track cyclist are just much more powerful than road cyclists. Different requirements, just like a weightlifter is much stronger than a middle distance runner
as a track rider i would really like it if gcn did more on track bikes/cycling and I'm sure all the trackies would love that to as me and every other track rider find it impossible to find videos on track cycling that include how to's, maintenance tips etc :(
One has to show respect when a Retired cyclist shows up with a form like that. 3 for 1 has never been more appropriate. I just hope it never occurs GCN to invite Robert Forstemann for a track day. Even a sprinter looks skinny next to him...
+Niels Heldens The guys at Cycling Plus tried that, as a team. Their team managed to beat the world hour record...as it was in the 1890s or something. Truly epic failure - they managed one lap or so at the pace that Wiggo kept up for an hour!
I think GCN Should do a whole video that covers that hand sling, I really want to do it, it looks so fun but I want to know the proper technique, how to mate the hands, and the execution of momentum transfer
There are a number of track-specific skills to learn. The Madison sling is a more advanced technique. If you're interested and there is a velodrome you can access, inquire about track classes.
That's nothing compared to the German track cyclist, his name escapes me right now! someone's will come along and fill me in! His kegs are the biggest I've seen. Apart from those arsehole steroid freek weight lifter types!!!! that guy has an actual use and he's very good apparently.
This is the same old argument mountain bikers make towards road cycling: "It's always the same, nothing ever changes" etc etc I think the pure excitement of the race will probably keep you entertained. The riders, the speed and the tactics change I suppose. This coming from a fellow Roadie by the way :)
I guess the speed would give me a pretty good adrenaline rush, so It might be fun every now and then, but I wouldn't enjoy doing it regularly, I believe it'd get old fast.
Hey guys. Nice job. Do you know where I can find free, outdoor velodrome (in UK). Just bought fixie. Realy want to try it on velodrome. Maybe I can get a full list somewhere?
Looking at the GCN kit, when you haven't checked for zipper visibility, makes it look like you've broken the zipper at the bottom. advise for next kit: get zippers in the colour of the rest of the suit.
Oh my, I was looking at Chris Hoy thinking "He looks so damn familiar!!" Then realised he pretty much does all inductions for PureGym and seen him once at Oxford's Gym.
Wow can't believe that GCN met with Sir Chris Hoy. His body compared to GCN presenters is amazing. I think Chris could be a body builder considering he has such a good muscular body.😎
Haeral you stated your opinion about the looks of sir chris and road cyclists in general, and i basically said that looks mean shit in sports, and was expecting a cycling answer from you. something like: "i prefer track cycling because i find it more interesting"; so that i could say i respect your opinion, but you never really wanted to talk about cycling so, take care...
Haeral damn, you should do politics, you come here, you say probably the most stupid thing about a simple comparasion between track cyclists and road cyclists, and then you call me this and that... i could care less about that stuff, i´m not racist, homophobic, elitist, or any of that shit, i´m just a cycling fanatic that loves to talk about sports in general. but we´re both wasting our time here, you don´t talk about that and i also don´t like to get into keyboard fighting so, like i said before, take care bro...
Matt was so excited from measuring Sir Hoy's guns that he mistakenly reported that they were "1.5 inch bigger than Degenkolb's", which we all know to be wrong since it's Greipel who had the 36.5 inch guns.
Andrew Bedford alastair burnard Maglia Nera thank you all!! good to know, and glad i don't have to be potentially offensive when describing them!! are they traditionally a track/ velodrome motorbike or what?? :)
Thing is, he kinda knows his thighs are huge... 'CAUSE HES STOOD TENSING THEM THE ENTIRE TIME!😂 You see when he moves his right leg at 4:07 he goes from fully tensed to normal. Still bigger than most people, including mine though👍🏻
Nah he wasnt tensing them, thighs actually contract inwards when you tense them, it's a really dramatic and visible motion. That was just him moving his knees a little bit.
I think Chris Hoy needs to have a word with the other three about not missing leg day
Those legs weigh too much for road cycling.
+klarkolofsson probably every weekend warrior's dream
+JohnReviewer112 i think for track more powerful body is a plus due to all the sprinting.
Loooooooool
@@klarkolofsson nah they would be perfect. Dude would be like a Bugatti on a carbon fiber tt bike.
THE SIZE OF HIS LEGS !!
Kay Reezy ikr !!! They're tiny
Kay Reezy You should see my legs lmfao makes his look like sticks. Training on a 14 kg bike will do that to you.
you guys need to do more videos about velodromes.
+G POWER I totally agree !
Yes
Yes, please. #normalizetrackracing
The best part about Chris Hoy's name is that in Swedish, hoj (pronounced like Hoy) is slang for.. a bicycle!
+falafelbleuh in russian it means dick
in Spanish it means "now"
In Dutch it souns like hoi, Which means the same as Hi.
in English it is half a greeting, the other half also being hoy. a-hoy-hoy.
Lol, in spanish it means 'today'
HAHAHA I knew the GCN boys had "roadie" upper bodies (IE scrawny) but next to Chris Hoy they look like they've been on hunger strike for a few months!
Track cyclists are real explosive kind off people.
klarkolofsson sounds like it dude he did a 58 from standstill on his own back on the day. Beast !!
Chris' legs double any of GCN presenter's
Along with weight and aero drag - go skinny or lose
Lmao, what about the tape measure on the guns.....😀
Why is your profile pic a Hitler?
track cyclist are just much more powerful than road cyclists.
Different requirements, just like a weightlifter is much stronger than a middle distance runner
Goriaas That is not true - many track riders are succesful on the road as well and visa versa.
Its all weight to power/endurance-ratios
as a track rider i would really like it if gcn did more on track bikes/cycling and I'm sure all the trackies would love that to as me and every other track rider find it impossible to find videos on track cycling that include how to's, maintenance tips etc :(
Chris Hoy's legs could power a small locomotive
+kiely 456 Chris Hoy's legs could power a small town
Or a bread-toaster..
A toaster for a minute
Just waiting for Matt to forget to keep pedaling the fixie!
+Jonas De Meyer You ride around in an oval for fun and get offended when someone calls your bike a fixie? Huh.
A FIXED GEAR TRACK BICYCLE. Then.
+stoppsi Fixie nascar
+stoppsi A track bike has to be fixed gear, so calling it as such is over the top.
+Jonas De Meyer Who knew that velodrome guys were just as precious as hipsters?
the mineral water thing cracks me up every time
One has to show respect when a Retired cyclist shows up with a form like that. 3 for 1 has never been more appropriate. I just hope it never occurs GCN to invite Robert Forstemann for a track day. Even a sprinter looks skinny next to him...
It's not Tom Last, it's Tom Last's trackie cousin.
Going Jeremy clarkson there aren't we
+zhongshan liu and on that bombshell! Top Gear is looking like the runt of the litter compared to GCN
Should have measured his thighs....DAMN!!!
Chris's quads are gigantic.
Sir Chris has still got good form round the track seeing he's not competing any more. Chapeau Chris
Sir Chris Hoy himself. Legend. Great guy. Great video.
gtn? global track network
+GuessingSucceeds yep. and now he's retired, chris hoy can host it
Lane Williams Sounds good to me!
Sounds legit
omg yes please!
Nope. Not anymore. GTcN perhaps?
GCN why don't you guys try to take on the hour record! It would be an amazing video!!!!
+Niels Heldens The guys at Cycling Plus tried that, as a team. Their team managed to beat the world hour record...as it was in the 1890s or something. Truly epic failure - they managed one lap or so at the pace that Wiggo kept up for an hour!
Yay finally some track cycling videos. Do more please!
Nice stuff lads. Can't believe your channel hasn't got more subscribers. Great tips on everything bike related.
Chris Hoy, What a great rider! Funny video guys!
+Juan Felipe Suárez Arcila A legend thats seems pretty down to earttyh
I think GCN Should do a whole video that covers that hand sling, I really want to do it, it looks so fun but I want to know the proper technique, how to mate the hands, and the execution of momentum transfer
There are a number of track-specific skills to learn. The Madison sling is a more advanced technique. If you're interested and there is a velodrome you can access, inquire about track classes.
look at chris hoy's legs
Holy shit! His legs are huge!
That's nothing compared to the German track cyclist, his name escapes me right now! someone's will come along and fill me in! His kegs are the biggest I've seen. Apart from those arsehole steroid freek weight lifter types!!!! that guy has an actual use and he's very good apparently.
+MG Robert Forstemann?
+Bemo98 yes
+Alec Hoy as Chris said in the video "this is getting a bit weird".
but yeah. I thought Matt was going to measure Chris's legs lol.
Finally some track videos! Please do more!
It was fun to see you guys pushing hard. It was inspiring.
That's why u guyz r.. THE ABSOLUTE BEST!!
Chris needs to work on his thigh muscles.
I'd definitely struggle at a six day. With the bell marking every last lap I'd think it was last orders!
I don't think I could ever ride on a track, I love the scenery and how everything changes when ridding, and you don't really get that on a track.
This is the same old argument mountain bikers make towards road cycling: "It's always the same, nothing ever changes" etc etc
I think the pure excitement of the race will probably keep you entertained. The riders, the speed and the tactics change I suppose. This coming from a fellow Roadie by the way :)
I guess the speed would give me a pretty good adrenaline rush, so It might be fun every now and then, but I wouldn't enjoy doing it regularly, I believe it'd get old fast.
Kevin Jaaaaa, I tend to agree with you. Think racing might have it's perks, maybe the crowds... But training sounds like a boring old day to me
Kevin sure the scenery is familiar, but the adrenaline rush is in another dimension altogether vs. cycling on the road. I am enjoying doing both. =D
Excellent vid, really enjoyed that one. Thumbs up GCN :)
can't wait until TCN comes out. all things track cycling
That looked fun !! That dude is a beast !
Great vid with the great Chris Hoy!
my new fav video. loved the training footage
Love the last orders bell. Superb
I want to see more of this!!! GCN at the Velo
Shame this wasn't longer. Big respect to the legend that is Chris Hoy check out his legs they are bigger than the gcn team combined!
1.11.... Good for an hour. What a laugh! Loving the humour!
Very good!! :) You guys should do more videos on the track!!
Finally GCN has a velodrome video!!!!!
track racing is so fun :)
New cameras, multiple angles.. what's going on here? .. youtube says 1080p but it looks like 4k?
I loved that Chris had to slow down for Matt to give him the push. :-D
Interesting to see something different. I always like the forays into other cycling formats.
I'm a tracky and somehow i can just tell that the're roadies
+ffjmilan ff ha, is it due to their (barring Chris) complete lack of track skills?!
Jesus christ the size of those quads at 4:00 😱😱😱😱😱
More velodrome videos!
Great video guys! Informative and amusing, as usual...
nice gcn love seeing videos on the velo.
I'm a track bike rider. or a fixie rider in downtown Los Angeles and I wanna request if you guys can do a comparison of road and track bikes.
Hey guys. Nice job. Do you know where I can find free, outdoor velodrome (in UK). Just bought fixie. Realy want to try it on velodrome. Maybe I can get a full list somewhere?
When are you going to post the out takes from this ?
Surely there is footage of Matt crashing !!
I thought Chris got his tyres burning but in the end it was only Dan's and Simon's pride.
You Guys need to make more track videos!!
I read the title and laughed my ass off. It was like reading GCN takes on early 80's Mike Tyson.
Sir Chris's bike looked sick had some old school vibes about it shallow wheels skinny frame and those bars were awesome. dose anyone know what it is ?
Love these guys, hilarious!
I've ALWAYS wanted to ride in a velodrome. Sadly there isn't one in my country!
Looking at the GCN kit, when you haven't checked for zipper visibility, makes it look like you've broken the zipper at the bottom. advise for next kit: get zippers in the colour of the rest of the suit.
I love British people . You guys made me laugh a few times.
gcn you guys should do more of these like velodrome tips bc i ride/race in the velodrome and it would be cool
Brilliant, I want a go.
Great video!
a moment of appreciation for Chris Hoy's quads...
Oh my, I was looking at Chris Hoy thinking "He looks so damn familiar!!" Then realised he pretty much does all inductions for PureGym and seen him once at Oxford's Gym.
“Mineral water” 😂😂😂😂
Would love to see more track on gcn
what saddles are the gcn boys using on their track bikes?
5:46 - Not the first time Si's appeared on screen with a massive bell!
Chris's quads are freakin massive
new camera, boys? HD and very impressive quality.
Wow can't believe that GCN met with Sir Chris Hoy. His body compared to GCN presenters is amazing. I think Chris could be a body builder considering he has such a good muscular body.😎
Sir Chris has more muscle than the 3 of you put together.
But sir chris hoy would take 10 hours to do a tour stage ;-)
Haeral if you want the looks try dancing or modeling
Haeral not offended at all, but we are talking about cycling, not looks (wich is a matter os opinion)
Haeral you stated your opinion about the looks of sir chris and road cyclists in general, and i basically said that looks mean shit in sports, and was expecting a cycling answer from you. something like: "i prefer track cycling because i find it more interesting"; so that i could say i respect your opinion, but you never really wanted to talk about cycling so, take care...

is there a Chris Mañana or Chris Ayer?
MORE VELODROME VIDEOS!!!! I don't think it can be said enough...maybe a keiran(probably spelled that wrong) that would be entertaining!
I've always wanted to try a track, but I don't think there's one within a 1,000-mile radius here.
The Cat Ate My Shoe ha! Miles.....
@@coen8323 1.6k km...ez convert
More track videos! More videos about fixed gear bikes!
3:56 look at the legs on Matt!
GCN should do more track riding videos
GCN in London - you should have tried some Regents Park laps!
Chris The King!
Looks like you 3 enjoyed that one.
Should have a Track network,. I'm sick and tired of searching for track bikes and fixies keeps on showing up
Renéth Anoche I'm new to this, what is the difference between them?
Renéth Anoche hella true
Maybe GCN should do a repeat of this video with Manon! 2016 Women’s Madison champion
I think that Si possibly won comment of the week here - at 2:05 - with ," What do you think our chances are of getting a ride?"
Is Hoy using a turbo saddle?
you guys are so mean to Matt, Matt is my favorite gcn presenter
what are the requirement s to do that job? looks amazing
How to ride on the velodrome??
These guys get to have way too much fun :( haha
please start showing more track bikes
Do track cyclists train the upper body? Seems like Chris Hoy has big arms
Matt was so excited from measuring Sir Hoy's guns that he mistakenly reported that they were "1.5 inch bigger than Degenkolb's", which we all know to be wrong since it's Greipel who had the 36.5 inch guns.
+guerthal cm, not inch, my bad.
Looks like Chris was on a much bigger gear than the other guys - bit of an advantage! Think those hire bikes are only 80" or something...
Guys! What track bikes are you riding? They look really cool
+Reid M Looks like the standard hire bikes available
please please tell me you use those little vietnamese (thats how i associate them) scooters in all your videos??!! :P
+marcus allison its called the "keirin" ;)
+Andrew Bedford No it's called a Derny. Keirin is the event they are used to lead out the riders in.
Kei-rin is originated from 競輪(Japanese). 競(kei) means "competition". 輪(rin) means "wheels(of bicycle)".
Andrew Bedford alastair burnard Maglia Nera thank you all!! good to know, and glad i don't have to be potentially offensive when describing them!!
are they traditionally a track/ velodrome motorbike or what?? :)
I've been to that velo with my cycling team
Thing is, he kinda knows his thighs are huge... 'CAUSE HES STOOD TENSING THEM THE ENTIRE TIME!😂 You see when he moves his right leg at 4:07 he goes from fully tensed to normal. Still bigger than most people, including mine though👍🏻
Nah he wasnt tensing them, thighs actually contract inwards when you tense them, it's a really dramatic and visible motion. That was just him moving his knees a little bit.
I'm more excited about that BMX track in the b-roll
The first time we see men holding hands.
