I'm really like this one. Terry Malloy is my favorite Davros and Colin Baker is hilarious in this. "Can't say team without saying tea!"
Oddly, the comparison I'd make with this is The Simpsons episode "The Old Man and Lisa" where Mr Burns ends up losing his money and gets into recycling.
He's genuinely trying to make good, puts Lisa's face over everything because she inspired him, except his mind doesn't work that way so his version of "recycling" is killing all the fish in the sea and recycling them into a slurry.
Lisa has the great quote "You're evil, and when you're trying to be good you're even more evil!"
That's a pretty solid comparison actually.
I haven’t watched yet but I hope you read this because it’s serious and important.
I just wanna say THANK YOU, thank you so much for helping me with my medical problem: anxiety. Anxiety is different for different people but for me, one day I was on holiday and it caused me to have a heart attack because I was panicking, I was rushed to hospital and my survival chance was 15% (roughly) as they said I was so young for a heart attack (I’m almost 17) and I stayed in the hospital, few days later I was rushed to a different hospital and was put in adult intensive care. I was the youngest, I walked in and it was overweight men over the age of 60 and long story short this relates to you because, my anxiety makes me panic and overthink, at night if it’s quiet or silent I struggle to sleep. I have to be listening to music or watch a video, I listen to YOUR videos and they help me stay calm and be able to sleep. So thank you for constantly making content. I’ll always be a fan! It would mean the universe if you replied!
I’m glad you’re Ok. It must have been Terrifying. I hope you’ll keep well and remember that there are people who care. Doctors, Nurses, Family, Friends. I’m so glad that these videos help.

Wow. It’s hard to know what to say, but thank you for sharing that. I’m glad that you pulled through and are still with us, and if these videos have helped make things a little better for you, then I am beyond touched. Stay strong!
I enjoy seeing a not negative doctor who video at the moment. Can't we just wait til Jodie has a few episodes out to look at to judge her Doctor. Overall I enjoy this review a lot.
Best use of Davros ever. I wish Lance Parkin would write more Big Finish audios. There are some really fine 6th Doctor stories out there on CD... Some of his 'Missing Stories' are great. 'Leviathan' and 'The First Sontarans' are very impressive and almost made it onto TV.
I love this review, and I'm so glad there are people experiencing the early Big Finish audios for the first time and loving them as much as fans did when they were released. I've only been listening to Big Finish for a few years but I've come to love their Doctor Who audios as much as I do the Classic series and the New series. Thanks for reviewing Davros, it's one of my all time favourite pieces of Doctor Who media, it's so grim and yet it really makes you see the character of Davros in a different light. Great video!
Listen to "The Juggernaut" it very well be my favorite Davros episode, and it opened my eyes to how great Mel is as a companion and character in general.
To defeat real life monsters you must understand them. An important aspect of understanding real life monsters is to recognize that they have human motivations, in other words to recognize they are human beings. In my view it is an important thing to humanize monsters, this is NOT the same thing as excusing their evil, it is merely understanding WHY they are evil.
I like how some of the ideas that are presented in this helps to bridge the gap between how Davros appears in Resurrection and Revelation of the Daleks.
Have you heard anything with Evelyn yet? She's one of the best companions in my opinion
He's heard Jubilee
I loved all three stories in this trilogy, but if i was forced (with a blaster to my head) to rank them, i think it's be Omega, Master, Davros. But it's extremely close.
It's been great these videos getting me used to new Doctor Who content on a Sunday, all ready for next week.:)
Have you seen the season 11 first look?
I love this story. It's very well done and Terry is great as always. He's my favorite version of the character. I actually met him a few years back, nice fellow. He did a great panel with Colin Baker where they both talked about playing villians, as Colin had played baddies before becoming the Doctor. Oh, and btw, Big Finish did a whole mini-series with him as Davros that delved into his past life on Skaro. It's called "I, Davros".
I personally think Julian Bleach’s portrayal is the best portrayal of Davros to date
07:52 To a certain extent, I would say that applies to modern iterations of Magneto. Plus they've pushed him down the "anti-hero" road for far too many years. Even in the films, they couldn't seem to make him an outright villain.
It is set in 4600 AD, ten years after the classic story resurrection of the daleks. This story takes place before the story revelation of the daleks. You should listen to the I,Davros series which takes place before genesis. The first part depicts a 16 year old Davros and takes place after events seen in the magicians apprentice and the witches familiar,in which we met a young Davros.
The Magicians Apprentice/familiar doesn't acknowledge I, Davros though
@@meris8486 I,Davros is canon and the Davros we see in the series 9 two partner is around ten years old,set six years prior to part one of the audio story. The next three parts details an older Davros, his accident, meeting nyder and the beginnings of his daleks project, ending 18 months before genesis of the daleks.
Paul Ure Council of Geeks has a review out for I, Davros. I’d assume that means he’s listened to it.

Only the first part their are 4
I really want to know what started the war between the Kaleds and the Thals in the first place.
The implication has always been that it’s something stupid. That’s why no one remembers.
The reason wars always start. Someone wanted something, someone else wouldn’t negotiate and desperation or stupidity led to violence.
What made the Nazis more frightening is that they were human beings. The modern trend to dehumanize the Nazi leaders is dangerous. The line between Hitler or Mengele and the rest of us is very fine. It is a single step to cross the line. I am glad that they humanized Davros in this episode.
No you, were right the first time, it is Julian BLEACH :p. Great video
I quite like this story. Great review!
Davros amazing concept
But can overshadow other due to creation connection
"When i press this switch, i will die"
"The poison in that projectile projector, will kill me, in an moment".
@@theoutcastboi "It is a perfect efficient killing machine"
"It will be painless they say. They tell me they know the pain that I am in, as if they could! And that just by pressing this switch, I will end that suffering, forever"
"They say i should be the one to do it. But they are weak
They cannot bring themselves to look at me let alone kill me"
"They hesitate, they fear me, even when I am like this, and they have their perfect, pure, strong bodies, they still fear me. And well they should!"
What are your top 5 favorite movies of all time
I think there's also a bit of Power of the Daleks here. Using the monster as a servant and everything goes horribly inevitably wrong. The question of can you use the force of evil for the purpose of good? Not knowing what they're really dealing with. Same idea recycled many times. Including the direct homage to it in the 11th Doctor's story of Victory of the Daleks. Of course this works to establish his next appearance chronologically in the TV episode Revelation of the Daleks. Understanding evil people as people not 1 dimensional caricatures. Evil people do good things, have redeeming qualities. Doesn't excuse or make up for their choices and actions. Loving your mother. Art. Animals. Your spouse. Lovely wonderful yes sure. Outweigh genocide? Oppression? Bigotry? Cruelty, indifference to other's suffering? Hell no!! That's dangerous too. Been pointed out that everybody is the hero of their own story we tell ourselves about our lives. How we had no choice or the greater good demands we use this necessary evil means for this righteous end. Nobody thinks I want to be evil ( as they think of it) . they justify it somehow someway. A bit of kindness. A bit of mercy perhaps when the mood strikes. Vital to understand temptation to use bad means for a good end. However no end reached via such means can be good. If you'll do it once you can do it again the next tine.
I liked Davros in his first appearance. It was a interesting story idea and a great character. Then he kept coming back. Again. And again. And again. *sigh* I don't think I would have minded so much but for the fact that the Daleks started getting pushed back into the BACKGROUND because of him.
Yeah I think it was a big problem that for a long time it wasn't possible to do a Dalek story without Davros or vice versa.
Does this retcon "I, Davros"?

Since I’ve only done the first part of I, Davros, I’m not sure. It hasn’t as far as I’ve gotten.
Cool, can you keep it up?
Dave ross
I don't see how humanizing a Mengele-esque figure is bad. He was human, and things led him to darkness as well. Mob mentality, and demonization of others from pain.
MJ Red Because in today’s society it is not a big step from humanizing to excusing. He didn’t say it was a bad thing to do he said it was dangerous.
If you can rationalize why someone did something unforgivable it is not that much more of a stretch to rationalize the act itself.
Good story
But it's slow and contradicts I, Davros
Actually, Shan appears in I, Davros
Meris the third story of I, Davros is literally written by the same person who wrote this. It even ties in very well with a few scenes linking in
Doctor who is dead now brother sad times awsome vid
ANONYMOUS PARANORMAL
So... why are you here?
Ur also first so.
