I still use their feminine wash, and it works great. I didn't know black twitter needed every ingredient to be organic. I can understand the need to change the formulation because during the pandemic I could no longer find the honey pot feminine washes at target or walgreens. The pandemic probably affected the way they were able to get ingredients for their product. They are one of the few ones that are natural. Unfortunately, she didn't state that the reason for the change was supply demand issues initially. It was stated that they "surveyed customers" and used new ingredients to improve the formula. We get the supply chain issues during the pandemic. That's understandable. The issue is the change without being informed. Our vaginas are a sensitive organ and can't take everything. That's one of the reasons majority of us chose this great company. I'm not sure who was surveyed but the new formulation did cause irritation for me as I see it did many others. Didn't realize that when experiencing the irritation it was the wash because its a product I've used for awhile. I'll just stick to the pantyliners and the suppositories if needed. The new wash will be a No for me.

I started using Honey Pot products because I became hyper-aware of what I put on and in my body... My primary intention was to use healthy, natural products. Supporting black business was just a plus. I had an issue with the lack of communication, as it pertains to the ingredients change. I was never one of the "bandwagon people" that attacked them, however I was extremely disappointed and low-key felt betrayed by how things went down. It didn't help that I'd wasted my hard earned money on multiples of a product, that I can no longer use. I appreciate the explanation that she gave and her acknowledgement that they could've communicated more effectively. It's unfortunate that I feel like I got the short end of the stick, but I wish them the best. Even though I no longer use their washes, I still remain a fan of their pads and wipes. People need to stop assuming that folks are just hating on this company. People are really upset because this change is negatively affecting many women’s PH balance and causing discomfort. For me, this was my absolute go to wash and I trusted it and my lady parts felt great and were problem free. Then I noticed a difference BEFORE I even knew of any changes made. After a few days and feeling some irritation, I read the bottle and compared it to an original bottle I had and I saw most ALL the natural ingredients had been replaced with chemicals. Then I went online and thats when it was confirmed that it had been changed. I saw all the angry people saying The Honey Pot should have mentioned the change. And they should have! How you gonna have people out here washing their parts with poison and not mention it! Also, when this company 1st came out white women were pissed. When white women become pissed then changes will be made to make them happy. This owner can cry online all she wants but something tells me these ingredients were changed with another agenda behind it. So for ME, I can’t trust it. That’s not just going off of the media, that’s going off my actual body. Something is off now ever since they got rid of the original.

The issue isn’t if this company is still black owned. The issue is that this product was promoted and marketed as being a healthy alternative to mainstream products. The chemicals in these other products are very harmful to women so her big money maker was that this was natural vegan products for women who couldnt use others. A change of ingredients is a major health issue. If someone uses the new formula, had a health scare she could be sued. People don’t always read labels to see if ingredients have changed if they trust the product. TRUST is the issue. I’m sure she’s lost customers because of this

@@nellko6391 Beauty companies communicate with their customers all the time. That’s why they use influencers to communicate to their followers. That’s why they have PR departments. Their job is to communicate. So, you can’t use what white companies do as excuse. Because they do communicate.
When white companies launch a new product or formulas. They advertise that the change is coming. They send out products to influencers and the press. And then they launch it in the store.
Make Up Forever just did it. They changed the formula of their HD Foundation. They discontinued the old formula. They didn’t just change it without educating their customers. They sent it to the influencers so they could review it.

I'll NEVER understand why we're so hard on our own but will give these WHITE brands chance after chance. High end brands that blatantly market racist shit towards us NEVER get cancelled. Yes, I agree to holding them accountable and we the consumer should've been notified but the comments I seen towards this brand wasn't matching the same energy towards Gucci, H&M and Dove. And the young lady that created the TikTok should apologize to them for saying they sold the company. I love us so much but sometimes I cant stand the way we act towards one another. The company now knows to let us know when ingredients have been changed. I will continue to support this brand always.

I'm glad that they least admit they should have been more transparent about the ingredients changing. Because their products are used so intimately, I think consumers have a right to know what they're using. Often times, ingredient changes do signal change in ownership which is why consumers jumped to conclusions. Not saying it's right, but it happens. Like one of the signs that Carol's Daughter was no longer Black-owned was that the ingredients changed, unfortunately.

    • @sweetvictory89
      @sweetvictory89 2 года назад +8

Most companies don't make announcements when there's an ingredient change. You find out when you go buy it and it says "new formula" or you recheck the ingredients. Just because the are Black owned people expect more from them and pounce like animals if there Lil dreams aren't fulfilled

@@sweetvictory89 I don't expect more from Black-owned companies and certainly don't pounce on them. I think ALL companies should communicate if there is a formula change, particular if the products are for intimate use and may impact vaginal pH. I'd say that for all companies that make sanitary products. Please don't misunderstand what I am saying and assume I have bad intentions. I am proud of what the founders have built, but also concerned for any sisters who may have experienced adverse effects as a result of the change.

Thank you for coming on the show to discuss what changes you all are working on.
The biggest issue was not wanting to know if it was still black-owned. They wanted to know why the wash didn't feel like it did previously or why the list of ingredients on the product changed, and what changed about it. We understand that things have to change when there are supply chain issues, but the consumers just want to know about it being that she has always communicated with her consumers from the beginning. This stuff is going on people's private areas for God's sake. A little graphic on the front of the product saying "new ingredients" or "new formula" could have solved this problem from the beginning.
11:55 that's ignorant of cthagod to say who is reading ingredients. Majority of the world is ready ingredients to have an understanding of what they're consuming or using on their bodies.
Yes, the persons who brought this to light could be misinformed, but they were just asking questions about a product that they use on their bodies.
I'm sorry that you all received those terrible messages. That was unnecessary snd shouldn't have been written.
One suggestion, stop saying ppl are lying or lied on y'all. They didn't. They made an assumption based on what they saw and their previous experiences with other black-owned companies who have sold to people who don't care. That person who put up the tik tok shouldn't have to apologize.
If you say you have all of this information? Why wasn't it put out beforehand? Everything could have been avoided if you did.
Please don't listen to what cthagod is saying. He's going to cause more issues for you. He's so far removed.

Yes! & with it being products used for vaginal purposes & mainly used by black women , that’s even more of a reason to question whether it’s black owned or not once you see an ingredient has changed. I think people were generally curious about what was going on. Her coming out with a statement after ppl began to say it felt different & compared the old ingredients just probably made them think she didn’t really care about her consumers
