Teams are now playing to that umps weaknesses. I saw a pitcher get 2 strikes on obvious balls, throw the 3-2 pitch to where the last two went, and he called that one ball 4.
Angel Hernandez is the worst umpire in MLB history. He has blown more calls than anybody, including the weatherman ! The only reason they keep him is for entertainment value based on his ability to create an unruly crowd and stir up the fan base. MLB needs him ! $$$$$$$
The thing is, sometimes players have to do this to shake up an umpire so they are more careful next time. But Angel Hernandez was unshakable and probably corrupt.
I’m not a Phillies fan, but I love the intense way Bryce Harper plays the game. I kind of wish Bryce had slugged Angel but that would have likely ended his career…Angel certainly deserved it though!
Umpires in general have really been taking in some extra fees this year - even in youth sports. It's obviously worse than last year in my league and utterly despicable. We've seen severe injuries and crowd fights that could have been avoided by prudent officiating.
They should be able to review this and change the call. Honestly the ump can’t be expected to see what we see in slow motion. This one could go either way if you were standing where the ump was standing.. seeing through his vantage point. It’s really not fair to be so critical if you haven’t been there and done the job.
No repercussions for an Ump that makes that bad of a call and no ability for a manager to challenge the call. Translation bad umpires can control the outcome of a game or series. MLB needs to fire Angel Hernandez and fix the system so umpires aren't above the game.
Bryce Harperbis a highly skilled and very experienced major leaguer....he wouldn't walk down an umpire unless he was absolutely sure of his complaint agsinst him.....others know this as well and the replay supports his outrage~😮
