the seller. I've found designer exists out there sold by people who didn't do that research/save and have to make their money back. (; bringing a pair of designer from ebay thrifts to their smallest cost per wear is so satisfying.
Since im on the chubbier side 501's, 505's or any kind of straight fitting pants don't fit me the way they are supposed to fit. The ones that do fit me are the Levi's 569 or any loose fit or wide leg fit.
Any pair of jeans that sit right on/just above the ankles? I’m a 30x30 but I’m looking for some relaxed straight leg jeans that would fit more like a 30 x 28.
I seriously recommend the “295” cut from Oni Denim. They are a very nice roomy/baggy take on a Japanese straight silhouette. I’m pretty skinny in the legs and my pair has the perfect amount of extra fabric. Not to mention they are just gorgeous imo
Every pair of jeans I buy is either too tight on my thighs, too tight on my butt/crotch area or both. It’s so annoying. For example the dickies 874 (I know they aren’t jeans) are wayyyy to tight on my butt and crotch area, it literally goes up my butt cheeks. Other than that they fit perfectly everywhere else.
Yo drew what shoes would you recommend for a male in his 30s to wear casual: the minimal white sneakers or Birkenstocks? I already have all the sneakers and boots a man needs except I’m missing the Birkenstocks and either the common projects or Thursday all white leather sneakers.
Basically mall brands quality now, they were good before but now just fast fashion. Vintage made in America ones are a different story though or the LVC line
I think I'm too broke to be watching this video 😭
Fr even the “budget friendly” section wasn’t so budget friendly
same bro. I get my jeans from thrifts 😂.
Maybe not watch and work

Weekday astro jeans are the goat imo, especially for men with wider hips. They come in at around €60 (i dont know if they’re available in the us)

What white t shirt are you rocking in this video?
Have a look a maharishi denim. Tons of fits and an interesting camo pattern on the inside.
Front Office - Fingerprint denim surely
Learned a lot and was affirmed on a lot of denim knowledge I already had. Loved this.
Ami Paris Classic Fit Jeans are my favourites hands down
Leaving out 501 STF is criminal! Those are easily the best for the price 501 you can buy!
Just wanna ask, does unsanforized one wash mean true to size, or should I size up?

Recommendations on a bit more baggy pair of selvedged jeans?

Braindead or the baggy Supreme jeans in selvedge are solid.
Does anyone know of a loosefit barrel jean horseshoe leg women's not cropped at all? Thank you!
I used to wear $30 jeans from Wrangler. Wtf happened to me! It's just jeans.
Stüssy’s actually a surf brand that delved into skate way later. But I promised I’m not tryina be ‘that guy’ lol
