The Lacanian Unconscious (3 of 4): "Language speaks through us"

Two of Lacan's proclamations about the unconscious locate us in this talk, which serves to further explore the unconscious. The first of these concerns the idea that what is most scandalous about the unconscious is not that it exists or that it might be subversive. What is most scandalous is that the unconscious utilizes rational symbolic operations (is "structured like a language"). The second is the assertion that "the status of the unconscious is not ontological but ethical", an idea which suggests that we engage the unconscious as a vehicle of cure or subjective transformation, rather than as a positive feature or object to be studied.

Even though this is the shortest lecture of the whole series of videos about lacanian unconscious, I believe that this one is fully packed with useful information that helps (me) understand some of the esencial notions about lacan's work especially the ones that the greater part of the psychoanalytic community assume as understood by everyone, so to speak, and thus they dont elaborate further about them ("the unconscious does not exist"; "the unconscious is the discourse of the other"; "the unconscious as negative and not as a positive/biological entity" and so on)
Thank you very much for your work, I certainly love your teaching style and for someone that is not that familiarized with Lacan (and also some of Freud's work) this series of mini lectures are spectacular. Cheers!
