- A Video long in the making about Final Fantasy 8 Mods! These are mostly tested on Final Fantasy 8 Remastered version, but some of them do also work on FF8 (2013) version on steam. yeah, there is mods for every single final fantasy entry probably, if they are on PC that is.
Mods are big with final fantasy. They bring such life to these older games. Def recommend checking them out.
I think one of the most important thing to fix in that port is the characters faces. Personnaly i don't recognize Squall at all. They probably tried to appeal younger player but i felt betray.
At least, I see i'm not the only one thinking that in the commentary section.
The new faces are the reason I never play the remaster. That guy is not Squall.

You mean that his face is slightly different to his ingame CGI? I kind of got used to his new look. The other models however are really 100% like their CGI/OG artwork models

Just found out about the mods for FF games the other day... FF12 has some fantastic ones. Sadly the guy who did the ReReMaster Texture Pack, I wanted to go thank him, but he hid all his mods, and said, "So Long Leechers". Too bad there aren't mods for egoist wankholes to modify their crappy attitudes... Like if you're doing it for praise, you're doing it for the wrong reasons. I literally wanted to go thank him... but whatever. Respect to the modders that do this for the love of what they do, and enjoy sharing it and making games better for everyone.
Was it one he was making money of? If so, it doesn't sound like egotism, it just sounds like a response to people bypassing payment. "So long leechers" doesn't immediately strike me as an ego problem.
Just played an entire playthrough of FF7 with texture upgrades, character models, and Tsuna mods voice acting and it honestly. It was amazing. I really hope they can update it for the FF8 remaster.
Actually thought someone had done mods for the PSX version like people has done for the Resident Evil game on PSX.
Can someone explain why install demaster first?...Why not just get the non-remastered then if we have to demaster first?

@5:21 holy cow, that looks really good :O. I'm not usually one for AI upscaling, but... they.... did a really damn fine job here!
We kinda got lucky that lot of games from this Era used pre-rendered backgrounds, they are so easy to upscale.
We are still actively working on it, but this is already playable and is perfect for a new run!
@@SugiJRPG allot of it looks pretty bad when upscaled through AI. Especially when it comes to patterns and finer details. Honestly, there aren't that many pre-rendered backgrounds. An artists could trace/redraw them and scan them in 4k resolution quite easily. Would probably take a year or so. Even less time of the was more than one doing it.
@@themonsterunderyourbed9408 I can't speak for methology what McIndus was doing here, but you can re-draw certain points in this upscale, which might be something that weren't done with everything.
But your methodology is good way as well.
I think that of all I liked most is the voice over mod, since I don't have much of a problem with the graphical appearance and I prefer the original music of the game.
I am curious to know if there is any way to download and play the newer version of ff8 on ps1 emulators.
No, but with most PS1 emulators u can upscale resolution, the game will look better than 2013 PC version likely

Thanks! Unfortunately Squall doesn't look like Squall at all in the Remastered version so I guess I either won't replay until there's a full remake or I'll just play my old version with an emulator :)

Theres a few. Some that remove the limit of items and theres a remaster project in the works. Check out Severed Chains. Theyve been at it for years now and i think they recently got a working reverse engineered pc version running

I really wish someone would mod in 360 analog support and the 60 fps battle menus. Those things really break the pc ports of psx ff games for me
60 FPS on battle is not great, it looks bad on FF7 and also on FF9... speaking from experience. Dunno about X360 tho, coz I played with Xbox Series X controller myself

Succession should get some mentions in the comments. Some people might not like how elements were changed but it completely changed how I felt about the games story.

Wish someone did a translation mod for the game. The translations are unnecessarily awful and heavily censored.
squall is a lot more bland in english and the translations derived from it sadly i have not found any mod that properly translates it from japanese :(
The mod Succession might be the closest thing your looking for. Played it awhile back and I highly recommend it.
@@Volundr60 Is that the one where they literally removed the entire flashback sequences, because they thought it didn’t make sense?
@@Aelvir114 It didnt remove those, but it did removed the amnesia twist. Its a near complete script overhaul that, to me, told the story in a much better way then the original did. I always like the original and played through it too many times to count, but it suffered from that time period of anime, manga, and video games getting poor english translations.
Square enix are so damn lazy with these HD remasters. Im grateful for modders, but it shouldnt be up to them to do this

I just can't stand the framerate of menus. Older pc version 15fps in battle and 30fps for the remastered version. Why did they base the remaster in the pc version??? At least they could have fixed that issue. For this I think psx version is so much better and is the one I play.
Battle FPS is problematic, they movements look super wierd if they are sped up too much. Menus i understand 100% and worldmap. FF7 and FF9 especially look very odd with anything above 40 FPS
Good video but the AI "art" in your thumbnails is really bad. Please consider a different way to do it. I ignored your videos for while just because of that.
