  • I asked this question on the 8th day of starting this project and loved it so much that I was waiting for the right time to ask it again. So, earlier this week I decided to include it in the poll and I guess you all loved it as much as me because it got the most votes.
I'm curious to know how you all would answer the question so if you get the chance, I'd love to hear your answer in the comments. Again, thank you all for watching the episode! Feel free to suggest a future question you'd like me to ask for this series in the comments. I love you all! #BeKind

when my daughter was born...i was singing her name to her starting at 26 weeks pregnant...i had an emergency c-section, so they whisked her away. when i was finally rolled to her, she was screaming her brains out....i starting saying her name in the sing-songy voice i always did when she was inside me, and she IMMEDIATELY stopped crying, and turned her head and locked eyes with me. And the moment i felt most alive was... When i was fighting for my life in the sea. I screamed for help, but the life guard(?) was to busy talking to some people in the cafe. The person who saved me was my sister. We were both fighting agaisn't the waves, but i felt really weak and when the sea separated my hands from hers, i thought to myself "let her go, she lives, don't drag her down with you". For seconds, i gave up on myself. But she didn't gave up on me. ): Even tho i drank so much water and was about to get stolen by the ocean, she found my hand again and pushed me. David Parkinson Right?! When she first came on screen my initial thought was: wow, what beautiful eyes! Then I noticed how beautiful her lips were. But then she started talking about depression and self-harm and my brain began to over analyze her face to see what she may think of herself. So her words about herself began to change my view of her. But nothing can change the fact that she has a very symmetrical face and super emotive and engaging eyes and a beautiful spirit. Depression is a mean monster that lies to us about ourselves.

I was caring for my first grandchild, a beautiful infant boy, and he was very fussy. So I bundled him up, and took him outside into a gorgeous autumn day, where I snuggled him close, stood rocking him back and forth, and listened to the wind blowing through the pine trees and the birds singing. “When I was dead”. That was the most profound statement ever. And the truth!! This disconnect from fact that we are one with everything is what makes people not feel alive. Some guy friends drove me and my girlfriends home and we were prank calling people and making jokes with the drive through people, and just having fun. My mom kept calling me and I didn’t answer. I felt alive because I realized sometimes it’s just worth the punishment, it’s not fair for me to not experience a normal teenage life because of my moms fears.

Rafting in Antalya, Turkey. The waters were so blue, and clear that I could see feet below the water. My arms were half sore from all the boating but with the sunlight hitting my shades, I looked at the rest of my family laughing and having the time of their lives, I could feel the happiness everywhere. And I knew at that moment that it was going to become a memory which I would wish I could go back to.

The time I felt most alive was about 2 weeks ago. In The Netherlands we have a city fair 4 days a year. They build these big machines, I believe they're called fairground attractions, and I went there with friends. One of my best friends got a girlfriend who I'm also great friends with. I went with them and so I was kinda like the 3rd wheel. But I honestly had the time of my life those days. I loved it. I was having so much fun with them and I think for the first time in years I've experienced what real friends feel like. I won't forget it, never

I love this question! 😍 I feel alive every day (because I fought for it) but the number one memory was when I had just moved to the states and at 4 in the morning I'm woken up by this horribly awful loud noise screaming loudly in the house and as a newbie to farmlife I shot out of bed half dead half awake to check it out and it was a newborn calf and he had been abandoned at birth, not licked off so the wetness of birth fluids had caused hypothermia because it was still winter. I get told "you'll have to dry him and get his temperature up because I can't be late for work. I'll try to get time off but his life is in your hands" so I rub towels on him on the floor for hours and hours. At the 4 hour mark his gums still felt like refrigerated raw chicken breast and his eyes rolled into his skull and the calf fainted. My arms felt like spaghetti so I wasn't ready to just lose all progress and got him back to consciousness through basically harassing him awake and kept working. He bonded with my voice as I spoke to him and sang to him, named him Popsicle and after 6 hours of rubbing, blow drying and floor spooning under blankets he finally was getting warm and reinforcements arrived to try to feed him, and he followed me like a puppy the whole time he was bottle age because of how intense those first hours were. I have saved lives from both hypothermia and heat stroke several times since then and every time truly pushes your body to every limit mentally and physically but it is the coolest thing in the world to endure for such a high reward. When your whole body and brain screams "I can't do this" you have to say "Yes I can" and just do. But nothing beat that first time when I was basically thrown into the deep end of the pool with nothing but myself and my grit from 4 am to 10 am, no time for breakfast, and it was the first time I got to save a life. I didn't know how strong my willpower and capacity was until that day. April 4th 2013. ❤

I felt the most alive when our head teacher handed me my graduation document.
I have always been a very shy and emotional person. When I was younger, I struggled to keep my feelings in place and would overreact pretty quickly. A lot of the other students either avoided me because of this or saw me as an easy target for mockery, sometimes they did both. I knew what was happening but I didn't know how to change myself and my situation. I couldn't trust anyone with my problems, not even my own parents, because I thought everyone was annoyed of me. I got depressed at an early age, around 10. I often pretended to be sick so that I wouldn't have to go to school and see the other students. The teachers never helped me, even when I got made fun of in class and/or I started crying. I had two, maybe three friends who where really important to me, but I always felt like I was just their second choice.
The more I felt isolated and alone, the more the other students made fun of me. Throughout the years, it got worse and worse. I already had suicidal thoughts and tried self harming. I felt hollow, I showed emotions on the outside, but not on the inside anymore. I felt like a dying plant that hasn't been watered in months.
This is why I felt the most alive when I held my official graduation document in my hands. It was the sign that all those years of isolation, helplessness and frustration where finally over. I already planned on moving to a far away city to go to university, I'll move there in a month. I won't see those students and teachers for a long time. This makes me happy. I can start from scratch and be myself again. I'm excited!

Any concert, with my anxiety I never really am relaxed there’s always something going on in the background. It’s always so weird because almost everything in a concert is normally a trigger/just makes my ticks more hyped up then normal. But the one place the should freak me out the most is actually the place where I feel the most relaxed, I can actually let go and forget my past, just be me for those few hours. Those are my greatest hours, when I actually can live and enjoy what’s right in front of me.

There were actually 2 moments where I really felt alive. The first one is cheesy but whenever I’m with my boyfriend and he’s hugging me or just close to me, it makes my heart feel so happy and full. I don’t know if it makes me feel alive but it makes me appreciate the fact that I am alive because I get to experience moments like that. The second one was I guess kind of weird, I was in the pool at the deep end and I decided to sink to the bottom and when I opened my eyes the sunlight was all over the pool and it was so beautiful and my body felt so cool and peaceful and yeah, if I wasn’t already holding my breath the scene in front of me would’ve taken it away haha.

I felt most alive when I walked out of the BART station in downtown San Franciso, my first overseas trip. I'm from a small city, in the Caribbean of Colombia. I grew up overprotected, feeling everything was dangerous, all no no no, don't don't don't..and then at 25 I was working, saved, and in a work trip to Mexico, I got on a plane and flew to San Fransisco. Phones didn't have maps back then, so I had printed my maps from A to B and fell in love with the beauty of people, strangers, 2nd had shops, the sounds of the city, feeling free, I don't think I ever got to B. Everything was OK. I was OK. Maybe feeling alive is feeling aligned with who you really are, beyond all the "stories" you are told. It's like: this is true. I am here. You are fully in your body. I came back after that trip and I saw everything differently. I just knew what felt right and that was not right. It was like I was suddenly awake.

When I was a kid and was running with my sisters around the farm that my grandfather owned. We were just playing around the field there and wading in the small river.
It was also so calming to sit there just watching the river go by. I live in Iceland so the river was coming from the glacier Langijökull. So it was very damn cold.
I loved it, I had the record for standing the longest in the small river. (family record)
I was so alive and I felt like this place was my only freedom, so when ever we visited I'd rather stay outside in the nature rather than hang around inside.
I miss that time. I did walk from the town I live in over to the farm, it was a bit of hiking and then a lot of walking. Took me 6 hours but the nature was breathtaking.
I love living in Iceland because I'm so close to the nature and it's easy to find a place to just sit and enjoy my surroundings.
I'm glad that the woman felt the peace here, the weather has been horrible here lately though, but we're hoping for a decent summer :)

I had mostly given up on finding any meaning in life. I was miserable, I’d explored so many avenues of finding answers or meaning and it all meant nothing and actually everything got more and more meaningless and ruined in the process...I was sick to my soul....and hung on only because my daughters needed a mom but inside I just wanted to give up.
One day I randomly went to a church service one day and the pastor was preparing to give out the Lord’s Supper, and I heard him quote Jesus as he held out the bread and wine saying, “This is my body, given up for you, and this is the new covenant in my blood poured out for you.”
Something clicked in that moment and I actually understood what it meant. I was overwhelmed with how much value the Son of God had assigned to me that he willingly gave himself up for me like that?
I wept and wept for sorrow but also for joy, you see it felt like where everything had been dead and dark and isolated and silent that somehow I’d gotten connected, plugged into an energy source and everything inside and around me lit up at once. There was meaning, there was sense, there was a hope. It was such a relief, and needless to say, I gave my life to Christ then and have never looked back.
Life with Him only gets better every day. 😊

The day my son was born, 8.5 years ago. For so many years before he came along I was suicidal. But he came along and I knew there and then I’d never feel that suicidal or alone ever again, because I had him to live for. I am his only parent so I knew without me, he’d be alone. It’s been tough, I’ve struggled with self harm and black thoughts, but I can say, for the past 2/3 years I’ve been in the best mental state that I’ve ever been in.

*the first ones were such bros, but so sweet. His answer had me dead "When I was born..?"* I love this idea, I think for me it's when I'm helping people, taking risks', outside, anything with adrenaline, ANY of my flight training lessons, when I'm acting and the camera man shouts "ROLLING!"...there's a couple. A beautiful view after hiking, longboarding and bombing a massive hill, swimming...many are outdoors. *And lastly, shoutout to chick at **3:31**, that takes some real strength, I wish you the absolute best!!*

Giving birth! It was the most human experience ever! At one point, I was bent over the bed, and the nurse was supporting me and letting me put my head on hers. I was crying from all the encouragement, love, pain, and knowing I was soon going to hold my baby I waited so many months for. I was amazed at the stamina and love from strangers in one of the most vulnerable moments of my life. That vulnerability as a human was so shocking and made me feel so alive. I’m so grateful.

I’m about a month late to this video. But the time I felt the most alive was way back in highschool, I was performing one of my first shows in theatre and the show dealt with a lot of death. I played a dead character who haunted the main character alongside others. There was a very sad and dramatic scene where mine and the other supporting characters collectively speak a long list of small but great things about life that we won’t be able to experience anymore, (such as hugs, laughing, and even aimlessly finding interest in watching a blade of grass move). At that time in my life I was very suicidal and was dealing with some of the hardest things I’ve ever had to deal with. After hearing the whole scene put together live, I went home and cried for way too long and the next day slowly starting to recognize those little great things about being alive. It was the biggest turning point in my life, I wouldn’t be here today if not for that realization, the following weeks of finding the good in as many little things as possible was the time I’ve felt the most alive and a time I’ll never forget about.

im so thankful that you've got out of the suicidal period in ur life. i totally understand what you mean by the importance treasuring the little things in life. life can be heartless and tough, but if u view it through the lens of gratitude, u can get by anything. gratitude is the reason i stop questioning my existence, and its also the beginning to u living in the present moment.

i felt most alive on a trip from summer 2022 to the sea, it was just me and a bunch of teenagers having fun, partying every single night, and one moment that made me feel most alive from that trip was me swimming at night in the sea with my boyfriend. the water was so cold and there were a bunch of big waves but that was the fun part. and i think about that trip a lot and i still cry when i think of it because it was just so beautiful, i felt free and young and i'd to anything to be able to live in that time of my life for the rest of my days.

For as long as I can remember, I’ve been stressed. I’ve never allowed myself to focus on the present because I’ve always felt like I should be preparing for the future, whether it be school, university, work, relationships... But I’d also stress about insignificant things. For example, whenever I finished work on a Friday, I’d instantly start to stress about returning to work the following Monday. The stress truly was constant and relentless.
But I remember going to Rome with my parents for the weekend of my 16th birthday, and we were standing on the roof terrace of the hotel. It was a gorgeous day, and the view was unreal - we could actually see the colosseum from our hotel.
I remember just sitting there and feeling totally at peace. I’d finished all my exams, I still had 8 weeks before I started Sixth Form (which was a completely fresh start, which meant I had no homework or stuff to stress about), and I was with the two most important people in my life. I felt alive because it was the first (and probably only) time I’ve ever felt like I’ve enjoyed living in the moment.

    1. in my first year of uni I was pretty lonely and didn't really have friends. I'd stay in my room and roam around at night around the uni and in the parking lot. one night I was listening to music and felt elated and free from the pressure of uni and new people, another night I ended up doing a whole karaoke session in my room, jumping and dancing and whatnot.
    2. laying on the grass pretend playing piano in the air whilst listening to my favourite (piano) song
    3. hiking up a hill and taking off my shirt at the top and just being quite bare in nature. watching the city and planes go by far in the distance, and ants climb up blades of grass.
    4. on my backpacking travels, me and a friend I'd made over the week were celebrating his leaving. we drank beers by the beach and really talked and that night the stars seemed so bright. everything seemed heightened. this is markedly the only time I've felt completely alive with someone else

Please Thoraya, include more of the individuals who are developmentally delayed or less independent. I work with this population and the stories they have.. the emotion and expression.. they need to be seen and heard. It may take longer, but the results are so beautiful. I've felt most alive serving these people and seeing the growth in them. I've also felt most alive by realizing how much support I've given them- after one of them is now in a coma. The end is near- but I feel so honored and liberated to have been a part of her life. Thankyou 💕
