    "In a split instant, it can go into over drive". So grateful for this video. Precise timing.
    Wish all the people on this spiritual path, the absolute best. Loneliness is a deep conditioned thought pattern emotion, that likes to arise often. Continue witnessing when it arises, don't resist it, obviously you know you're not alone. Stay one with it all. All love 💪❤🧠

    Ahh - how do I unenlighten myself - what a great question - what a great stance to take. It comes from simply knowing that one is & can only be "enlightened" (not such a great word) - rather than coming from the perspective of having *lost* that. Such a simple flip of the coin to the other side, yet so profound are its potential results.
    Flexing one's perspective often brings excellent results - rather than continuing on with mind's linear approach to most everything. Thank you, Adya, for all that you share, all that you are.

    Adyashanti quote highlights from this video: “I see all spiritual teachings as strategies for awakening. Otherwise, we think that they are statements of truth or that the teaching itself contains the reality-which it really can't, it's all a pointer.”
    “What's spirituality really about for you? Why is this quest happening for you? When I ask people that, 90% of them don't know.”
    “Even though spirituality is so often associated with escaping human suffering, I don't really see that that's what it's really about at all-that's a byproduct of being conscious that you don’t suffer as much.”
    “One of life’s movements is to become self-aware-to know itself, to be aware of itself.”
    “In any moment of spiritual clarity, what we know is that what we really are is what we really are. We always were that, so it can't actually go away. It can't really be lost, therefore it can't be grasped.”
    “How is it that I unenlighten myself? How is it that right now this mind is unenlightening me?”

    "All of the paths that we have today are not very good. They can be vastly improved upon. And as a result of that improvement we will see a democratization of enlightenment across the globe. So it always helps me to keep in mind that the 'best path' is yet to be invented. And that''s exciting and wonderful!" - Shinzen Young

      There are no best path, the Buddha said there are 10,000 paths to the truth. Each person will find their own "best" path if he/she is truly looking or until he/she is tired of suffering and avoiding suffering.

    I will say that prior to my 6 hour moment of clarity interacting with others, I was trying to understand "the secret of the universe" and formed many models of such. After that experience I immediately started working on models of the ego because I had to fall back into the ego and that "learned" me the real issue of why I could not "stay". Now everything is falling away, "after two decades of just following my own way, lol", and I feel as if I am in vigil for 'grace' to "complete" whatever is really happening.

    ~ An awakened mind is a mind without barriers or limitations ~ One that can see the true nature of reality ~ An open mind sees all ~ A closed mind sees very little ~ The struggle we go through is not to find truth ~ But to remove those things from our minds ~ That prevent us from seeing truth ~ That prevent us from expanding our awareness ~ That prevent us from becoming what we were meant to be ~ If the path you choose removes these barriers and limitations then you are on the right path ~ If the path you choose creates barriers and limitations then you are on the wrong path ~ So you need to choose your path wisely ~ If you want to liberate your mind ~

      +Michael Maitri Completely agree! The road to freedom is through cutting off of the unneeded baggage, which in fact at the first look is not seen and understood as truly unneded, so the struggle must continue(it has no other choice) until one recognizes, sees, fully agrees and accepts that very simple fact. That simple thing is so called "Enlightenment" or "Awakening"! And there is nothing fantastic or suiting oneself well enough. In fact it is a sacrifice in some sort, sacrifice of ideas, beliefs and identities. It is often (if not to say ALWAYS)very terrifyin' and frightenin'. Good luck to everybody! Have courage on the path.

    I keep coming back to 'there is no way', there is my way, there is your way..... for me to stay with that authentic feeling I felt as a child is what I need while keeping it alive as an adultin life and every time I am about to step away from that authentic feeling, I am aware of it, reflect on it, and make my choices. Peace of mind is all that I want in the end. How about you?

    I think what Buddha meant was far simpler than what it eventually became through multiple mistranslations, misinterpretations and distortions.
    Buddha taught to the common people and Buddha used the common man’s language. The words that Buddha used then are still used in that region and in the common language, they mean something very practical things related to the ordinary day-to-day life and quite different from the lofty things they are often supposed to refer to in much of the spiritual literature.
    I present my thoughts based on what what he taught actually means in the language and culture that he was born and brought up into and in the culture he gave his teachings into.
    Buddha: The word Buddha came from the word “Buddhi”. Buddhi = intelligence + skill + knowledge + goodness. It can be roughly translated to wisdom. As such Buddha simply means… …”the wise one”. Buddha means a person who knows what kind of thinking, speech and actions bring pain and suffering and what brings peace, relaxation and happiness.
    Considering the origin of word, Buddha doesn’t mean the enlightened one, awakened one as in… ...being extra special… ...as the word is used today and as it has been used for quite a while. I don’t think Buddha ever intended to project him to be the extra special one.
    Jnana: Jnana means true knowledge. Jnana means knowledge of the self. Jnana is closely associated with wisdom it means knowing what causes pain and what brings peace.
    Buddha said “he received jnana”... ...it meant he saw into the nature of thinking and he understood what kind of thinking, speech and action brings pain and what avoids it.
    Buddha recommended “no attachment” among many other things because he saw that being attached to things that change brings pain.
    Dukha: dukha means the pain in thinking. Dukha means thinking that causes mental pain which is then felt as painful emotions. This is what Buddha was teaching how to avoid/reduce/minimize/eradicate.
    Dukha is quite distinct from kashta. Kashta means physical discomfort or pain.
    Upaya: Upaya means a systematic, method to solve/avoid a problem. It is meant to be practical. It is meant to be based on cause, effect and observation. It is meant to be consistent and repeatable. IOW… ...it is meant to be scientific.
    Sadhana: Sadhana means practicing a skill, a goal, a purpose with focus, concentration and single-mindedness and to repeat it until it is fully mastered.
    What Buddha taught practicing was to “master” the “peace of mind”, “single mindedness”, “focus”, “clarity” and being able to “think in the right, wise way… ...the way that bring peace and avoid dukkha (mental pain caused by wrong thinking).”
    Buddha was a very practical man and he teaching was largely meant for the common people leading ordinary day-to-day life. In my opinion and I don’t think he was teaching people about how to reach a… ...very special, exalted state… ...something that the words like… ...awakening, enlightenment… ...came to mean…

    Yes, I am from that region, the region, language and culture that Buddha was born and brought up into and in the culture that he gave his teachings into. , and I grew hearing these words in common day-to-day language used by common people to mean practical day-to-day reality. ...though, this is about about 2500 years after Buddha was born :-)

      There is a book called Confessions of a Buddhist Atheist by Stephen Bachelor and your comments remind me of this. It is from a western man who moved to the East and fell into Tibetan Buddhism but eventually became disillusioned and couldn't reconcile his western scientific way of thinking and some of the practices so he started to studying the old texts to try to figure out what the "historical buddha" was actually saying and his interpretation is similar to yours. He was saying that alot of the Buddha teachings were practical and he may have been more of a social planner, and if people followed what he said we would live a better society

But I was not really struggling I loved it and it is still the only thing that reduced my physical pain. But I ignored you and carried on. I am probably more concerned now with what I think, say, behave; If I meditate years and do not shrink if I realise I have been unkind there was not that much point. Spirituality is the way to that Bliss that never fades
    By the Words of Anandamayi Ma ( ~ Amma)
    The happiness that we gain from the outer world is fleeting: it never stays with us for long. It is there one moment and gone the next. But spiritual bliss is not like this. Once the final breakthrough happens, where you transcend the limitations of body, mind and intellect, the bliss is forever and it is infinite. Once you reach that ultimate state, there is no return. ~~Amma 🕉 Om

    Exactly, Spiritually and Enlightenment is the way (it is the only way) to get out of suffering. It is the way to to live effortlessly and spondaneously the peace, plenitude and bliss of our true Nature.
    This is my experience and what Bhagavat Gita and Masters like Swami Sivananda say!
    Verses of Bhagavat Gita
    65. In that peace all pains are destroyed, for the intellect of the tranquil-minded soon
    becomes steady."
    Commentary of Sivananda: When peace is attained all miseries end.
    17. Yoga becomes the destroyer of pain for him who is always moderate in eating and
    recreation (such as walking, etc.), who is moderate in exertion in actions, who is moderate in sleep
    and wakefulness.
    23. Let that be known by the name of Yoga, the severance from union with pain. This Yoga
    should be practised with determination and with an undesponding mind.
    24. He who is ever happy within, who rejoices within, who is illumined within, such a Yogi
    attains absolute freedom, himself becoming Brahman.

    In 2005, kundalini came to visit. Then 4 times more. As my nervous system struggled to manage, the mind struggled with the questions of sanity. It was exhausting. I , like Adyashanti, found myself hooked into a relationship that was really not right. I think I was looking for a bypass without knowing I was bypassing. D. And I had some good times, some bad times. But I was warned that if I got involved with a person who is not on a spiritual path, it would become codependant, and it did. I was discarded in Nov. last. And I am really struggling to find a place in the world again.

    • @dikidok9455
      @dikidok9455 9 лет назад +5

      +pavanatanaya Yes. Your experience ressembles mine... The struggle stopped for me when i realized that "questions of sanity" and all kinds of holding on to what i knew at that moment in time is simply useless and just brings on more suffering.
      The fact is : when the time comes, our hearts make a leap forward. No warnings. Something just shifts and your mind is left with the consequences : life doesn't feel the same any more - what brought you pleasure, now doesn't - people you appreciated suddenly make you uncomfortable... And there is your mind, confronted with a reality seen through a whole different prisma.
      Of course, we've been taught to fight it. To disect, analyse and try to fix it all - that is, to bring it back to what we consciously know, and thus lay it to rest thinking "ok, problem solved". And when this doesn't work, we just try again and again which simply brings disorientation and suffering.
      Whereas the only true and productive way to face a spiritual shift is to take a step back and let things unfold. Try to get yourself out of the way and observe... observe every situation and yourself in it. For instance, if something that was OK before is uncomfortable now, do not fight it : when it is happening, do not try to make it something it is not, do not play a role, just observe all sides and aspects, live the moment fully. And then, when you're alone, listen to your gut feeling about it.
      Adya often said that "awakening is a destructive process". Of course it is... but with it happening gradually, there is no reason for it to be painful any more... The heart's shifts will happen when the time comes. It's up to us whether we will barricade ourselves in our mind-castles and try to fight it off (which is useless in the end), or whether we will welcome them as friends who are bringing wonderful knews from another world.

      +pavanatanaya I have had kundalini syndrome since 2007. It is quite the beast. I found a healer who has worked wonders for me in smoothing out the energetic upheaval, and much more besides. I am fortunate; most energy healers are not that good and end up doing more damage than good. My mind struggles with questions of everlasting anxiety over my bodily safety (fear of pain, torture, being pushed beyond my physical limits, one might say the universal suffering of all humans who have gone through such things).
      It's helpful to know that you found a relationship with someone who is not on a spiritual path to be unworkable. I have not attempted to start a relationship since the beginning of this experience and felt as though starting one would cause problems, but doubted myself. Now I see that I would probably need to find someone who has somewhat of a similar background in order to make things work, as lonely as I get sometimes, or as inadequate as I feel around others who have supposedly 'advanced' beyond me in their lives, especially in my 30s when everyone is getting married and having children.

      In a perfect world, yes. But the paradox of the spiritual path is that I need to do a lot of work to drop the "I" and let Grace descend. At least, that has been my experience and that of almost everyone I know on the path. I don't think Adya's Direct Path approach is that effective for most people. I tried to do it for years - try without trying, etc. It got me nowhere, not even to realizing there was nowhere to go and all the other cliches...

    Reading through the comments on this and similar videos, sometimes I wonder if the real appeal of these non-duality teachings is the secret thought that we might also become admired gurus like Adya, Mooji, Tolle, etc. That is why the ego tolerates it, I suspect.

    • @sathya999
      @sathya999 9 лет назад

      delcapslock100 By "secret thought" I guess you mean sub-conscious. When these types of thoughts can be seen (there are no words or voices, just a "knowing") it can help to cut through conditioned patterns.
      It feels like, with most "seekers" that they are looking for an end to suffering. There are plenty of teachers out there (not pointers to truth but teachers for mind) who hold out carrots, so to speak, which add to this confusion. But there are also a growing number of pointers to the truth of being, such as Adya, Rupert Spira, Jac O'Keeffe, Karl Renz who tell the truth about awakening and what it can and cannot "give".
      The seeking of truth keeps the seeker alive, but this is not often seen (apparently)...

    • @squamish4244
      @squamish4244 9 лет назад

      delcapslock100 I think there's a bigger reason. The non-dual teachers tend to play down the amount of hard work that goes into the path, or their own extraordinary karma (or good fortune, whatever you want to call it) that was key in the relative ease of their own awakenings, and often the direct transmission of a guru that was absolutely critical in many of their paths . They have been severely criticized by the more traditional schools for this.
      Indeed, I worry that they have created a generation of people who think that basic self-inquiry is all they have to do to get enlightened, when most of us lack the basic mental stability to even do self-inquiry. I think in 20 or 30 years when highly systematized and technological paths to enlightenment exist, the non-dual craze will be regarded as a brief and unfortunate cul-de-sac in the development of modern spirituality.

    • @delcapslock100
      @delcapslock100 9 лет назад +2

      valinor100 that's what seems to be missing - any testimony from anyone other than the gurus themselves that they have experienced a true awakening. Instead all I see is the carrot and stick effect, where the awakened followers are referred to vaguely but never specifically, and everyone else is "on the right path" but never at the destination.

    • @squamish4244
      @squamish4244 9 лет назад +2

      delcapslock100 Yes, exactly. Tami Simon once pressed Adyashanti to provide actual numbers on how many people he had met who were waking up. At first he stumbled a bit and tried to slip out of answering the question, but she kept on him and he said, "Hundreds." Well, that may be, but that's still a fraction of the tens of thousands of people he had met by that point.
      They also use weasel terms like "It takes as long as it takes," and "If you ask how long it will take, it will take longer," etc. That's all very Zen, but also a great way to avoid hard questions about your success rate.
      Believe me, there are many people out there, especially of the younger generation of practitioners, who are severely disillusioned by all this tail-chasing (myself included). I've read too many stories of people who have been grinding away at the path for 20-30 years and haven't gotten anywhere, so we're interested in a radical overhaul of the whole thing. I'm part of a growing movement called Consciousness Hacking, you might want to check it out.

    Why do I want to be awaken? Because I want to live my true self, I don't want to live as a puppet.

    • @k1mpman
      @k1mpman 5 лет назад +4

      If you're seeking liberation I'd suggest the book "I am" written about Nisargadatta Maharaj. It's very profound. In short, who is it that seeks to live its true self? The answer to that question is what is hindering you. It's funny because that's you in third person, which you experience from first person. Whatever is the experience of that is what is hindering you. The very mind that seeks is what is standing in the way. It's sticky, sticks itself to our surroundings and identifies to keep itself permanent, like a parasite. Remove the stickiness and shrink/quiet it and this "gap" he speaks of in this video will appear.

      The riddle is that who you think you are never existed outside of thought...haha

    • @hydrogenroar
      @hydrogenroar 8 лет назад

      Soy Eso My point is there is no path to figuring out a riddle. Self-realization is a riddle in which the answer to the riddle is already known. Yes, the "apparent person" is just a thought but whose thought? In self-realization who does the realizing? We are pure awareness but pure awareness doesn't have thoughts nor does it need to realize itself because it is self-knowing. So it turns out liberation is for the benefit of that thought entity and the source of that thought is the source of all known things. "Isvara" is one name for it.

    • @sathya999
      @sathya999 8 лет назад

      Andy, Yes, I liked your fun question (previous comment). If it is seen that there is only the ONE playing as emptiness dancing, or all possibilities, then "who" indeed can be enlightened or liberated? I agree that thought entities than hijack awakening. Yes, part of the infinite unfolding of consciousness

    • @CaptainPhilosophical
      @CaptainPhilosophical 8 лет назад

      "I" (a body-mind-spirit compex) believe we are all one consciousness experiencing itself subjectively. Since "I" am a singularity in the infinite "I" can only, as Bucky Fuller put it, apprehend events non-simultaneously. What this means for me is, as new information is revealed to my body-mind-spirit complex a new map of the world must be created. Since I cannot apprehend all off the infinite possibilities simultaneously I must rely on my map. The answer to the riddle seems to me to be as Korzybski said "the map is not the territory".

    • @sathya999
      @sathya999 8 лет назад

      Who you are IS all of the infinite possibilities.
      There is no "we". There are no riddles for who you are, only for who you "think" you are...

    People didn't think the world was flat. That's a modern myth employed to denigrate the past, in favour of the present. To any sailor or fisherman it was always obvious the planet's surface was curved (see a ship's mast before anything else).

    • @BananaBug

      Adrian Grant heh lol well then how come pretty much all the explorers belived it and and any map from the time was for a flat earth and heck why is there so much documentation across the globe of people wrighting about the earth and refering to it as flat and why are there records of the persoction of people who claimed it to be round and why dose everywhere i go seem to be completally flat and have you seen a ship dissapear into the distance???
      Unless its a massive ship, theres no waves and the sky is clear as space, then no it just fades into the distance

    The other type of message doesn’t say “don’t do all that” it says it’s got nothing to do with awakening and it doesn’t matter if it happens or not .. it’s just striving which is like striving for anything in life just named a spiritual search lol.. or meditating which affects experience but again doesn’t make any more difference than taking a drug… so just get to the point I say, be honest that seeking is simply irrelevant… but it’s bound to happen and it doesn’t matter if it does.. it’s ok..
    To say be authentic to what is arising in yourself is the same as saying just ‘be yourself’ and there’s not much to that.
    Plus it’s not like the ‘teacher’ has the goal of awakening people. It’s not possible to awaken anyone, but it’s just that might happen if they are hearing that seeking is part of experiencing, part of the illusory effects and has no relevance but also it’s not wrong to seek, go ahead..

    So wait a minute this doesn't just happen (awakening)I think this has just happened to me, so others are trying to awaken why me?how did this happen, what did it was it God? Was it unconsciously myself?I do know for sure one thing its a long confusing but amazing journey! I wished the whole world would awaken so I wont feel so alone anymore,I feel like I don't belong here anymore,if someone hasnt really struggled maybe they will not be able to handle the journey

      If you still feel there is an Real ''I", you haven't awakened, the individual does everything, everything to save itself, if you feel alone, there is still a duality there, check out Jim Newman, maybe it will help to dissolve all there is.

    If you listen to Tony Parsons and then to other teachers it is very odd. Tony refuses to acknowledge any personal "you". He only acknowledges the whole, no-thing. In essence there is no "you", so how can one be true to oneself or not?

    He's probably the most overrated guru around, not the least bit esoteric or profound. He psychologizes the Truth. He misses the mark. Spirituality is simply uniting one's soul (or consciousness) with Spirit, or Shakti, which is Light-Energy.
