The 2020-21 Illusions Basketball base set has 200 total cards. Among them are 50 rookies.
Parallels come 19 total levels. Some of the rare - Gold (/10), Green (/5) and Purple (1/1) - are exclusive to hobby packs. Blasters are the only place to find Emerald and Ruby versions. Orange and Teal can only be found in retail fat packs.
Starlight is another retail-exclusive. Although not numbered, according to Panini, these are tough.
Autographs and Inserts
Across the entire 2020-21 Panini Illusions Basketball checklist there are five different autograph inserts.
First Impressions Jersey Autographs not only have signatures from 39 rookies, but these are the only cards in the product with memorabilia.
They’re hobby-exclusives along with Superlative Signatures and Rookie Retro Signatures, which is actually dedicated to vets and greats.
The two remaining autograph sets, Trophy Collection Signatures and Rookie Signs, are in retail packs.
Acetate inserts are one of the defining features of the Illusions brand, not just in basketball. These can be found at both the hobby and retail levels at fairly regular intervals. Hobby boxes have five. Every Mega Box has a pair of Sapphire acetate cards while blasters have one Emerald version. The clear inserts fall approximately 1:4 fat packs as well in the form of Orange parallels.
As far as themes go, they include Amazing, Clear Shots, Living Legends, Mystique, and Shining Stars.
Going further down the insert hole, Career Lineage, Instant Impact, Rookie Reflections and Season Highlights are retail-exclusives.
