You touched on the very heart of collecting comics.....the memories are what matters. No apologies necessary for your top two picks. In a world where dollars seem to rule the day, you touched us all.
My heart sank when you said it. I’m a Christian, and it’s all good if you’re not, but sending some prayers to your family. This is beautiful tribute to wonderful childhood memories with your brother. Be blessed and you for being real on such a tough subject.
You had me tearing up man. Comics are so much more than their values for resale. The memories and internal values is what makes them so special. Thank you for sharing this with us ❤️
I fully understand your attachment to Wolverine #1 and the memories it brings. My Dad started buying comic books for me in the early 60's even though I could barely read but enjoyed the pictures. He passed away 41 years ago and although I no longer had any of those books I started collecting slabbed copies of the ones I remember that he bought for me in the 60's, mostly early Marvels.
I will reiterate what I hope most comments on this video will be. You have captured the true essence of collecting comic books, they hold such an emotional attachment, I thank you for being open and honest with your feelings about your collection of books. I really think these feelings of our youth attached to any given book is something that is very much tied to our generations. Moving forward I really don't think that kids will really have these experiences. I appreciate you sharing such heartfelt emotions, about these books and your brother. This community we belong to is truly a special place, I am thankful to be a part of it. Never apologize for your feelings, loss is a terrible thing to go through, they are yours and you should be proud of them and your memories. Secondary the glow and joy on your face and your comments with the last 3 leading up to is are also a huge part of collecting and owing these treasures. Your best video to date!
Glad you got to share that story about your brother's book. Those are the stories that mean so much, and there is seldom the appropriate chance to get to tell them in a meaningful way.
Awesome Top 50! You had me teary-eyed at the end. Certain items are simply irreplaceable or worth more than all the money in the world due to the memories attached to them. Take care and may he rest in peace
Much appreciate this video! Me personally, half the enjoyment of you and others in this space is hearing you guys get into your modes and ramble. And don't ever apologize for getting too emotional. These are the things that make this hobby important to us. It's the memories and emotions mixed with a little bit of the thrill of the chase! Keep the content coming! We're here for you!
I feel like you are one of the most genuine RUclipsrs that I’m subscribed to on here. I have been devouring all of your vids for the past few weeks and just finished watching this one. What great books associated with memories I’m sure you’ll never forget. Well done man.
I Would like to tell you that I think you are a truly honest collector of the Hobby, I enjoyed your top 50, I will say I have a collection that is over 500,000 in value, but my favorite books are my Jim Lee X-MEN #1 and X-FORCE #1 and my brother got those books with me, are first books. My brother Peter was my best friend and my best man in my wedding. Unfortunately he passed away when he was 19 in a car accident. I do appreciate and understand how you Feel. Keep doing your thing, you are my favorite comic book channel because you collect because of the love of the book. I will keep watching and keep doing what you are doing. Thanks Paul Strange And yes that is really my last name, my wife is almost a doctor, she is Nurse Practitioner ( FYI, I accidentally sent this to Alex the comic book hoarder, He great to)
Sweet collection you have!! It will only get better for sure!! Thank you for watching and commenting on my top 100 best books in my collection. I need to update since this was done a while back. Thumbs up!!!
Thanks for sharing your top 50, and for sharing the story of your #1 book. "And what is the significance of this," your trademark question, was answered nicely.
I just want to say it’s the personal attachment and the meaning behind certain books that make the collecting worth it. Your observation on how it brought back memories did it for me also brought back my oldest memory of my brother taking me on the train to Manhattan to go get comics and I remember having my first book werewolf #3 I see that book and I always remember that day and the special time I had with my older brother
Absolutely amazing collection, brother! Had me tearing up at the end there! Thank you for sharing the story about your Wolverine 1 and your brother. Truly a special book for you. And I agree, when you have a book like that with a story so special behind it, it’s truly the most rarest thing in your collection and can never be replaced. Thank you again for opening up and sharing. 🙏🏽
You did it right... awesome list. So often, love is not expressed publicly but rather kept inside and locked away in memories. Thanks for sharing your love and showing that the hobby is so much more than the thrill of a hunt or a quick flip, it's a window into your soul and a real piece of you. Now... go put those two in some mylar!
I had the exact same reaction to Darkhawk on the rack. My LCS already had it marked up as well, I think it was $3.50 and I had to have a serious internal conversation with myself if I was going to blow almost all of my $5 allowance. So glad I did. I went on to collect the other 49, the annuals and even the Marvel Age. I think we'll see him in the MCU at some point. And don't apologize for your emotion, it comes through on each and every video you do, your genuine passion for the hobby is a major part of your charisma and success.
Very touching reminder of your brother. I got into comic collecting over the pandemic and it brought it back to great memories of my dad. He loved comics and it reminded of buying comics and watching shows like Spider Man the 90s animated cartoon. X Men animated series and Batman the animated series with him. Miss him everyday but always have the memories. Keep up the great work and congrats again on your channel's success.
This really hit for me! My love for comics is shared with my brother as well starting from childhood and they're certain books that we hold dear and has nothing to do with value but everything to do with our childhood. Thank you so much for sharing!
Not cringy at all! Very touching. I have three older brothers and they all collected comics. None have passed on, but I do keep all their comics at my house now. I've never thought about it, but one day I'm sure I will be in a similar situation where looking through them will bring back a flood of memories. Just thinking of the eventuality makes me teary eyed, so I fully understand why you feel the way you do and it's a very nice sentiment. Thanks for all the great content! I've picked up a handful of books based on your recommendation that shot up in value shortly after.
Started watching your channel recently and love your content. This one, in particular, made me tear up and affirmed why I got into the hobby in the first place. I remember as a kid walking into my local LCS near my grandmothers house (really just a big bookstore in the Philippines) before there was internet and would read all the Spider-Man, Marvel, and Archie comics I could get my hands on. I didn’t get into collecting again until just recently before she passed away because it brings me back to a time when I would come back to my grandmothers house with a small stack of comics in my grandparents basement. There’s still a smell of old comic books that transport me to my grandparents house.
I love your philosophy on what a favorite comic book is. RIP to your brother. I hope you and your loved ones arre happy and healthy in these rough times.
A lovely collection, filled with great memories and history. Your emotional response just shows how much it's been part of your life and was very touching, stay strong and keep collecting!
I saw the sparkle in your eyes when you talking about your favorite comicbook. I saw it coming, at first I was alittle excited because Wolverine is my favorite character. But I noticed it hit different for you, I can see why you got into this hobby.. Sorry for your loss bro..🙏 I want that type of relationship with my son, show him how fun and different it can be to start collecting. The feeling of opening a package or finding comics at your local shop. Yeah that would cool to share that with him...
Your #1 book touched my heart man.. I think that’s the best way to hold value to a book, not a price but the personal story of the book and what it means to you. Had me tearing up not gonna lie.
My favourite top 50 comics video by far. In truth, the stories & sentimental value is far greater than price value; priceless memories attached with objects that brought us joy since early age is a wonderful feeling. Awesome top 3, friend. Amitābh
I really enjoyed your video as it had a lot of heart in it.You hit the nail right on the head as there is an emotional weight to some of our books in our collections.Thank you for being so honest with us here on RUclips. You got to the very heart of collecting and for that I thank you.
Amazing video. A touching tribute. There are certain “things” that we own that are related to people, places, or times in our life that allow them to transcend their physical form. I have a couple of things of my dad’s like that. Thanks so much for sharing.
this was one of my favorite youtube videos to watch. So sorry for your loss man. I have a brother 1 year older than me and I would be devastated. Please keep up the content man. you rock.
My baby brother and I talk comics every day. Family is everything. You always keep it real in your videos but this video made me tear up man. Keep going strong and God bless! You’re the best at what you do. You’re bro would be proud
I just lost my dad a few weeks ago and my most favorite memories are in the comic store with him as a young man. This video was touching and i completely understand your affinity to wolverine 1. My dad gave me that same book for Christmas one year. Wolverine 1, silver surfer 50, and Harbinger 1 (with coupon). Much love brother
I think it's awesome that your top 2 books have such sentimental value - which is more important than all the money in the world. My top 5 favorite is actually your #50 - Thor #390. I've had it since it first came out. When I sold my collection, that was one of the few books I didn't want to part with. I commend you and there's nothing wrong with getting emotional - family is important esp when it's close family.
Dude the Darkhawk #1 surprised me so much! It's one of my favorites too and I have the entire collection of that first run! Sorry to hear that about your brother. I too bought Todd McFarlane's Spiderman #8 cover because it's the oldest memory I have of my brother as a kid having a postcard of that issue
Really sorry to hear about your brother....awesome that you have those memories and the books still. Loved the video. What comics is all about for sure
Swagglehaus, thank you for this video. Thank you for being raw and honest. We all feel how much that #1 means to you and that's part of what makes this hobby what it is. You have an item you can always look at which will always bring those memories. Much love to you man, you're awesome.
20:52 Absolutely. Those top 3 are family heirlooms and deserve to go in a vault. Two involving an experience with your dad and the other a symbol of your brother. 🙌
This is why Comics can be so Special and Unique. Great collection and most of all thank you for sharing your memories which are greater than anything. Prayers out to you and your family.
Great video! I truly feel the way you valued the top 3 is the best way to do it. Just got my kids in to starting their collections and I love watching them discover new books and characters, they especially love the Bronze Age and 90’s books that we grew up with.
I don’t know what my top 50 are but my top 5 are Giant size x-men 1 (9.0) Hulk 181 (8.0) Fantastic four 48 (8.0) Amazing Spider-Man 1 (1.5) X-men 4 (6.0) Fantastic four 49 (8.0) Daredevil 1 (3.0)
Love this. I have some high value books, but the Hulk Future Imperfect series is my favorite. Got it off the shelf and got lucky to meet George Perez and have him sign it right after it came out. The books are very well read, worth almost nothing, but I spent hours looking at it, finding Waldo, looking at the trophy room, and love it. This is what the hobby is about! Great stuff bud!
Amazing Top 50 and story man. The connective tissue that is comic books really is amazing, but its the people holding the comics, like your brother and his memory, that is the most amazing part.
Absolutely love this video. What a tribute to your brother. That Wolverine number one happens to be one of my favorites as well. I started collecting around 1988 and Wolverine was my favorite character so I can definitely relate to your bro.
DUDE. I absolutely loved seeing this video! Seeing Carnage's 1st appearance all the way up there, and Dark Hawk #1!? Dark Hawk and Carnage were some of my favorites growing up(along with Nightcrawler and Iceman). I loved Dark Hawk so much so, that my mom made me a halloween costume of him! I wish I had pictures of it to show haha. So sorry to hear about your brother. My brother has always been a huge comic book nerd, I stopped collecting pretty early on, but have gotten back into comic news and such thanks to him. He showed me this video. Thanks for sharing.
Great video Swag. Beautiful moment with Wolverine #1. Comics and collectibles keep us tied to important moments in our histories. Thanks for you for sharing yours.
Loved the video - never apologize for being authentic and real. What a lovely tribute to your brother - everything you said is true. The memories and the nostalgia that comes from items in our collections is priceless. Thank you for the list and your honesty. Keep up the great work!
Sorry about your brother but at least you have something special you both shared and enjoyed and continue to do to keep him in your memories. I bet he wouldn't believe the PC you have today, Great Top 50.
Love my collection and love others loving their collections! Watched you go through this like a little kid anxious to see the next one. Bravo my friend, well done.
Your top 50 is impressive. If not for the variety of titles, and years that it spans but the fact that you don't seem to have focused on slabbing and grading. I still have my collection from when I was a teenager in the '80s and it's been close to 15 years since I've gone through them. My fond memory isn't coming home from the comic shop with a bag full of titles but it's catching my dad in the basement reading them afterwards. It became our thing and at times he seemed more excited than I did when I came home with more. Looks like it's a good time to crack open all of those boxes and take a stroll down memory lane... (Subscribed)
Really Great video. Thank you for sharing. Your top 50 was by far the most genuine of all videos I have seen thus far. What you displayed is what comic collecting is ALL About!
My favorite video of yours so far. Great list.... Just goes to show some things are just not replaceable. I'm sure collecting helps to keep the spirit of the quest alive that you must have shared together. Sorry for your loss.
You touched on the very heart of collecting comics.....the memories are what matters. No apologies necessary for your top two picks. In a world where dollars seem to rule the day, you touched us all.
I second this
Amen.

Love that line up. Journey into mystery 183 first enchantress. Awesome cover. I dervalued gem.
Love a lot of those. Captain 100 ASMs x men keys. Etc.
Glad you got to share that story about your brother's book. Those are the stories that mean so much, and there is seldom the appropriate chance to get to tell them in a meaningful way.

Thanks Desired. Glad you enjoyed it!
Great video. Thanks for accepting my call out challenge. The #1 book story was awesome. I totally get that emotional connection.

Wow man great video! Def brought a tear to my eyes. Shows some things are more important than money.😊
Dude, Darkhawk 1 was my favorite book I bought. I was so proud of it. I actually just bought a copy 3 days ago. Love it.
BRB i think i have something in my eye. Great collection swag.
My most prized comic is definitely not my most valuable: ASM 200. It was the first book my dad bought me when I was a kid. Another great vid, man.
I had the exact same reaction to Darkhawk on the rack. You have a sweet collection I’m jealous LOL
My condolences

Wonderful video, wonderful connection to your memories. Never apologize for showing honest emotions.Well done sir!
Sorry about your brother but at least you have something special you both shared and enjoyed and continue to do to keep him in your memories. I bet he wouldn't believe the PC you have today, Great Top 50.
Great content and PC. How about a top 5 Ghost Rider? Love those videos...
The best and most meaningful Top 50 comics I’ve seen - thank you for sharing 😊
Love my collection and love others loving their collections! Watched you go through this like a little kid anxious to see the next one. Bravo my friend, well done.
Thanks for sharing your stories and collection. My top comics also have meaning and memories attached to them and aren't really keys.
