Wow, HURT, Such gutwrenching and profound lyrics, only someone who has truely experienced deep, heartaching and truely heartbreaking hurt could deliver these vocals with with intense believe ability. Elvis had suffered so much heartache and and heartbreak both with his disallusioning career and his own personal situations, he didn't have to dig too deep to let his unique interpretation of the lyrics come flooding out. His vocal prowess here spoke for itself as always, , and the slight quivering on the end note simply added more gravitas and poignancy to the narrative. Omg was he tearing out his heartstrings here, his pain was palpable, he,d began to accept at this stage that all had not been as he had thought, and me personally I think he realised that those he,d thought as his life savers had merely been his life takers, in more ways than he could ever have imagined.
