Everything you said is the exact same for me
Moved out of bakersfield in 2022. Bakersfield is not the town I used to know. The Southwest and Rosedale area used to be the safe zone not anymore it's ALL dangerous and you don't realize that until you move OUT of state where crime is not such an issue. It's a night and day differnce.... crime should not be on your mind daily its just not normal. I will never regret leaving so much more peace. Crime and theft is hardly a thought where I live now it's crazy when I think back to the anxiety I used to feel daily.
My brother got his car stolen out of the drive way. East Side for life!

I was born in Oildale to a wonderful mother...and a meth addict, car-stealing father. She got me outta there at 4 years old and that was the best thing to ever happen to me. I live in Seattle now and i would move to L.A. and Vegas before I'd even consider bakersfield

The heat alone (+100F 1/2 the year until halloweeen) plus the worst air quality in the world (sits in a bowl), and lack of recreational activities would keep me away. Did you ever get valley fever once you moved there?
Yes, it gets hot and it seems like this summer has been one of the worst! Fortunately, I have never gotten valley fever but I know a couple of people who have had it.

I Would Say Bakersfield Is Safer Than The Larger Cities In California And Was Also Safer Before The Big Places Like LA And SF Started Dropping Off There Homeless Here.

It depends where you live for real.. I have live southwest my whole life born and raised Bakersfield and I have never had any encounter or problem. Great schools and yes every town has bad areas and I fortunately the poor areas have more crime

I was born in the early 80’s here and all parts of Bakersfield was great then. Can anyone tell me why they think it’s gone so down hill since? Everyone be honest we’re all friends here? I know why but I just want to see if anyone’s brave enough to tell the truth here?
Walking on the east side of Bakersfield at 6pm and almost got shot by a drive by . It’s not safe on the east side for sure ! I hear gun shots every night !Also so many stray dogs it’s crazy dangerous

I live in Bakersfield as well. Came January 2020. It's fairly safe out here that I have observed. I am near the BHS area. I still have yet to see the entire city though smh lol it is so far more safer than Los Angeles and other surrounding cities that's for sure

If you come to Bakersfield go to NW and SW area avoid everything on the east side that's where the homeless people and gangsters live

@versiec we had my husband's truck stolen 2 years ago. We recovered it after looking for it and finding the twickers that stoled it cruising down union. That day, they found out what it was like to steal from a trucker, adrenaline junky, offroad enthusiast 😅😅. That was the only incident we experienced in all the years we lived here.
Bakersfield needs to close the grapevine like the country needs to close its boarders.

Cause a bunch of kids go around stealing those for some reason , 😭🥹 it’s very sad cause they don’t even have a nickel for what being an adult means I mean their throwing their lives away, for what a few pictures of a car and I behind the wheel, maybe pick some girls up🤷🏽♂️👎🏽 those kids have no idea , they get pull over by a cop their not stopping they don’t know whether to stop or go and they always choose go and when they get too that JH or camp , Crossroads, I’ve been to all three but the point is I’ve grown out of that and where are your friends, those girls when you get behind that wall , Nowhere nowhere at all 💯🩶this is just my point of view an my proscription I did all that bad boy most of all my life im 18 now I’ve grown out of crimes and this is what exactly happen to me I hit the fan , and everybody air’d out of my life thanks for reading this and have a great blessed day 😇🕊️🙏🏽
